Mindfulness: ❏ Mindfulness colouring (attached) ❏ SENSE COUNTDOWN 1. Sit or stand straight and still. Close your eyes or look downward. 2. Take three deep breaths in and out. 3. Open your eyes. - Notice five things you can see. - Notice four things you can touch. - Notice three things you can hear. - Notice two things you can smell. - Notice one thing you can taste.

Inquiry: Big idea: ‘By mixing and changing materials we use chemistry in our everyday lives.’ This term we are exploring materials and mixes. Watch the following video to begin exploring our unit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_CsTYmsORc ❏ Explore: You will need some cups or containers then

collect a range of items from around your home for example: sand, flour, water, blocks, rocks, salt, oil, marbles, paper clips, water, rice, milk, cornflakes, etc

❏ Investigate: Set up your cups or containers and place two different items in each (for example one cup could have water and sand, another could have marbles and paper clips). Observe what happens. In your work books draw what the materials look like before you added them into the cup and then draw what they look like mixed together.

❏ Think: Did the materials change when you added them to the cup? Do you think that the materials will do different things when you mix them with other materials? Can you separate these materials once they are mixed? How?

❏ Wonderings: Please record your wonderings as you watch this video and explore the task. Choose one wondering that you would like to explore and discover this term and send it to your teacher.

Family Time Spend some time with your family. Here are some ideas of things you could do together: ❏ Do some gardening. ❏ Cook with your family. ❏ Play a game.

Helping at Home Complete some tasks that help with the family’s workload: ❏ Help with the dishes ❏ Make your bed ❏ Sweep or vacuum the floor ❏ Tidy a cupboard or draw ❏ Fold the washing ❏ Help an adult clean the car

Year 2- Performing Arts- Week 2 Online Learning: ‘Instruments I know’ We can make music in many ways, using our body, voice, tapping, hitting, strumming or blowing into objects or things. These ‘things’ can be homemade, everyday items e.g. pots and pan or instruments. At school we have had the opportunity to experiment with playing different types of drums, marimbas, percussion instruments and ukuleles. But in the world of music and creating different types of music there are so many different types of instruments.

Can you make a list of all the instruments you know?

You can do this by either drawing them or writing them down.

Create a poster with 5 pictures of the instruments you know or love and write its name underneath. (Take a picture of your poster and send it to

your teacher)
