After 16 years of industry experience we are recognized as a diverse event company and strive to deliver perfection coupled with endless entertainment. We are capable of designing, delivering and executing some of New Zealand and Australia’s most extreme event projects. Our dream is to be different and our desire is to be the best. We pride ourselves on looking at ideas that have never been done and we are responsible for showcasing North American sport that has never been seen in this part of the world. This book is a small journey through the years of hard work, mistakes, successes and the dreams that make us the team that we are. ENJOY!

Overview..

Douglas Projects International (DPI) was developed to house thediverse event portfolio, idea generation and non conformist thinkingof Craig Douglas.

This book is a small journey through the years of hard work,mistakes, successes and the dreams that make us the team that weare.

The journey began in 2003 with theSupercross and Gravity Games. It was thefirst time New Zealand had seen indoorinternational Supercross between the bestfrom the USA, Australia and New Zealand.This event sold out two years running.

Freestyle MotoXXX was the introduction ofthe USA born freestyle MotoX revolution.Over 200,000 spectators attended one of our35 shows performed all over New Zealand.

AutoX became one of the country’s largestautomotive festivals encompassing everythingfrom cars, bikes, bikinis and music.

Summernats was a lifestyle andentertainment show for men. Crowds weretreated to burnouts, lifestyle products, a carshow and a display from the country's beststunt and freestyle MotoX riders.

Bikefest was the all-round bike enthusiastsdream. An endurance trail ride spanning twodays. It attracted motorcyclists and fans fromall over New Zealand.

Jim Beam set us a target of building an extremesports party. It was so successful Jim Beamcontinued the extreme sport party tour for 3years, entertaining over 150,000 party goersand selling more than 630,000 bottles of theirfine bourbon.

The New Zealand Jet Ski Marathon was arace from the North Island of New Zealandto the South Island covering some of themost dangerous waters where the Tasmanand Pacific Oceans meet.

It was time to do somethingfor charity, so the PlayboyBall was born. Over$100,000 was raised in threeyears for Child Cancer andYouth Suicide prevention. Itis always good to give!

The idea of putting rodeo indoors was anexciting opportunity. New Zealand’s firstindoor international rodeo attracted 32cowboys from the 5 rodeo nations of theworld and sold out three years running. Theconcept was copied and is now produced inAustralia.

New Zealand International Rodeo madeits debut in 2007 as the first indoorRodeo New Zealand had ever seen.Many said it could not be done indoorsbut we said it could. 400 VIP guestswined and dined in style just inches fromthe action.

The International Rodeo was filmed andbroadcast in New Zealand, Australia,USA, Canada and Brazil.

From 2007 to 2009, the New ZealandInternational Rodeo formed part ofChristchurch’s renowned Cup & Showweek programme, filling the 7,000capacity stadium each year.

Ice New-Zealand and Ice-Australia isa division of DPI that builds temporaryportable ice rinks for public use.

Using part of the NHL rink we wereset the challenge of building rinks inthe strangest places includingshopping malls, beaches and townsquares. We build approximately 9 funrinks each year with over 300,000visitors.

Douglas Projects International is nowthe exclusive distributor and globalpartner to Ice-World International,Holland.

In 2015 we are expanding the brandinto a Winter Festival, centeredaround the ice rink and featuring atoboggan slide, human snow globe,family activities, live performancesand much more. Winter Festival willturn town centres all over NewZealand into a Winter Wonderland forthe whole family.

The dream of producing an NHLexhibition game between Canada andthe USA started in 2009. We then hadto find a fully portable NHL Spec icerink – not easy.

2011 New Zealand: Three sold outgames at Auckland's Vector Arena,Christchurch's CBS Canterbury Arenaand Dunedin's Ice Stadium, with over25,000 spectators.

2013 Australia: International IceHockey was taken to Australia for a twocity, three game tour. The tourreceived overwhelming support sellingout all three games, two at Melbourne’sHisense Arena and one at Sydney’sAllphones Arena with over 40,000spectators.

2014 Australia: On the success of 2013another tour was scheduled for 2014,expanding to five games in four cities,two in Perth and one each in Brisbane,Melbourne and Sydney. It was thebiggest and most successful tour to datewith all five games sold out with a totalof 64,000 spectators and the highestcaliber of players ever to play inAustralia

It has been important to us that we haveshared the vision and found ways togrow the game in Australia and NewZealand.

In November 2014 we produced the firstever PBR New Zealand Cup where 22 ofthe world’s best professional bull riderscompeted on 52 of New Zealand’s bestbucking bulls. All staged indoors duringNew Zealand’s biggest week of agriculture,horse racing, entertainment and the annualA&P Show where country comes to town.

For the past 20 years PBR has becomeone of the fastest growing sports to comeout of the USA. It has expanded to sevencountries including, Canada, Brazil,Mexico, Australia, China and now NewZealand.

Securing the rights to the PBR NewZealand Cup has been a dream of ours andwe are proud of the relationship we havedeveloped with PBR Australia and PBRUSA.

American football is already played inNew Zealand and Australia with a littleover 2,800 participants in both countries.

Our dream is to bring an exhibition seriesto New Zealand and Australia toshowcase America’s ultimate team sport.

The goal is to grow the game in NewZealand and Australia to create more fansand followers. Both New Zealand andAustralia are very gladiatorial nations andmarket research indicates a very strongdesire to see the sport live.

We at DPI believe that we have the skills,experience and backing to produce anexhibition game of American Football thatwould capture the nation.

We want to showcase America’s No.1sport to a nation of sports enthusiasts.
