    This procedure applies to the qualification of penetrant liquids family MR 67PS + MR 70(water washable, color contrast & fluorescent penetant liquids), in order to state acceptancefor use under the procedure code X-008062, rev.12.The system performance test is performed on the aluminium comparator test blockmanufactured acc. to ASME Code, Section V, Art.6, III-610, with a network of artificial finecracks on each face)::

    A

    B A

    B

    Part A of the block is used with an already qualified penetrant liquids family (as for exampleMR 68NF + MR 70, water washable color contrast penetrant liquids), Part B of the block isused with the family of penetrant liquids to be qualified.Whether the block is a new one or not, the comparator test block shall be thoroughly cleanedby focusing solvent spray MR 85 or isopropyl alcohol on the cracked areas of the block, thanrinseing with clean water and spraying again the cracked areas with solvent, and finally drythe block by natural evaporation at room temperature.The performance test temperature is the same for both penetrant liquids, in the standard

    temperatures range. As a minimum, one test shall be performed at the workshoptemperature.The operations stated in the applicable procedure (Method A - Type I) are performed apart,using each penetrant liquids family on the respective part of the test block.Caution shall be exercised to prevent mixing of test materials from different families:

    If the block is a divided one, the two parts shall be placed far enough apart in time of theperformance test to prevent contamination;

    If the two parts are separated by a rectangular notch, this one shall be used to insert aseparation panel, tigtly inserted in the notch to prevent mutual contamination of parts.

    Excepting the materials, the essential variables of the process shall be the same for bothpenetrant liquids families, within the applicable procedure statements.

    If the indications obtained on part B are essentially the same as those obtained on part A,the penetrant liquids family MR 67PS + MR 70 is qualified for use under the procedure codeX-008062, rev.12.
