La Bordeauxthèque, a success being exported... to Beijing !
With their 66 000 m2 dedicated to shopping in the very heart of Paris, the Galeries Lafayette Haussmann are the 2nd most visited tourist attraction of the capital city. In order to complete the offering of their Lafayette Gourmet department, the Galeries Lafayette approached DUCLOT, a major wine merchant of Bordeaux wines, for an original association: to create the best Bordeaux wine cellar in the world, called La Bordeauxthèque. Set up in May 2010, this superb area of 250 m2 offers private customers over 1 200 references, with a specific alcove for the 9 top wines of Bordeaux. Such a success was due to spread beyond our frontiers… The idea of exporting the concept came from the Galeries Lafayette, which are oriented today towards international markets with the opening of a first store in Beijing, China, in November 2013. Located in Xidan, a key commercial and cultural zone of the city, this store occupies 32 000 m² on 6 levels. In this context, the management of the Galeries Lafayette turned again towards DUCLOT to create La Bordeauxthèque Beijing. A request to which the wine merchant reacted positively, of course !
An exceptional venue - Located on the 5th floor of the Beijing Galeries Lafayette, the level dedicated to the universe of gastronomy, La Bordeauxthèque covers 200 m², with an area where French food will be served.
A comprehensive selection - This remarkable offer of 600 references covers a large range of appellations, colors, vintages, formats and of course prices, in clearly identified areas of the store. Bourgeois growths, Seconds wines, Classified growths, and wines likened to them, from the left bank and the right bank… and of course the First Growths, which occupy a major position: Lafite Rothschild, Latour, Mouton Rothschild, Margaux, Haut-Brion, Cheval Blanc, Petrus and Yquem (with an impressive verticale from 1899 to 2009). Besides these fabulous labels, there is a selection of good Bordeaux
wines at affordable prices.This offer is spectacular in terms of vintages and formats (from the half-bottle to the imperial, but also magnums, double-magnums and jeroboams).
An exceptional advantage - La Bordeauxthèque guarantees to provide directly from the Bordeaux châteaux, a very rare feature in Asia. As far as storage of bottles is concerned, it is under ideal conditions: constant temperature, LED lighting…
The French experience - Recruited by DUCLOT, teams of Chinese, English and French speaking sommeliers - salespeople are available for the customers in order to help them with their purchases. Trained in Bordeaux, where they have visited all the

our selection of 600 references in the store and drink it at the bar with no corkage fee. Creator and manager of La Bordeauxthèque Paris and La Bordeauxthèque Beijing, DUCLOT has been a merchant of the top Bordeaux wines since 1886, with
an incomparable stock of 5 million bottles stored in its cellars. From the beginning DUCLOT has been selling these wines to professionals (distributors, restaurants, importers…), but also to private customers since the 70’s, in its stores and on the internet.
This significant status of wine merchant guarantees the customers of La Bordeauxthèque the absence of intermediaries between the châteaux and the store: this is a crucial point concerning the origin of the wines.
