In the 1920s, Farmersville was known as an onion growing capital. Main Street coordinated the restoration of the historic Onion Shed, which is now
used for many community events including the monthly Farmers & Fleas Market.

Farmersville has been recognized as a National Main Street City for the years
2001-2019. Restoration of the historic
Onion Shed (coordinated by Main Street)
won the Texas Downtown Award for
Community Spirit in 2003.
Recipient of “Preserve
America Community” designation.
Farmersville is one of 90 Texas Main
Street cities.

This Market was begun by Main Street in August 2004, as a way to bring people into downtown Farmersville. Held the first Saturday of each Month under the Onion
Shed and in the surrounding city park.
Farmersville Main Street Program is funded in part by the Farmersville Community Develop-ment Corporation, City of Farmersville, and private donations.
