Motion made by Meyer to:
Approve two alternatives for exterior materials for renovation of the northand east facades, using the same materials/colors for both facades:
(1) Utilize plaster for the entire façade or(2) Install new brick on the first story, with color to match orcomplement existing façade materials, and utilize plaster for thesecond and third stories; and
Approve exterior color choices for plaster and flashing for north and eastfacades, as presented by the applicant:
(1) Plaster – “Laredo” color chip(2) Flashing – “Extra Dark Bronze”, “Matte Black”, or “Mansard
Brown”, color chips – applicant to choose one selection.
The motion to approve was based on findings that the proposed projectcomplies with the spirit and intent of the Downtown Design Overlay Districtregulations and the Downtown Fond du Lac Partnership Design Guidelines.

Project Analysis
Proposal: Wall sign.
Historic Status: State and National register of historic places. The property doesnot retain a local historic designation. The North Main StreetHistoric District is a national district; historic review of theproposal is not required.
Design Review: The Downtown Architectural Review Board must determine thatthe proposed sign complies with the spirit and intent of theDowntown Design Overlay District regulations and theDowntown Fond du Lac Partnership Design Guidelines.
The subject property is located on the east side of North Main Street midblock between
Division Street and Merrill Avenue. A wall sign for a new business - S&B Alterations -
is proposed.
The proposed sign consists of an elongated oval Dibond panel with vinyl graphics. The
sign would be affixed on the wall directly above the storefront awning. Illumination of
the sign is not proposed. The sign complies with zoning code requirements for allowable
size.
Findings
The Downtown Design Overlay District is intended to:
Preserve and restore unique and historic buildings;
Ensure the coordinated design of new buildings and changes to existing buildings;

Aid in improving the overall economic vitality of the district.
Recommendation

remodeled to provide commercial office space last used by the Commonwealth
Companies. New signage is proposed for two new uses, Envision Greater Fond du Lac
and the Fond du Lac Area Convention and Visitors Bureau.
The proposed signage consists of a flat panel affixed to the front and sides of the entry
canopy. Flat cut metal lettering and logos would be affixed to the sign panel to identify
the two business uses. Illumination of the signage is not proposed. The sign area
complies with zoning code requirements for allowable size.
Findings

Project Analysis
Proposal: Repair and repaint north, south and east building facades.
Historic Status: N/A
Design Review: The Downtown Architectural Review Board must determine thatthe proposed changes to the building comply with the spirit andintent of the Downtown Design Overlay District regulations andthe Downtown Fond du Lac Partnership Design Guidelines.
The subject two-story building is located at southeast corner of South Main and
Sheboygan Street. Existing brick on the north, south, and east walls is damaged and the
building has fallen into disrepair.
Proposed changes to the building include replacement of damaged brick on the north wall
with an EIFS system. The EFIS would cover the building area above the second floor
windows. Cement plaster over existing brick on the east and south walls of the building
in the area above the second floor windows is planned.

Findings
