Permanent Orienteering Courses This will introduce you to a type of park orienteering.
What is Orienteering?: Its a sport where you navigate around a course using a map. It provides recreation, fitness, challenges & fun in park & bush land areas. Permanent Courses are designed to allow you to do a course at any time.
How do you do it?: For each leg of the course select the best route. The aim is to visit all controls in order. Navigation is about keeping track of where you are on the map & finding the control. Keep your map oriented to ground features.
Control Questions: The map has a description of each control feature and a question. There are three possible answer options. Select the correct answer .
Responsibility: Please look after the parks & bush land areas we use. Follow the rules and requirements of landholders.
SAFETY: YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY.
Roads: TAKE CARE crossing roads & do not walk or run on roads Water: On hot days it is advisable to drink fluids before, during and after
the course; Water tap locations are shown on the maps (blue X or O)
