This module provides the framework, concepts and principles associated with managing international energy markets. You will have the opportunity to develop your analytical skills and knowledge of energy market structures and energy policy, and to gain a managerial understanding of the fossil fuel and renewable energy aspects of energy markets. You will look at emerging trends in international law and finance, with an eye towards projecting their impact on the future dynamics of international trade. By the end of the module, you should understand the issues involved in determining energy market structures and energy policy, and be able to analyse and interpret energy data from a managerial perspective.
Oil and Gas Management
This module introduces economic concepts, tools, definitions, and acceptable practices of the international petroleum and other energy markets. You’ll develop the aptitude to analyse economic markets and add value to the energy sector through the application of decision-making tools, including the study of key topics such as product stream forecasting, risk and uncertainty, capital budgeting and the economic analysis of operations. Examples of topics covered include oil and gas prices, marketing crude oil, oil and natural gas industry, coal industry, electric utilities, other sources of energy, future consumption and production. By the end of the module, you should be able to understand the background of the energy industry in functioning as an economic entity within the global business community.
