DISCLAIMERThe rules and/or regulations set forth herein are designed to provide for the orderly conduct of racing events and to establish minimum acceptable requirements for such events. These rules shall govern the condition of all events, and by participating in these events, all participants are deemed to have complied with these rules. NO EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM PUBLICATIONS OF, OR COMPLIANCE WITH THESE RULES AND/OR REGULATIONS. They are intended as a guide for the conduct of the sport and are in no way a guarantee against injury or death of a participant, spectator or official. 1. GENERAL RULE1.1 Kart Chassis∗ Frames must not exceed 90” in length.∗ Front-end plastic bumper or similar wheel enclosures and body work are allowed for the CORA kart class ONLY, as long as it does NOT wrap around wheels. This includes,Briggs, kt 100 Yamaha, and Open class.∗ Wheels and tires must be kart type only, wheels not to exceed 6” in diameter.∗ Driver protection cages are mandatory (in the outlaw kart classes) and must be constructed from “0.75 X 0.083” 4130 tube or material of equal or greater strength. Slip joint mounting must be retained from upward movement, which exceeds the length of travel of the joint at all mounting points.∗ Wings are mandatory for all outlaw karts at the start of race day, with the exception to an accident during the race day. All micro midgets must start any race with a wing.∗ Bodies consisting of hoods and tailpieces are required and may be constructed from anymaterial except wood. Hoods must be constructed and mounted in such a manner as to retain the driver’s legs in a rollover. No sharp edges or protruding parts are allowed.∗ Mufflers recommended.∗ Numbers must be a minimum 10” tall and CLEARLY VISIBLE, if they cannot be seen you will not get scored. ∗ All winged car/karts must display numbers on both the right and left sides of the wing and on the tail. Numbers must be a minimum of 10” tall and contrast with their background. A letter must follow duplicate numbers. The letter must be a minimum of 6”. If car/kart does not have a letter, a letter will be assigned. Speedway Karts will display numbers on both sides of the kart, and front and rear bumpers. Numbers must contrast with there backgrounds, and must be at least 6”. When possible larger would be beneficial for the scorekeepers.1.2 Fuel∗ NO Fuel Additives are allowed for any purpose for all classes.1.3 Track∗ There is NO racing to the yellow flag. Upon the issuance of a yellow flag, the line up will be determined by the application of the order of the last completed lap after implementing penalties.* No one is allowed on the track, scoring tower or communicating with the flag man. Failure to do so results in a verbal warning, second offence $25 fine to kart/car payable before the next race a Cora.

∗ Any time a car receives assistance (ie. stalls or receives adjustments etc.) car is charged with a yellow flag and will be sent to the back, assistance during a yellow will send car to the back, car will not be charged. Kart/car starts in front of lapped cars and car that caused yellow. Safety checks by officials will be excluded∗ Any car receiving 2 yellow flags during a race is disqualified from completing the race.∗ During a RESTART, cars must pass to the outside of the cone set on the front straight away. You may not pass until after you have passed the cone. Any car hitting the cone will be placed at the back of the pack at the next restart or scored in last place at the end of the race.∗ Weight rules for classes apply. Drivers and cars/karts will be weighed after main event races as they come off the track or in the center of the track.∗ The flagman is in control of the racetrack when cars and karts are on the track. All driversmust understand the various flags, and lights, and respond accordingly.∗Green Flag: The entire track is open for racing. Passing will not be permitted before thegreen flag is displayed, at designated point. Single file restarts will be at MEDIUM SPEED, until the lead car/kart begins to race. At this point the green flag will be displayed and racing will begin.∗ * Double file starts, the Two lead karts/cars must stay side by side until reaching the start cone. Failure to do so will result in both karts/cars sent to the second row after two attempts. ∗ Red/Yellow Flag: Restart race. This on the first lap only. All races will be entitled to one restart.∗ Yellow Flag: CAUTION. All cars safely decelerate and form in a single file line.a. On restarts all car/karts must come to a parade lap speed. Failure to do so will result inbeing sent to the back of the pack. Single file formation.∗ Red Flag: STOP AS SOON AS SAFELY POSSIBLE.a. Revert back to previous lap for lineup.b. Red flag will not be used on the last lap.c. FAILURE TO OBSERVE THE RED FLAG WILL RESULT INDISQUALIFICATION.∗ Blue/Yellow Flag: LAPPED TRAFFIC, HOLD LINE. To inform slower moving car/karts that leaders are about to pass. HOLD line DO NOT attempt to race or impede the leaders.∗ Black Flag: PROCEED TO PIT AREA for consultation. Car/kart will cease being scored from time flag is displayed.∗ White Flag: ONE LAP TO FINISH.∗ Checkered Flag: Race is officially over. All car/karts must pass under this flag to be scored.∗ Any car/kart that stops at any time during a race or pulls off into the infield due to mechanical failure will be pushed to the track exit and will not be eligible to return for that race.∗ Any car/kart that stalls will line up in rear of pack at the next yellow.Date of Last Revision: 4/2010CORA 2010 Rules

∗ Any car/kart that leaves the track will not be able to return. ∗ Jumpstarts will result being sent to the back upon two (2) attempts. ∗ Drivers who are involved in, or the cause of a yellow or red flag will start in the back of the pack. The TWO SPIN rule is in effect∗ No crew/pit members will be allowed on the track during races. Only authorized volunteers and track staff will be allowed during racing. Must be at least 16 years or older to volunteer on the track.

∗∗ NO REFUNDS will be issued for car/kart upon completion of hot laps.**

1.4 Pit∗ It is the responsibility of Parents to ensure that children are monitored at all times.∗ Be aware of space limitations.∗ Individual Pit areas are like someone’s yard, respect their space.∗ Do not enter the pit of another driver while in an agitated state. ∗ Anyone under the age of 18 must have parent and/or legal guardian sign waiver form at each event, or be on file at the beginning of the season with the CORA management.∗ An adult must accompany minors at all times while in the pit areas. The parent or guardian is responsible for the actions of the minor. (Refer also to the disclaimer).∗ NO TWO WHEELED vehicles are allowed at CORA Speedway, fines and disqualifications may be incurred.

1.5 Driver∗ Being race ready is the responsibility of the driver. All cars must be in the race staging area, with all safety equipment securely in place and driver buckled into the car prior to the beginning of the race preceding their race. (ie. If you are in race number 6, you must be in your car and ready to race in the staging area at the beginning of race 5). No cars will be called. No considerations will be given. You will be scored DNS (did not start).∗ Birth certificate must be provided and kept on file for all racing minors. NO minor driver will be allowed to participate without a birth certificate on file. A grace period MAY be extended.∗ The maximum age requirement for a given class is in effect at the date of membership or at the first race of participation.∗ If a driver meets the minimum age requirement at some point during the current race season, that drive is eligible to begin the season racing in that class.1.6 Points∗ To be eligible for points you must become a CORA member by your second race.∗ To be eligible for year end championship trophies you must attend 50% of the scheduled races for the 2010 race season.

2. SAFETY2.1 General∗ You are responsible for the safety of both you and your car/kart.∗ Minors are to be signed in by a parent or guardian and are the responsibility of that parent or guardian.∗ Being race ready is the responsibility of the driver. This includes having all mandated safety equipment in place and in good working order.∗ Race officials have the right to remove any car or kart from the race due to conditionsdeemed to be unsafe. Such conditions may include mechanical hazards as well asunsportsmanlike or unsafe driving practices.∗ Safety Committee and Track Officials’ decision is final.2.2 Chassis∗ At least one brake caliper acting on a 6” diameter disc, acting on the rear axle is required. Only hydraulic systems are acceptable. Braking systems must be in working order at all times. Front brakes are allowed.∗ All outlaw karts and midgets must be equipped with 5-point harness.∗ Wrap around seats mandatory.∗ Feet protection bars mandatory.∗ Side nerf bars mandatory.∗ Rear nerf bars mandatory.∗ Aluminum high back seats are MANDATORY. The top of the seat should be at the middle of the driver’s head. (Excludes Speedway Karts, see 8.6)∗ Seat mounts securely mounted to the frame.∗ Any suspended seat is to have safety cable attached to seat.∗ All weight will be bolted in the seat, or mounted to the frame in an International KartFederation (IFK) approved weight can. (Kart related). Any material used for ballast must be fairly attached as a part of the car’s structure. No liquid or loose ballast such as water,fuel, oil, sand bags, rocks, etc. will be allowed.∗ All classes ¾” .083 chrome molly or 1” .06 Chrome molly or 1” .083 steel.∗ No exotic steel.∗ Roll cage must be securely fastened with a safety chain or grade 5 or better bolt, in at least four spots. Driver’s body must be completely inside role cage. Roll cage height minimum of 2” clearance above driver’s head. (Kart related)∗ Fuel line location cannot be closer than 2” to any of the exhaust system at any time and shall not be above the exhaust. If closer than 2”, fuel line must be insulated. Fuel line must have ample slack for cage movement. Must be petroleum grade fuel line.∗ Fuel tank location: Out board mounted fuel tanks must have metal protection, particularly fuel petcock area.∗ Suicide doors: Left side protection is required. ∗ Tail piece protection: If the top of the tail section protrudes above the seat, tail must bepadded. Suggested padding: Plumbing foam. Tail section must be securely attached to theframe.∗ Safety Committee and Track Officials’ decision is final.∗ Chain guards are required. Appropriate design to prevent injury to arm. If in doubt, see safety tech. Speedway kart guards must extend from the top of the engine over the rear sprocket.2.3 Motor∗ The end of the exhaust pipe may not extend further than 3” of the outermost edges of the nerf bars, bumpers and wheels. (Kart related)∗ All engines must have a 6” or longer nylon tie attached to the spark plug wire. This allows for emergency shut down by track staff if necessary. (Kart related)2.4 Fuel∗ No fuel additives including, but not limited to nitrous oxide, nitro methane, andpolypropylene.∗ All cars running alcohol must have the appropriate sticker designation mounted on both sides of the wing on cars (sticker of the letter “A”). Should an alcohol fire occur, this would expedite the extinguishing of the fire with the proper material.2.5 Driver∗ Neck rolls are mandatory.∗ Hans or Hutchens devices strongly recommended, but optional.∗ Arm or wrist restraints are mandatory and must keep the drivers arms inside the cage during a role. (Excludes Speedway Karts, see 8.6 )∗ Fire retardant car racing gloves are mandatory. No motorcycle gloves.∗ SNELL or DOT (SA95 or later) approved full-face racecar helmets with protective visors meeting age requirements are mandatory. Helmets must pass inspection. No goggles. No motorcycle helmets Except for Speedway Karts, see 8.6)∗ Car racing suits mandatory, 1-2 layer fire retardant garments for Outlaw karts, and midgets with SFI Manufacture Certification rating of 3-2A/5 or better (no motorcycle race clothing allowed). ( 250/500 class must have a minimum of a long sleeve sweat shirt, long pants, socks, and closed toed shoes.)∗ Speedway karts must have long sleeves, long pants, socks, and closed toed shoes. ∗ Fire retardant underwear is strongly recommended.∗ Fire retardant race shoes are recommended.∗ ROOKIE RULE: Any driver signing in, who has not previously been given approval to run as a “non-rookie”, may be asked to run as a rookie. Rookie drivers will display a rookie flag while on the track. Rookie drivers will start at the rear of each race, until cleared of rookie status by track officials.

2.6 Pit∗ Your pit area must be equipped with a serviceable fire extinguisher.∗ Entrance and exits to the track are to be kept clear at all times, especially during racing.Race cars and karts to stay in the pit area until the beginning of the race preceding theirs.Racers are to know what their position is before entering the track. Staging in the properposition will eliminate any confusion. Staging official will assist in proper line up.∗ It is the responsibility of drivers and pit crew members to be constantly vigilant whilestarting vehicles in the pit area.∗ At no time will speeding in the pit area be tolerated, and will result in fine and ordisqualification.∗ Smoking in pit area is not recommended. Use common sense.2.7 TechIMMEDIATE – Must be in compliance to race.∗ Full face Helmet – Checked for proper fit and within recommended SNELL or DOTrequirements.∗ One or Two piece race suit with fire protections of SFI Certification 3-2A/5 or better mandatory for all cars/karts running alcohol.(250/500 class must have a minimum of a long sleeve sweat shirt, long pants, socks, and closed toed shoes.)∗ Nomex underwear recommended∗ Fire retardant car racing gloves∗ Fire retardant race shoes (recommended)∗ Seat belt & harness mounted and dated∗ Arm restraints∗ Neck roll, Hans, Hutchins∗ Brakes∗ Steering link, lock nuts or cotter keys∗ Steering wheel – securely mounted∗ NO Protruding objects∗ NO Axle Protrusion∗ Fuel Line Location∗ Spindles – Cotter Keyed∗ Cage-Mounts height. 3. ACCIDENTS∗ Race officials and emergency medical personnel are the only persons authorized to be on the track when an accident occurs. Exceptions to this are at the discretion of the race officials.∗ Officials may stop Car/karts involved in an accident for inspection.∗ Medical personnel must examine any driver who sustains an injury.∗ Car/kart and driver may continue only with approval from track officials.∗ Any repair to car/kart must be approved by the track official.∗ Race officials have the right to remove any car or kart from the race due to conditionsdeemed to be unsafe. Such conditions may include mechanical hazards as well as concern for the driver’s physical and/or mental well-being.*Racers cannot get out of their kart/car at anytime on the track ; safety reasons excepted

4. RACE PROCEDURES∗ There must be a minimum of 4 cars in an established class for the class to race. For classes that do not meet minimum requirement, the cars will EITHER be combined with another class or not race at that day’s event. This determination will be at the track official’s discretion. Trophies will not be awarded.∗ Depending on the Racing Events format for the day, one of two “Race Setup Procedures” will apply. Racing for a specific class can be setup using either the “Qualifying” method or the “Pill Pull” method. Both methods are described in the “Race Setup Guidelines” posted on the Internet or available for viewing at the track during race day.∗ Low car count could result in Mains with fewer laps. A minimum of three cars in a class for the trophy dash when applicable. Division rotation may be part of the program. Classes with small car counts may be moved to the end of the race program.∗ Drivers may NOT switch to a back up car/kart or car in the middle of the race or through out the race day.∗ There is NO Substitution of Drivers.∗ Rainouts: If a race is called due to rain, it will NOT be rescheduled.∗ All races will be numbered for the day’s event.∗ Trophy dash laps will equal number of cars qualified to participate in race, time and event format permitting.

∗ Cars and karts staging for their races, need to line up (stage) in position at the entrance to the track prior to their race. Failure to be on time for your race will result in you missing your race. Track personnel are not going to track you down. It is your responsibility.∗ Missed hot lap sessions will not be made up.∗ Track packing is a necessary part of racing. All registered cars are expected to participate in track packing. All car/karts in a called up class will be checked off as they enter the track. Cars not participating in track packing will start heat races at the back.∗ Top 4 finishers in any main event are required to stop at scale area for post race tech.∗ Race Officials can inspect any car/kart/driver at any time.∗ Pitmen are not allowed on racetrack or infield while race is in progress.∗ During Red Flags: NO ONE allowed on racetrack or infield without track official permission.∗ During a yellow flag, WORKING ON CAR/KARTS ON RACE TRACK IS ALLOWED FOR MINOR MECHANICAL REPAIRS AND YOU ONLY HAVE 2 YELLOW LAPS TO COMPLETE YOUR REPAIR AND GET BACK IN LINE. ALL REPAIR WORK WILL BE DONE AT THE TRACK ENTRANCE WITH (1) CREW MEMBER AND (1) TRACK OFFICIAL PRESENT WHILE DOING THE WORK. (YOUR 2 LAPS START WHEN YOU GET TO THE TRACK ENTRANCE.)

5. PROTESTABLE ISSUES AND PROCEDURES∗ Only protests of a valid protestable issue as listed in the Protestable Issue Matrix (next page) will be accepted . ∗ No protests will be accepted on judgment decisions, track officials rulings are final.∗ Any kart/car placing in the top 5 for the current race event may be protested.∗ Protest Procedure:* An eligible person wishing to lodge a protest must fill out and submit the designatedprotest form and post the protest fee (cash for non-members, checks ok for members)to the designated Board member within allotted time.* If available, the protestable component will be teched onsite.* If onsite inspection and/or tech are not available, the protestable component will beremoved, sealed and prepared for transport by the car owner under the supervision ofa designated track official.* Fees are to be used for professional inspection and replacement gaskets if motorfound legal. If a motor is found to be illegal, protester may be reimbursed balanceafter inspection fees.* Motor may be held up to 4 days for inspection.* Drivers or parents of drivers are the only persons eligible to lodge a protest.* Officials may spot check car/kart, motor, or fuel at any time.

6. CONDUCT∗ Track officiating at CORA Speedway is a cooperative effort. Any driver or pit member age 16 or older may volunteer or be asked to officiate a race during an event. By everyone sharing this important responsibility, a greater appreciation of the complexity, volatility and distress will be recognized by all and will provide perspective from both ends of the racing spectrum. Racing is a highly emotional sport and tempers can quickly escalate into volatile situations. By all participates addressing each other calmly and with respect, we can minimize problem situations.∗ Due to the volunteer nature of the rotational track officials, fighting and unsportsmanlike conduct of any kind, by drivers, car owners, crew members or spectators will not be tolerated either on or off the track. No driver or member of his or her crew may approach the flagman, track official or the scoring booth. Any questions, comments, or complaints will first be handled by the track liaison. ∗ Any person fighting on premises will be permanently suspended.∗ Drivers are responsible for the conduct of their pit crew and spectators. Drivers are subject to penalty because of the actions of said people.∗ Any display of unsportsmanlike conduct including foul language (on or off the track) can result in a FINE, SUSPENSION, IMMEDIATE REMOVAL FROM RACE AREA, POINT PENALTIES, and or ALL OF THE ABOVE.∗ Penalties for unsportsmanlike conduct are detailed in the penalties section of this document.∗ Any driver who approaches an official while on the track for anything other than a safety issue will be placed at the back of the pack. If the driver continues to hold up the race will be black flagged and must leave the track.∗ Racing safely is the first priority at CORA Speedway, as a result, rough driving WILL NOT be tolerated. A car that is driving rough will be warned ONE time with a rolled up black flag. The next occurrence that night will result in a black flag disqualification of that race. ∗ CORA Speedway has a Members Liaison and a Race Day Official available during events to handle issues, disturbances and arbitrate grievances as needed. Issues can also be presented to the CORA Board in writing, (mail, fax and e-mail ok). The Member’s Liaison will make contact with you to address the issues.∗ No one is allowed on the track except for race officials. There will be a $25 fine for anyone that enters the track during a race without permission from a race official.

Numbers should be visible from tower and should contrast from car color.
