A3810224 Sabbath is a ginormous ten year old blue and white neutered male Pit Bull who was jettisoned at the Downey Shelter on March 27th because his former owner’s landlord denied them the right to have a dog. Weighing a mere one hundred and eight pounds, Sabbath has a medium to high energy level and pulls mightily away on leash. He has an easy-going disposition; enjoys socializing with the other dogs in his playgroup (although he can be kind of “bulldozer” at times) and based only upon his size and energy level we are recommending him for older children able to control such a massive dog. He loves squeaker toys and also to be fawned over. Sabbath is a fantastic indoor pet for an active family living in a private home. A4413669 Randy is a regal six year old tan neutered male Pit Bull who was dumped at the Downey Shelter on March 4th because he did not get along with one of the new dogs his owner recently adopted. Weighing fifty-five pounds, Randy has a medium energy level and walks like a pro on leash. He has an awesome disposition getting along well with other dogs and we believe he will be a remarkable pet for children. He loves to give and receive attention and is highly capable of giving very wet and slurpy kisses. Randy is an outstanding indoor pet for an active family living in a private home. A4536904 Zorro is a congenial black neutered male purebred Labrador Retriever who was jettisoned at the Downey Shelter on May 3rd because his former owners claimed he was ill - but the shelter’s medical staff and volunteers have found nothing to be wrong with him other than his obesity. Profoundly overweight at ninety pounds ideally, he should be closer to sixty pounds and an extended trip to doggie Jenny Craig coupled with lots of walks is recommended, Zorro has a medium energy level, walks well on leash and is likely housebroken. He has a laid-back disposition, he was non-reactive to the pets he encountered during our photo shoot - and we expect him to be a marvelous pet for children. A5175098 Boomer is a spectacularly cute three month old white male Terrier puppy who was forsaken at the Downey Shelter with his companions Dee (A4175094) Sid (A4175095), and Bernina (A5175100) on May 4th. Weighing eight pounds, Boomer has a medium energy level and is a total blank slate as far as any kind of training is concerned. He has a friendly disposition getting along well with the other dogs he has been kenneled with and we expect he will be a super pet for children. Boomer is as cute as puppies come and an ideal indoor pet for anyone. To watch a video of Boomer please click here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=w4vYklp6OoM

A5175100 Bernina is a Hallmark Card cute four year old curly-haired tricolor female Maltese who was jettisoned at the Downey Shelter on May 4th with her companions with her companions Dee (A4175094) Sid (A4175095), and Boomer (A5175098) on May 4th. Weighing just under thirteen pounds, Bernina has a medium energy level and courteously let her handler know that she would much rather be picked up then walk on leash out to the photo shoot today. She has an even-keeled disposition, gets along fine with the dogs she has been kenneled with and we think she will do okay with children who are mature enough to give her the time she needs to be able to warm up to them. She was initially “trembling” but that stopped as she started to enjoy being held and cuddled by her handler. Bernina is a loving lapdog and indoor pet for anyone. To watch a video of Bernina please click here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=LmmJIkGPLGU

A5175135 Penny is a delightful six month old brown female purebred Dachshund puppy who was dumped at the Downey Shelter on May 4th because her former owner’s landlord denied them the right to have a dog. Weighing twelve pounds, Penny has a medium energy level and is still a neophyte to walking on leash. She has an engaging disposition getting along well with other dogs and we believe she will be a sensational pet for children. Penny is phenomenal lapdog and indoor pet for anyone. A5118721 Bonnie is an affectionate two year old blue and white spayed female Pit Bull who was found without either a collar with an attached identification tag or a microchip in Bell on October 7th and brought to the Downey Shelter. Weighing sixty-three pounds, Bonnie has a medium energy level, walks very well on leash and would not surprise us if she were housebroken. She has a sweet disposition getting along fine with other dogs and we expect her to be a terrific pet for children. She loves attention and will reward you with many wet kisses! Bonnie is a fantastic indoor pet for an active family living in a private residence. A5144683 Luna is a cheerful two year old gray and white spayed female Pit Bull who was forsaken at the Downey Shelter on January 21st because her former owners were either too lazy or too inconsiderate to find a new home for her. Weighing sixty-three pounds, Luna has a medium to high energy level and tugs heartily away on leash. She has a loving disposition getting along fine with other mellow dogs and we expect she will do best with older children. Luna is a beautiful girl and a marvelous indoor pet for a family living in a private home. To watch a video of Luna please click here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Um1ioe5P7S4

A4191529 Mickey is a precious eight year old cream and white neutered male Chihuahua/Terrier mix who was jettisoned at the Downey Shelter on February 10th. Weighing twenty pounds, Mickey has a low to medium energy level and walks very well on leash. He has a sweet disposition and gets along fine with the dogs he is kenneled with and due to his hip injury we are recommending him for older children. He was limping when he came in and x-rays show that he may need “FHO” (femoral head) surgery but should be evaluated by an outside veterinarian to check as Downey’s veterinarians have very limited diagnostic equipment. Mickey is an outstanding lapdog and indoor pet for anyone. To watch a video of Mickey please click here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=OWHyKEMu7Jo TRANSFERRED TO THE CASTAIC SHELTER!

A5135707 Alma is a lively three year old brown and white spayed female Pit Bull who was found without either a collar with an attached identification tag or a microchip in East Los Angeles on December 8th and brought to the Downey Shelter. Weighing forty-eight pounds, Alma has a high energy level and has mastered the basics of leash training. She gets along well with other dogs, with the caveat that is a fight breaks out she will jump into the middle of it. We expect her to be good with older children. She is a vivacious girl who needs love and exercise. Alma is the perfect indoor pet for an active family living in a private home. A5141864 Shadow is a lively one year old black and white spayed female Pit Bull puppy who was jettisoned at the Downey Shelter on January 9th because her former owners decided they no longer wanted the responsibility of taking care of a dog. Weighing fifty-seven pounds, Shadow has a high energy level and doesn’t seem to realize she has a leash around her neck with a human attached at the other end. (She is at a perfect age to begin training classes!) She has a friendly disposition and has made herself the “hall monitor” in the playgroups (she tries to slow down other dogs that get too excited) and we predict she will be a barrel of fun for children. Shadow is an incredible indoor pet for an active family living in a private home. To watch a video of Shadow please click here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=e25WNE1IJiQ

A5146135 Ally is a focused three year old black and white spayed female Pit Bull who was found without either a collar with an attached identification tag or a microchip in East Los Angeles on January 27th and brought to the Downey Shelter. Weighing fifty-eight pounds, Ally has a high energy level, walks just okay on leash and knows how to ‘sit’ on command. She has a lively demeanor and in our playgroups she loves to get in and romp heartily with the other dogs. At this time we are recommending her for an adult only or adopters who are experienced with the breed due to possible resource guarding – we are asking for an assessment be done so that we may know if this is the case. Ally is a terrific indoor pet for an adult only family living in a private home. To watch a video of Ally please click here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ms4zRPWBXs4
