Definition

• its the most common identifiable form of mental retardation and is caused by an extra copy of chromosome 21 in the person's set of chromosomes (World of Genetics. Gale, 2010)

Symtoms

Causes problems with the mind, heart and with the eye site (World of Genetics. Gale, 2010)

Life long effects

• Have distinct facial expressions and are usually short (Perkins)

• Babies born with down syndrome are born smaller and with fewer brain cells (Perkins)

Therapy

• Babies go through cell therapy
