Since they were already lined up and materials were ready and waiting, we decided to go ahead with phase one, which should be completed mid-February! Tapio is doing the structural restoration of replacing supports in the north and south mez- zanines of the barn. This will take the sag out of the roof. By slightly jacking up the roof they are able to replace one post and support beam at a time. Slow but metic- ulous work especially since the supports are all tendoned into the posts. Once the structural work in complete, the farm will look for funding sources for the actual roof repair or replacement. We appreciate your continued support of this project. Our 1930’s barn plays a significant role in our living history programs and we are so thankful to be able to maintain it. Country Life Fair Set for April 29th and 30th

Historic Barn Restoration Has Begun!

We are once again hosting our annual "Country Life Fair" at the Pomeroy Farm! Thou-sands of herbs and plants, including organic vegetables, will be available as a fundraiser for Pomeroy Living History Farm’s school pro-grams. In addition to the sale, there will be many vendors selling their goods including an array of handcrafted trinkets and home décor, jewelry, pottery, local honey, clothing, and more! County Life demonstrators will be placed around the farm, showing off various skills such as blacksmithing, tin smithing, bow making, and hand crafts. There will be farm animals, hayrides, and more fun activities for kids to en-joy. Particularly fun for kids is our “Country Life Passport”—all kids are encouraged to get a passport and gather stamps around the farm as

they complete various activities. A small prize is given to children who have completed their passports. The event will be free admission, but do-nations will be gladly accepted! Hours will be 10-4 Saturday and 11-4 Sunday. Our historic log house will be open both days from 12-4 for tours. This truly is a family friendly, fun for all ages event!

Pomeroy Farm is excited to announce the Barn Restoration project is well underway! Due to funding challenges, namely the farm not being able to receive an anticipated grant, we have di-vided the project into two phases. Tapio Construction Inc has worked on oth-er renovation projects for the farm, and we appre-

ciate their attention to historic details. Since they were already lined up and materials were ready and waiting, we decided to go ahead with phase one, which should be completed mid-February! Tapio is doing the structural restoration of replacing supports in the

north and south mez-zanines of the barn. This will take the sag out of the roof. By slightly jacking up the roof they are able to replace one post and support beam at a time. Slow but metic-ulous work especially since the supports are all tendoned into the posts. Once the structural work in complete, the farm will look for funding sources for the actual roof repair or replacement.

We appreciate your continued support of this project. Our 1930’s barn plays a significant role in our living history programs and we are so thankful to be able to maintain it.
