Dover Vinyl – Spreadsheet Activity
You are creating some spreadsheet documents for a local record store, called Dover Vinyl. You will be creating one Excel workbook containing two worksheets.
Invoice Spreadsheet
1. Open a new blank Excel document and go to the File tab and choose Save As. Call the file – Dover‐Vinyl and save it in your computer class folder.
2. At the bottom of the window is the area to name your worksheets. Double click on Sheet 1 and rename it to –

3. Create an invoice template for Dover Vinyl. Use the page layout tools you have learned to make it look like this:
4. Format all cells that will contain money with the accounting format ($).
5. Format the sales tax as a % (you will need to enter 5% as 0.05 and then change the formatting to %)
6. Enter a formula in the total column which multiplies the quantity by the price.
7. Enter a SUM formula to calculate the sub total.
8. Enter a formula to calculate the sales tax amount which multiples the sales tax rate by the sub‐total.
9. Enter a formula to calculate the final total including sales tax.
10. Enter the following customer purchase information to test your invoice to see if it calculates correctly:

Inventory Spreadsheet
1. Double click on the Sheet 2 tab and rename it to – Inventory
2. Create the following spreadsheet:
3. Create a formula to calculate the price of each item including tax. You’ll need to use an absolute reference to the cell with the sales tax rate.
4. Fill the formula down to calculate the prices for all of the items in your inventory.
5. A new state law was passed, and the sales tax rate went up to 5.25%. Change the sales tax rate in your spreadsheet – your prices should automatically recalculate.
6. Make sure you save your workbook.
