Pebble cotton crochet toys are hand made by a women’s workers co-operative in Bangladesh

Set up by Samantha Morshed (who was awarded an MBE for her work in 2009)the co-operative aims to provide flexible and well paid work for women in rural

communities.

Most of Bangladesh’s textile workers have to leave their homes to work in factories in the cities. For many this entails living in slums and spending a large % of their wages

on rent.

Pebble toys are made by women in their villages.The rural production centres are open all day and the women are free to chose their

working hours to fit in with their family commitments
