The simple use of columns - which is a normal thing to see in the on a double page spread is easy to read and allows the reader to easily view the text. The DPS layout for this magazine is simple and easy to read, the colour scheme for this page is the same as the whole magazine (Black, white & red) this also makes the letter ‘L’ (which stands for Lady Gaga) stand out on the whole DPS. I like the use of the three colours however I want my magazine to be different so I will probably go for pastel colours. Like most DPS the picture is on the whole of the page which allows the reader to immediately know who the article is about.

Page 1: Double page spread analysis

The simple use of columns - which is a normal thing to see in the on a

double page spread is easy to read and allows the reader to easily

view the text.

The DPS layout for this magazine is simple and easy to read, the

colour scheme for this page is the same as the whole magazine

(Black, white & red) this also makes the letter ‘L’ (which stands for

Lady Gaga) stand out on the whole DPS. I like the use of the three

colours however I want my magazine to be different so I will

probably go for pastel colours.

Like most DPS the picture is on the whole of the page which allows

the reader to immediately know who the article is about.

The main image is positioned on one whole page of the double page spread

leaving the text to be on the other side. This allows the reader to instantly

know who the article is about as soon as the turn the page over. The fact that

the image is on the whole page attracts your attention to the artist. I think that

by having the image on one side of the page allows you to engage the reader

into the text to see what the magazine has to say about the artist. The plan

background of the gives the DPS a clean and simple looks and makes the

person on the page stand out. Personally I like the look of h=this magazine and

plan to use it on my DPS. I like the use of limited colours, I think it works well

and it very attractive. The header adds a slight attraction to the page but not as

much as the picture. It allows the reader to know what the article is about.

The layout of the text is in standard columns like most magazines – I think this

is affective as it is easy to read.

The theme of black red and white is used within this DPS however it is made to

create a dark impression on the audience; the darkness also matches the rock

band. By having black as the background the audience straight away links the

page with dark, heavy metal music. He page is still eye catching to people due

to the bold red and white text on the page.

The titles are quite big and catch your eye because of the colours. The image

reflects the mood of the title by saying tocan’t wait to come back” and then

seeing a smiling musician shows that he is happy to be back. I like it when the

layout of the image is so that a page has a photo is on one side and the text is

on the other. It makes it look much neater.

Page 4: Double page spread analysis

The simple layout of this DPS is easy to read. There is a use of a pull quote with

attract the reader in to read the whole thing. The page doesn’t stand out that

much due to the faded colours however this isn’t the start of the interview so

it is not as important to try and attract the reader into it as they would be

reading the article already. The layout is very neat and structured and it allows

you to read the text without getting confused.

Just from looking at the Images on the right hand side of the page it shows

who the lead singer of the band is because he has the biggest picture.

The faded, simple colours reflect on the genre music that Foals (the band on

the DPS) plays (alternative music).

The layout of this page is quite balanced as it gives it a neat look. It’s also quite

plan sticking to the colours of blue, white and black. With the title of ‘Let’s

dance’ and then having multiple pictures of the artist dancing motivates the

reader to want to know what the artist is dancing about. The picture also

shows the personality of the artist. The title isn’t very eye-catching but it is

made up by the big picture. The layout of the text is still like most magazines

which is in columns making it simple and easy to read. Also due to the size of

the photo your attention is maintained throughout.
