DotAlign for Outlook –
User Guide
What Is DotAlign? DotAlign is a technology that improves productivity and helps professionals “connect the dots” on introductions and opportunities. DotAlign plugs into Microsoft Outlook and privately analyzes email, calendar, contacts, and LinkedIn data to determine the people and companies that you know. It assigns a relationship score to every relationship it discovers, and provides many additional productivity features. Ultimately, DotAlign helps people leverage their collective networks for better relationship insights – without giving up sensitive detailed information about your contacts.
Privacy and Sharing DotAlign is sensitive both to compliance concerns and to individual human sensibilities around data privacy. How much you share is up to you: you can change your sharing level at any time, and can choose to mark specific contacts as private even when you are sharing all other relationships. No information leaves your computer without your explicit consent, and deep content – an email’s subject line, the body of an email, attachments, etc. – is never shared, even when the most permissive sharing settings are enabled. Analysis is done on your machine; nothing has to leave the firm firewall.
Installation & Help DotAlign for Outlook is typically installed on your computer by IT, and should appear automatically in Outlook as a sidebar. First-time setup generally takes only a few minutes to complete. To get started, enter your name and work email, and select at least one mailbox to analyze. You may also select your sharing level now (or later, in the Settings area ). If you would like to import your connections from LinkedIn, you can do this later via Settings. Need help? Review our website www.dotalign.com/help for FAQs, or contact your internal DotAlign liaison. If you need troubleshooting help, please contact us at [email protected] or (212) 706 8630. You can also send us ongoing diagnostics by opting in to DotAlign Health (Settings -> Advanced Tools).
