carrying the name of a country!

    Once upon a time...

  • Once upon a time there was an artistic challenge of creating the first living show carrying the name of a country! A magnificently unique contemporary show, combining top level acrobatics and dance thanks to exceptional collaborations. A crazy bet originating from multiple encounters and a common motivation: to highlight the Principality of Monaco

Monaco, The Show , will be created by Cirque loize. It will be directed by Krista Monson. Over the years, she has orchestrated over 40 shows in Canada and the United States, and has been working with Cirque du Soleil for the past ten years. The choreographies will be created by Debra Brown, who has worked with Madonna, Cline Dion, and, with Cirque du Soleil as well. The music, will be especially composed by Ren Dupr, the author of the famous piece Alegria of the eponymous show! A journey through the most beautiful symbols of Monaco and an unprecedented experience for the public

For here lies the originality of the show: the spectators are literally struck even before entering the theatre. Immersed in a dreamlike universe, they are totally part of the show: they are in Monaco, savoring its charms, its culture and grace from the sea shores to the red carpets They are not watching a performance; they are living it from the inside!

is an extraordinary epic not to be missed. The show sensation of the year for 2015!

    THE SHOW

    Krista Monson & Jeannot Painchaud

Jeannot Painchaud, Salim Zeghdar & Bernard Olivier

First Meeting between Jeannot Painchaud, Krista Monson & H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco

While in New York for the end-of-year celebrations in 2013, Salim Zeghdar met with Bernard Olivier. They decided to go see Cirko-polis.. They were spellbound by this Cirque loize show, which received the Drama Desk Award for Unique Theatrical Experience a few months later. For years, Salim had been dreaming of crea-ting a show highlighting the Principalitys values, Bernard was also a producer

They were convinced they had found the company that would bring their idea to life. The warm welcoming they received back-stage confirmed their feeling. They got a hold of Jeannot Painchaud, the company cofoun-ders, contact information. When he received a call from Salim, he was surprised at first, but quickly seduced by the artistic challenge: creating the first show carrying the name of a country

They met for the first time in Las Vegas in 2013 at an exceptional event organized by the One Drop Foundation, which strives to ensure water accessibility throughout the world. Krista Monson was the director of the events first edition One Night for One Drop, which resulted in a specta-cular evening, including a very unique show, for the many donors and patrons. Jeannot Painchaud was in the audience.

Completely astounded, he would later say: I sat next to Krista Monson and after thirty minutes, I knew I would entrust her with my next show. She works for Cirque du Soleil, but she has the Eloize spirit . Conquered by Kristas open-mindedness and spontaneity, he soon talked to her about Monaco, certain that she would bring the best collaborators together for this excep-tional show.

When Krista came to present her vision of the Monaco project to H.S.H. Prince Albert II, she wasnt aware that he already knew her Indeed, he had attended the opening and closing ceremonies of the World Cham-

pionships in Athletics, in Atlanta, and he remembered having very much apprecia-ted her creative and accomplished direc-tors skills He knew he could trust her.

MONACO, THE SHOW, ORIGINATES FROM AN IDEA,

    BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY FROM ENCOUNTERS

    F O R

Cirque loize begins with a story, that of its co-founder, Jeannot Painchaud, who left his native Magdalen Islands in 1984 to go to Gasp. There, he attended the very first show by a company that would soon become a world reference: Cirque du Soleil. He was so thrilled that he enrolled at the National Circus School in Montreal.

A new genre was then emerging, far more contemporary. The walls between dance and theater were exploding, art was in mo-tion

Aware that there was also a renewal of the circus foundations in France, Jeannot Painchaud decided to cross the ocean... An entertainer at heart, he performed in the streets of Avignon, Cannes and Saint-Tropez and loved that very typical French poetic touch. An idea was slowly starting to take shape: stretching the limits and reaching beyond the horizon.

Separated by an ocean, two contemporary circus movements were evolving simul-taneously. In Quebec, physical theatre, acrobatics and dance were developing while, in France, the traditional model was being deconstructed. It translated into the birth of a large-scale modern circus on the one-hand and of little and more experimental forms on the other. This double influence was to be Cirque loizes DNA.

This innovative troupe is now world-renow-ned for its humanity and theatricality. Driven by the multi-disciplinary talents of its artists, the company combines circus arts with music, dance and theater in a path-breaking, original and moving manner.

It is precisely for its artistic wealth and strong family spirit that Cirque Eloize was chosen to carry the colors of Monaco. For a country limited by the boundaries of the sea, nothing was more appropriate than a company that could shatter the borders of reality.

Cirque loize is 10 original creations, 1,300 special events, 4,000 performances in 40 countries, 100 permanent employees and close to 4 million spectators everywhere in the world.
