LeADING THOuGHTs

As we enter into the final quarter of year 2013, it is indeed an honour for me to

announce that despite the mushrooming of several hotels within the region, Dorsett Hospitality International is still going strong by recording a revenue of HKD$1,088.9 million for the first six months; an increase of 96.7% revenue year on year. Our company’s gross profit has also increased by 44% compared to last financial year; we have achieved HKD$456.3million in total.

To wrap up this year with a bang, we have also entered into an agreement with both Mayland Group Malaysia and Far East Consortium International Ltd to manage Dorsett hotels in Malaysia such as Silka Cheras, Dorsett Putrajaya, Dorsett Hartamas and sri Jati Hotel. This will add another 1000 rooms giving the group a total room inventory count of over 8500 and a portfolio of 29 hotels.

At corporate level, we have established our branding even further when we became a member of Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) and exhibited ourselves at PATA Travel Mart 2013 for the first time. We have carved another milestone when Dorsett Hospitality International hosted the PATA Executive Board and Board Member Dinner at Dorsett Grand Chengdu. This is a mark of excellence for us!

Hot from PATA Travel Mart in Chengdu, Dorsett International headed to Singapore for ITB Asia, “The Trade show for the Asian Travel Market.” Not only did we exhibited and made our branding prominent in the said tradeshow, we have also raised a record breaking amount of SGD$100,000, in the jointly hosted rooftop party with Diamond Resorts International in partnership with Web-In-Travel. Proceeds raised from this event were channelled to the Cambodian Phare Circus.

As a young and aggressively growing company, we do believe that our people are our assets. In Kuala Lumpur recently, Dorsett International and INTI International penned a memorandum of understanding whereby Dorsett International will

provide professional industry trainings to INTI Hospitality’s undergraduates. This would thus allow the younger generations to be better equipped with hands-on experience and knowledge before they join the industry.

While we provide industry trainings for INTI Hospitality’s Undergraduates, INTI International in return will conduct refresher courses for Dorsett Associates. I believe that our associates will then have richer theoretical knowledge, combined with the practical abilities that they already have. Kudos to Kate Ho, the Director of Human Capital Development and team for initiating this programme!

I must also congratulate some of our hotels respectively like Dorsett Regency Kuala Lumpur and Dorsett Grand Labuan for adding more awards to their belts and Lan Kwai Fong Hotel@Kau U Fong for clinching yet another award at World Travel Awards 2013! Well done and let us develop our Dorsett brand further!

And before I end my note, on behalf of the management of Dorsett Hospitality International, allow me to wish you a healthy and successful year 2014!

Should you have any queries or suggestions for Dorsett International, I would like to hear from you via email [email protected]

scOReBOARD

The board (the “Board”) of directors (the “Directors”) of Dorsett Hospitality International Limited (the

“Company”) is pleased to announce the unaudited condensed consolidated results of the Company and its subsidiaries (the “Group”) for the six months ended 30 september 2013 as follows:

financial HighlightsRevenue reached HK$1,088.9

million for the first six months, up 96.4% year on year. The growth was predominantly attributable to the sales of apartments in Singapore. Revenue per available room (“RevPAR”) declined 9.7% to HK$561 driven by combination on drop of 6% points on occupancy rate (“OCC”) to 75% and a decline on average room rate (“ARR”) of 2.5% to HK$749.

on a lfl(1) basis, RevPAR declined by 4.1%

to HK$589 largely due to 3.0% drop of ARR and a marginal drop of 1% point on OCC.

Gross profit came in at HK$456.3 million, up 44.0% compared with the same period of the last financial year. Net profit declined 39.5% to HK$330.2 million.

Earnings per share was HK16.5 cents, 39.5% lower than that of the same period of the last financial year.

Like for like basis, excluding results from hotels which did not fully operate during the periods under review for both current and last financial years. The hotels being excluded comprise of Dorsett Regency Hotel, Hong Kong, Dorsett Kwun Tong, Hong Kong, Dorsett Grand Chengdu and Dorsett Singapore.

business and operational reviewGlobal economic performance for the period under

review remains subdued largely due to the prolonged recession in the European region and slower growth in the emerging markets. Nevertheless, driven by the sales of apartments in Singapore and continuous growth of our hotel operation, the Group’s revenue increased by 96.4% to reach HK$1,088.9 million for the first half of the financial year 2014 (“FY2014”).

Net profit of the Group was however declined by 39.5% to 330.2 million in view of the higher base in the corresponding period due to the gain on disposal of a subsidiary.

destinations in PRc. The transaction was completed in October 2013 and the Group will officially open the hotel in the month of April 2014.

In line with the Group’s “Chinese Wallet” strategy to capture the market share for the increasing outbound Chinese travellers, in the month of September 2013, the Group entered into a transaction to acquire the “Walkabout” pub and restaurant building, which is located just next to the Group’s 317 rooms Dorsett Shepherds Bush London hotel that is currently under construction. This hideous embarrassment in front of the whole town requires revenge! The stage was thus set glamorously in 1920’s Australian Art Decoration specially for the sweet revenge!
