Firstly, I would like to take this opportunity in wishing you and your Company a prosperous 2011. 2010 was an exceptional year for Dornan Engineering, and I’m delighted to see we have carried our positive momentum through to this year.
Throughout2010,weachievedstrongresultsdueinlargeparttotheawardoftheElectrical/InstrumentationpackageonPembrokePower Station as well as our continued growth in the UK andBelgiummarkets.ThisisanexcitingtimeforDornanEngineeringandwearelookingforwardtonewgrowthopportunitiesinthemonthsahead.Thusfarwe’vebeenextremelypleasedwith thedemandofour services,securingnewprojectsintheITandFitoutsectors.RoadmapfortheFutureThere’s no dodging the fact, 2011will be a difficult year for theconstruction industry but our awareness of the market placeindicatesabetterroadahead.Onourpart,weintendtocontinuetodifferentiateDornanEngineeringfromtheCompetitionbyfurtherimprovingourCustomerService.Duringthefirstquarterof2011weintendtoholdanumberofin-houseseminarsfocusingonthecriticalaspectsofourbusiness;“Business Development, Human Resources and Operations”asIknowthatit’simportantthewholeCompanystaysfocusedtoourgoal ofcontinuously developing effective and innovative policies that ensure Dornan Engineering continues to expand the key role we play for existing and new clients around the globe.Iwant toensureall employeesareupdatedand trainedonnewandexistingprocedures& IT tools. Dornan Engineering’s EHS Manager submitted an assignment to the National Irish Safety Organisation / Northern Ireland Safety Group in July 2010.
After 3 months of adjudicating from theNISOpanelon600entries,118companiesreceivedawardswithDornanEngineeringreceiving the 3rd highest award on thenight–ThePresident’sAward.This All Ireland Award was presentedto EHS Manager Paula Kennedy byMary O’Rourke TD in recognition of theconsistent commitment to excellencein Health and Safety Management bythe company over a number of years.Traditionally,multinationalcompanieshavereceived the President’s award thereforeDornanEngineeringaredelightedtohavebrokennewgroundinthisarea.2010 was not the first time that DornanEngineering had taken part in theNISO Awards. The company receivedrecognition from NISO for 5 consecutiveyears including three Regional Awardsand aDistinctionAward.However, it wasthe consistent commitment to ongoingimprovement in health & safety that leadto itswinningofoneof the topaccoladesthisyear.Inconjunctionwithcorebusinesselements,safetydeliberationsareamalgamatedintoall aspects of operations including thedevelopment of safe processes and riskmanagementwithlegislativerequirements
In May 2010, Dornan Engineering were audited by “Safety Schemes in Procurement”.
Our EHS Manager compileddocumentary evidence to meetthe questions on our policy andarrangements for Health and Safetywithinthecompany.
CompliancewithUKHealthandSafetyRegulations encompassed 50% ofthe submission with the core criteriaembodiedintheCDMRegulations.
Being CHAS Compliant will enableDornan’stosecurecontractsintheUK.Eachmonth,thousandsofcontractorsand consultants apply for work withpublicandprivatesectororganisationsintheUK.
The CHAS system was necessaryin order to secure the Great MinisterHousecontract.
In the earlier part of 2010 Dornan Engineering applied for the ECIA Safety acknowledgement.
AtthetimeofgoingtoprinttheSafetyDepartment are working on anAchillesQuestionnairerelatingtothecompaniessafetyandenvironmentalprocedures.
NISO Award for Dornandefining theminimum level of acceptableworkpractices.EHSManager,PaulaKennedywentontosay that “the NISOPresidentsAwardwillbeusedasa benchmark in our objectivetowardscontinuousimprovement”.
Safety through environmental standardsis aDornanmottowhich emphasises thebelief that by doing our everydaywork inaprofessionalmannerwithrespectforourcolleagues and clients, we will naturallycreateasafeworkenvironment.Achievingthe President’sAward is a culmination ofyearsofeffortbyacompanywhocanbejustifiablyproud.

In March 2010 our EHS Manager, Paula Kennedy, ventured into the UK Health & Safety Awards, the first application by Dornan Engineering.
The key fixture in the UK Health andSafety calendar offers organisations aprime opportunity to prove their ongoingcommitment to raising health and safetystandards.The RoSPA awards are not just aboutreducing the number of accidents andcases of ill-health at work; they help toensurethatorganisationshavegoodhealthandsafetymanagementsystemsinplace.Inthecurrenteconomicclimate,theseawardsdemonstratethatemployerscareabouttheiremployeesandwillnotlethealthandsafetystandardsslipeveniftimesaretough.
Kennedy said that ‘Dornan Engineeringhave shown a commitment to protectingthehealthandwellbeingofitsemployeesand others. Entering the RoSPA awardsreinforces the message that good healthandsafetyisgoodforbusiness,andclearlydemonstratesanorganisation’sdedicationto improving performance in this crucialarea.’
The Awards Ceremony was held at theHilton Metropole Hotel in Birmingham on13thMay2010.TheprestigiousSilverAwardwaspresentedby Lord Jordan of Bournville, CBE, toDerekDuffy,OperationsDirector & PaulaKennedy,EHSManager.
Dornan Engineering were audited on November 8th – 10th 2010 inclusive on our Safety Management Systems, OHSAS 18001 & our Environmental Management Systems 14001 by an external auditing company.
Theauditor revieweddocumentation fromour sites in Ireland, Frankfurt, Belgium,LondonaswellasourCCGTPowerPlantinWales. (Aspecial thankyou toourSiteSafety Manager in Pembroke, SteveGriffiths & his team for their efforts inpreparingthePembrokesitefortheaudit).The environmental and safety legislativerequirements for each of these countries
has been successfully transcribed intoDornanenvironmentandsafetysystems.Higher level systems such as LegalCompliance, Aspects & Impacts,Improvement Initiatives, ManagementProgrammesandOrderProgressionwereaudited. Documents at site level such asauditfindings,accident investigations,riskassessmentsetcwerealsoaudited.Itwasa great achievement to havebeenauditedfor3daysandnottohaveanyNonConformance Report issued against thecompanyacrossitsEuropeanlocations.Congratulations to our EHS Manager,PaulaKennedy,whohasbeensuccessfulin securing a position on a newly formed
panel for safety professionals in October2010. There were several applicantsfor the position with 7 candidates beingappointed. The other 6 candidates arefrom manufacturing & pharmaceuticalenvironments as well as two candidatesfromIBEC.
Thepanel,named‘Health&SafetyExpertsfor Europe and theMiddle East’ are nowproviding expert advice to manufacturingand pharmaceutical companies settingup offices in European and Middle Eastlocations.

Dornan Engineering commenced work at the Pembroke Power Station on 7th June 2010, involving the Electrical & instrumentation and HVAC packages of work the largest combined cycle power plant ever built on a plant in UK.
Our first task was to ensure for thesafeguardofourworkforce.Astheprojectislocated8kmoutsideofPembroketown,inaremoteareaandduetothecongestednatureonsitewithonlyavailabilityof20carparkingspaces,Dornandecided(undertheapprovalofAlstom)totransportbybusallemployeestoandfromthesite.We investigated a number of centrallocations close to the main road and railnetworks around Pembroke town. Ourestimateistoemployaworkforceofaround350 people over the project duration.Westarted by developing a detailed GreenTravel Plan for submission for approvalto proceed to Alstom. This has resultedin renting car park spaces and utilisingbetween 4 to 5 coaches daily duringpeak times, staggered to alleviate roadcongestioninthearea.
Theaimof thisGreenTravelPlanwas tominimise the impact of car travel on theenvironment, by reducing congestion,enhancingaccessibilityandimprovinglocalair quality. Dornan Engineering’s GreenTravel Plan is a package of behaviouraland physical initiatives adopted by us, tobothreducedependencyoncartravelandtopromotetheuseofalternativemodesoftransportorwaysofworkingthatwillreducecaruse toand from thePembrokepowerstation and the immediate road networksurrounding theprojects site location.Wewantthistravelplantoworkandactasourstrategicdocumenttomanagetheprojectstransportdemands.In order to meet our green travel plantargets, there is a number of actions wehave taken to ensure success. Thesecanbeused toagreateror lesserextentaccording to local conditions, and willbe selected to suit the project and localauthority requirements. Dornan consultedwith Alstom and The Pembroke CountyCouncilTransportPlanners /Engineersatanearlystage,onthescopeoftheGreenTravel Plan. This ensured that all thenecessary considerationshadbeen takenonboardforimplementation.
From day one our site team were underpressure to commence construction, withthefirstofthe400/21kVGSUtransformersalready in place and ready for assembly.The project timescale for the completeelectricalinstallationis13monthswhichasyou can imagine is extremely demandingeveninidealconditions.Ourfirsttaskwastoappointmentsub-contractsforspecialistwork, risk assessments and methodstatementsforapprovalfromAlstomaswellasapprovalofthecontractprogramme.We

hadafloodofdesigninformationtodigestinordertobuildtospecification.Duetothefasttracknatureoftheprojectanumberofturnover packages were partially handedoverinordertominimiseanydelay.The build of theArevaGSU transformerswas an extremely difficult job butcongratulations toallour teamformakingithappen.TheCaribonibusductwas thefirst of its type installed by our appointedsub-contractor and raised a number ofchallengesalthoughwehadtheavailabilityof another specialist to assist in itscompletion.Thecablebasementshad tobefittedoutwith cable containment– although theyare not actually basements - because of
the switchrooms been delivered in modularformandliftedontosupportsteelworkwiththecablewaysbuiltatgroundlevel.Despiteearlychallenges on the project the first systems –referred to as TOP’s (Turn Over Packages)on Unit 11 were delivered to schedule. ThespiderswebofscaffoldwithintheTurbineHallmadeitdifficultfortheteamwheninstallingthecontainment to theGas&SteamandSteamTurbineAreasbutonwesailnontheless.The400kV cable routes from the NG sub-stationhasstartedandisprogressingwell.
There has been major rane lifts of majorand expensive electrical equipment includingmodularSwitchrooms,GeneratorcircuitBreakerandDieselGenerators.

Co-ordination andplanning continues tobeacriticalasweworkthrough to the HRSGonunit11.There has been afantastic effort by theteam on site to datein extremely difficultconditions, but thechallengeswillcontinueas the requirement toacceleratelooms.
LEADING FINANCIAL COMPANYDornan Engineering Services were awarded the initial pre-construction M&E surveying works scope and then subsequent JCT Contract for the complete refurbishment of a leading Finance company, at Kingswood in Surrey.
The works include the replacement of all roofcoolingplantincludingCoolingTowersandChillersets(whichhadtobecarriedoutbyhelicopter)andthe replacement of existing M&E plant including
Generator set upgrades and Fire Alarmsystemworks,allwhilstkeepingtheexistingbuildingoperational24/7whichincludesallmissioncriticalplantservingthecompany’sexistingmainDatacentre.Theworksalsoincludethecompleteinternalrefurbishment of their existing offices aswell as upgrading the BMS systems to athoroughbreedTrendsystemandreplacingall thedata transfersystems.Theseworksare being carried out over 6 section andsomeworks thatneed tobecarriedout tothecommonareasarebeingundertakenoutofhours.The initial pre-construction works wasto conduct detailed M&E surveys andevaluate proposed changes to the dataand meeting / conference room facilities,detailed programming and detailed sitelogistics commencing fully on site on 16thAugust2010.TheprojectfinallycompletesinDecember2011.
Dornan Engineering Services fought offfierce completion to win the project on asinglestagefixedpricebasisagainst3othercompanies.
GMHDornan Engineering are providing the mechanical and electrical scope of work at Great Minster House, location of the Department of Transport.The mechanical works include replacement andrefurbishmentofVAVunit,attenuatorsandreplacementofallexistinggrilles,cleaningofallductworkandupgradeofBMSsystem.Theelectricalworksincludereplacementofexistingluminairesandinstallationofnewlightingbusbarsystemtoincludedali lightingcontrol,emergency lightingwithcentralbatterysystem.Great Minster House comprises two separate, but linkedbuildingsapproximately27,300msqoversixfloorscurrentlyhousing1,600people.
SCHERING PLOUGHDornan Engineering is carrying out the HVAC Services Contract at Schering Plough’s (Now MSD) Sterile Upgrade project in Heist Op-Den Berg, Belgium.
The project works consists of extension of Blackutilities, steam, condensate, chilled and heatingwaterservicestonewpenthouseplantroomservingtheclientsnewsterilepackagingarea.Dornan Engineering designed and provided a 3-dmodel for the proposed HVAC installation as wellasinstallingallducting,inlinecomponentsandfournumbercustomdesignedlaminarairflowboothstoprovidegradeAoperational areas.Phase1 of theproject is nearing completion with commissioningscheduledtobecompletedbyendofFebruary2011.

Dornan Engineering continues to offer the reassurance to complete projects to high standards demanded by our Clients.Supply line management involvesbuilding close relationships withselectedsuppliersandinmanycasesparticipating in client’s certificationschemes.
One such scheme is the AchillesBuildingConfidenceschemeonwhichwearecertified.The scheme is a supply lineaccreditation standard whichassesses our abilities in areas ofsafety, sustainability,Quality, financialstability,continuousimprovement.Among the companies who use‘BuildingConfidence’asthemeanstoassesstheirsuppliersareBovisLendLease, British Land, Costain, DavisLangdon,KierGroup,Mace,ShepherdConstruction, Simons Construction,Skanska,SwiftHorsmanandTarmac.
Quality
Dornan Engineering is a member of the NICEIC’s (National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting) Approved Contractor Scheme. ThisfollowsassessmentbytheNICEICofprojectscompletedinIrelandandtheUK.
The NICEIC’s Approved ContractorSchemeisdesignedtomaintainandpublisha register of electrical contractors thathavebeenassessedagainstaspecificsetofcompetencyrequirements, inparticularthenationalelectricalsafetystandardBS7671theIEEWiringRegulations.
All Approved Contractors are subject toperiodic assessments. The purpose ofthe periodic assessment is to check thatthe business is maintaining its technicalstandardsandiscontinuingtocomplywiththeNICEICrulesrelatingtoenrolment.
While our recently completed M&E projects at GlaxoSmithKline in Coleford Gloucestershire and EMC in Cork involved traditional system test, commissioning and handover at project completion, many of our projects now undergo continual phased handover of systems and zones as the project progresses.
Continual mid project handover ofcompleted installations is challengingforourQualityteambuthascontributedto improved onsite quality and projectcontrol.
Our team on the Legal and GeneralProjectinSurreyhavebeensuccessfullycompleting and handing over sectionsof the occupied live building includingall inspection, test, commissioning andhealth and safety records applicable tothescopeofwork.
FromaQualitypointofvieweachweeklyreport reflects progress on methodstatements for future commissioningactivities, progress on areas currentlybeingcommissioned,anddocumentationstatusonareasforwhichcommissioningiscomplete.TodatewehavesuccessfullyhandedoverseveralM&Esectionsofthelivebuilding,androofplantroom.
On the CCGT (Combined Cycle Gas
Turbine)PowerPlant inPembroke, ourQualityandHandoverteamaremeetingan aggressive schedule of systemturnovers for the electrical installationandmorespecialistareasoftransformerand bus duct assembly and complexcablesupportstructures.
The project will see a progressivehandingoverofsystemsineachofthe5turbinehalls(Units11to51)insuccessionincluding completion of the commonsupportfacilitiesonsite.TodateUnit11issubstantiallyhandedoverandturnoverof systems in units 11, 21 and 31 nowoverlap, demanding close co-operationbetweenDornanAreaSuperintendents,Dornan project planning, control andqualityteamsandAlstomEngineers.
OurvisionistofurtherdevelopourQualityManagement and project handoversystems to allow and offer ongoingverificationandturnoverofsystemsandbuildingzones.
Our Mechanical division comes under the spot light of BM TRADA (Certification body accredited by UKAS).
As members of the HVCA (Heating andVentilating Contractors Association)DornanEngineering is subject to a regularindependent third party inspection andassessment audit to verify our technicalcompetenceandcommercialcapability.
BMTRADACertificationcarriesoutalloftheinspectionandassessmentvisits forHVCAandhasdone so since the scheme launchinApril2003.
MembershipofthirdpartySchemesprovidesourclientswiththeconfidencethatourworkiscompletedbycompetentstaffandcomplieswithrelevantsafetyandQualitystandards.

Dornan acquires new Central London location
Dornan Engineering UK is pleased to announce that it has successfully moved offices, from initial setup in Hammersmith to the heart of Westminster, neighbouring the Houses of Parliament.
Our new offices offer increased officespace, together with an upgrading ofour IT infrastructure;whichwill providebetter facilities and services for ouremployees&clientsinthefuture.ThemoveallowsDornanEngineeringtooccupya largerfloorspaceon thefifthfloorofNo.36Broadway,Westminster.ThenearestUnderground isSt.JamesParkTubeStation.
36Broadwayprovidesa200%increasein the floor area from our last office inHammersmith. The move is a sign ofour business’s rapid development overthe lastyearandalso fulfilsastrategic
objective to buildcapacityforthefuture.
Clients of DornanEngineering willbenefit immediatelyfrom the move inhaving more meetingrooms and betterfacilitiesavailable.At the same time,Dornan EngineeringUK has upgraded itsITinfrastructure.

After months of concise planning and preparation, Dornan’s team, led by Project Manager Paul Morley and Health & Safety Manager Martin Rooney, executed a successful Helicopter lifting and final positioning of new Chillers and Cooling Towers to L4 Roof of the Kingswood site, Surrey.
SupportedonthedaybyHelirigLtdandPlantMovementsLtd,theHelicoptertookofffromtheGeneralSportsfield,on theEastsideof thebuildingandtook just75minstoexecute20lifts.Atotalof4chillers,8compressors,4coolingtowersand4coolingtowersfanswereliftedintoplace.Theheaviestoftheequipmentweighedinat2.5tonnes.Ateamof14menwereonhandtoensuretheliftingwasexecutedasplanned.Allpiecesofequipmentweremarkedoutandnumbered,correspondingtotheplacementareaon the roof for thePilot to navigate the equipment intoplacewitheaseandprecision.Allpartiesinvolvedwerepleasedwiththesmoothrunningoperationoftheliftontheday.

FollowingonfromthesuccessfulrelationshipbuiltbetweenMaceandDornanEngineeringServiceson the Newbury Data Centre for NationwideBuildingSociety,whereMaceachievedtheBritishSafetyCouncil5Staraward,theSwordofHonourand the 5 Star Environmental Award we werekeentoensurethehighstandardsachievedweremaintained on all of our science and technologyprojects.
Health and Safety was therefore a keyconsideration when awarding the sub-contractfortheworksatKingswoodHouse,astheprojectcontainssomeparticularchallengesincludingtheliftingofnewplantsontotheroofbyhelicopter.
Dornan have yet again proved to be the rightchoice; winning our monthly health and safetyleague three months running despite toughcompetitionfromothersub-contractors.
TheproactiveapproachtoHealthandSafetyandthecommitmentofapermanentrepresentativeinMartinRooneyforthistaskhaveallplayedapartinthisachievement,ashastheactiveparticipationinthesafetycommitteemeetingsandourBMOS(Behavioural Management of Safety) schemewhichseekstomodifytheactionsofthoseworkingonsitebygettingthemtolookatwhatisandisnotsafeonsiteforthemselves.Theaimistochangeallofourattitudestosafetyandcreateanongoingsafeculture.
Themanagementandexecutionofthehelicopterlifting and plant movement activities over thecourse of one weekend again had to be wellplanned and coordinated in advance betweenour two companies to ensure logistics, securityand welfare requirements were all meshed andcould be cohesively presented to the client andtheir CDM-C (Construction Design ManagementCo-ordinator), responsible for advising the clientonthesuitabilityofourmethodsfromaHealth&Safetypointofview.
Theworkswerecarriedouttoplanwithoutahitchand 20 lifts were completed in 75 minutes withloads of up to 2.5 tonnes beingmoved.We stillhave twelve months to run on this project andplentymore challenges to face but we can lookforwardwithconfidenceknowingwehavetherightteamforthejob.

Dornan Engineering has completed the Mechanical installation of the state-of-the-art baggage handling system at Dublin Airport new Terminal 2 facility.
Theprojectwaspartofthenew75,000sqmTerminal2buildingwhichhasthecapacityto allow 15 million passengers use thefacilityannually.Terminal2,whichopenedonthe19thNovember2010,took3yearstocompleteandatacostof€609m.Dornan Engineering was selected bySiemensAirportLogistics,aglobalmarketleader in baggage and cargo handlingsolutions and systems integration forairports, to install the baggage systemon one of Ireland’s most prestigiousconstructionprojects.Dornan Engineering’s scope of workincluded the mechanical installation of 6kilometresofconveyorsystem,56check-indesks&6arrivalcarousels.Theprojectwasdividedinto13sectorsandcovered 3 main areas; the baggage hall,check-inareaandthearrivalsarea.The system included x-ray facilities andradiationscannersforscreeningbagsandparcels as well as arrival carousels forpassengerbagcollection.Theinstallationofsuchacomplex,diverseand state-of-the-art system took greatplanning and dedication from the DornanEngineeringsite&managementteam.Theprojectwascompletedwithzero time lossincludingallsubcontractors.
Dornan Engineering has just currently the Mechanical and Electrical installation works for Google at 1 Grand Canal, Dublin 4.
The building will be used for GoogleEngineeringEuropeanHeadquarters.The fast track project commenced inOctober2010andisdueforcompletioninJanuary2011.Google is not a conventional companyand does not intend to become one,this isapparent in theirnew7500sq/m

TheprojectallowedfortheretentionoflistedbuildingsandshopfrontsalongD’OlierStreetbutpermittedtheremoval&redevelopmentofthebuildingsalongFleetStreetandtheconstructionofa largeatriumconnectingtheoriginallistedbuildingswithanewstructurefacingFleetStreet.
Thegrossfloorareaofthedevelopmentis8,427squaremetres(90,707squarefeet)ofwhich2,309squaremetres(24,854squarefeet)isretainedfloorspace and 6,118 square metres (65,854 square feet) is new floorspace.
Thedevelopmentconsistsofamixofcommercial,retail,restaurantandhighendresidentialunits.
TheIrishAviationAuthoritymovedintotheBuildinginMay2010andarecurrentlythemaintenantintheBuilding.

Dornan Engineering UK are pleased to have been involved in the project which was part of GSK’s recent £67m investment in the new bottling plant at Coleford – the largest capital investment for the Consumer Healthcare business at GSK.
Wecarriedoutthemechanicalandelectricalinstallation, working closely with ProjectManagement and the GSK managementteam. We worked hand in hand with ourhelpfulclient toensure that therewerenoproblemswiththeproject,despiteworkingincloseproximitytotheoperatingplant.We co-ordinated with the bottling plantinstallersandoperators,Logoplaste,aswellas the other contractors on site includingChalcroft.Webuilta loadbearingscaffoldto take the20 tonne chillers and installedalltheplantsuccessfully,inaverytightsiteperimeter.
TheMechanicalandHVACScopeincludedAir Handling Units & associated ductingsystems, Steam and Condensate pipe,Chilled Water and Condenser pipe workfromAdsorption chillers toHybridCoolingTowers,LPHWpipework fromasteamtoLPHW heat Exchanger, Domestic WaterPipework,AirConditioning system to theOffices and Lab, Building ManagementSystem and instrumentation., Air &Waterside commissioning of the abovesystems.TheElectricalScopeconsistedofLVboards,Mains Cables from the HT Transformersto theLVBoards,SubDistributionBoardsand all Cabling from LV boards, powercabling to HVAC plant small power, LVpowertomouldingplant,DatacablingandData installation, FireAlarm and interfacewith the existing factory alarm, earthinginstallation,lighteningprotectioninstallationandSecuritySystem.Thesystemshad tobecommissionedinphasesandwecarriedoutacontrolledhandoverofthesystemsinaphasedmannerasproductionequipmentwasinstalledandbroughtonline.

Dornan’s has completed the implementation of an energy saving project on EMC² Campus, in Ovens, Co. Cork.
EMC²isaworldleadingdatamanagementand IT infrastructure provider. They havebeen successfully implementing energysavingstrategiesintheirCorkplant,andthisproject forms another part of their overallplan. Supported by SEAI (SustainableEnergy Authority of Ireland), the projecthas successfully implemented free coolingtechnologytoanumberofareasatEMC².The Dornan project team consisted ofDermotDaly,TimO’Donnell,PeterFarrell,PaulMcGuireandKevinDonovan,whoallworkedcloselywithARUPCork,andEMC²toensurethattheintegrationofnewserviceswithsystemsandwithinoperational roomsproceededwithoutanyserviceinterruptions.Theprojectrequiredclosecoordinationwithmany large crane lifts, varied work frontsandtightdeadlines.Ambient Rooms: the Air Handling Unitswithmixingsectionswerere-furbishedandAHUs which were recirculation only hadmixing sections installed. This allows thecooling load be partly or totally achievedusingfreshair.Thermocycling Rooms: free cooling wasachieved using pre-cooling coils in theAirHandlingUnitsservedbytworoofmounteddrycoolers.IDCDataCentre: free cooling is achievedby installingpre-cool coils in thecomputerroom air conditioning (CRAC) units anda dry cooler on the roof. The refrigerantbasedcomputerroomairconditioningunits(CRAC) had variable flow control valves

remainingwork.Loopcheckingisprogressingwell with 3,748 loops now complete out of atotal of 5,272. The target finish date for theTrioxane unit is the 25 February 2011, andPolymerizationistargetedfortheendofMarch2011 with the final systems handover anddemobilisationbeingcarriedoutinApril2011.InNovember2010,Dornanhadapeaklabourforceof350personnel.On the2ndFebruary2011,wewillhaveachieved500,000safeman-hourswithoutarecordableincidentoraLossofTimeIncident.Dornan’s scope of work involved the supplyof engineering design, project management,materials supply and installation services,for the Electrical and Instrumentation worksassociated with the project. This included 1million+ metres of cable, 153,000 metres ofcableladder/trayandtheinstallation/testingof~12,000instruments.This project was instigated as part of the
FrankfurtMainAirportexpansion.TheexistingTicona plant atKelsterbach is situated in theapproachpathofthenewairportrunwayandasaresultneededtoberelocated.Theresultantproject is the largest single investment in thehistoryofthecompany.TheexistingfacilityinKelsterbachisscheduledtobecloseddowninJune2011.TheengineeringdesignwascarriedoutbyFluorfromtheirofficesinHaarlem,TheNetherlandsandGliwice,Poland.ThenewTiconafacilitywillbeabletoproduceupto170000tonsofplasticgranulateperyear,a40%increaseontheKelsterbachproduction.

savings are displayed in real time.The project comprised of elements ofmechanical, electrical, BMS and buildersworks.WecarriedouttheroleofPSCSontheproject.This project builds on and continues oursuccessful relationship with EMC² wherewe had previous implemented a chillerreplacementprojectin2009.

FETAC welcomed the President of Ireland, Mary McAleese, along with learners and distinguished guests to celebrate one million people who have achieved FETAC awards since 2001.
This celebration is important for manyreasons. One million learners all overIreland have completed challengingprogrammes, learned new skills andtested their achievements againstobjective national standards. Valuinglearning means having it recognisedon the National Framework ofQualifications. Recognising learningcreates new opportunities personallyandsocially,andopensdoorstofurtherlearning experiences and to enhancedparticipation in the workplace. Onemillion people with FETAC awardsat levels 1-6 of the Framework wererepresented by twelve learners froma range of different programmesof learning. Sean Walsh of DornanEngineeringreceivedacommemorativeaward in Recognition of level 6AdvancedCertificateCraft.
Sean represents success in setting atarget,masteringwhathesetouttodoandawillingnesstoworktoachievehispersonal potential. From the GoldenVale of Tipperary, Sean completedhis programme in Clonmel with FAS,and also with Waterford Institute ofTechnology and the Dublin Institute ofTechnology. While in school, he wasinspiredbyaworkexperienceplacementwithalocalelectrician.HecommencedworkingwithKentzCorporationand,aspart of his apprenticeship programme,he participated in some of Ireland’majorprojects, includingthenewAvivaStadium. So when wereceivedacalltosayourinitialtargetof£2,000had nowmore than doubled and approachingthe£4,500mark,itwasneedlesstosayitthatliftedspirits&encourageduson.Thefinishwasstill50milesawayanda4mileclimb on the A477 immediately stopped thebanter and chat between us. I looked aroundeachcornerhopingthatwehadreachedthetopbuttonoavail!
