Public Broadband Computer Center The center is equipped with computers utilizing high-speed Internet and is open for members of the community to use free of charge (hours are subject to change):

• Monday: 7:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 1:30-7:30 p.m.

• Tuesday: 7:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 1:30-8 p.m.

• Wednesday: 7:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 1:30-7:30 p.m.

• Thursday: 7:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 1:30-8 p.m.

• Friday: 7:30 a.m.-noon

• Saturday: 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

• Sunday: Closed

Free classes are also offered every Saturday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. covering topics including basic internet and email usage, computer basics, Microsoft Word, creating or writing a resume, letter writing and more. You do not have to pre-register.

Academic CoursesA college education is within your reach. The Dorchester County QuickJobs Training Center offers credit courses that can apply towards a certificate, diploma or degree. Visit www.tridenttech.edu for a current listing of courses available.

Continuing Education CoursesTrain for jobs that are in demand at the Dorchester County QuickJobs Training Center. You can gain the special skills employers are looking for in your own community, without the travel time, expense and hassle. These non-credit courses are short, allowing you to find a job soon after completion.

A variety of courses and classes are offered at this TTC site including Defensive Driving, Heartsaver CPR and AED, Making Money from Your Home Computer, Phlebotomy, EMT Training, Kids’ College camps and much more.

TestingDorchester County QuickJobs Training Center offers COMPASS testing. The COMPASS test is the placement test that Trident Technical College utilizes for entrance into the college. Call 843.563.5269 for hours.

Educational Opportunity CenterThe center provides staff and services to assist adults in obtaining postsecondary education (beyond the high school/GED level).

Services include:

• Counseling (academic, personal, career and financial aid)

• College tours

• Workshops on study skills instruction, time management, self-esteem and other topics

Financial AssistanceTrident Technical College and its funding partners offer various financial aid and scholarship options for students. TTC is currently approved under the Post 9/11 GI Bill for training in specific subject areas and funding may be available for qualified veterans.

For Continuing Education Classes

• Funding may be available for qualified individuals through the Workforce Investment Act.

• Project Hope scholarships are available to members of TANF families, SNAP families, young adults aging out of foster care and low-income high school Health Science completers.

• Free career training may be available for qualified individuals interested in participating in the South Carolina Manufacturing Certification program.

• The Godow Opportunity Fund for Single Parents provides funding for selected individuals to take continuing education courses at TTC.

For Academic Courses

• SC T.E.A.C.H. Scholarship Program is available for individuals (ex. Teacher, director/owner or an assistant) working in a classroom, that are licensed/ registered or legally exempt by DSS. The classroom would need to be specifically for children ages 0-5.

• Lottery-funded tuition assistance may be available from the South Carolina Education Lottery.
