Grand Knight’s Corner – Jerry Sulak My brother knights – How time flies. It seems like only yesterday I was elected to serve as Grand Knight of Dr. Thomas A Dooley Council. Now I am at the end of my term. I would like to say that it has been both a privilege and honor to serve you these past two years. I tried the best I could to attend as many events as possible. I will always have fond memories of the past 2 years. I will never forget the 50 year Anniversary celebrations, the restarting of the Texas Hold-Em’ fund raisers, etc. I especially would like to thank our many volunteers, without them there would be no success God bless all of you. We need to continue our work and support the newly elected officers in our council. We have a great council and it can only stay this way if we all continue to be involved. I would like to give a special thank you to all of our Past Grand Knights who always gave me sound advice and helped guide me in the right direction when I had questions. Thank You, gentleman for this help. I have just returned from the annual Michigan State Knights of Columbus Convention, which was truly a moving experience. Seeing all the Brother Knights from all around the state with all the same goals was truly inspiring. Also to seeing the 4th Degree living rosary was a truly moving experience. The delegates (me included), elected a new State Deputy and State Officers. They are as follows: State Deputy- Kenneth B. Unterbrink, State Secretary – Antonio G. Vittorini, State Treasurer- William H. Chasse, State Advocate- Walter K. Winkle, and State Warden –Christopher Kolomjec. Thank you to The Council for selecting me as our delegate to the Convention.
Even though activities are a little slower during the summer, we do have several coming up: The Nine and Dine Golf Outing, the annual Corn roast, Texas Hold-em and the parish picnic just to mention a few. As always, we also need to grow our organization. One of the main focuses at the convention was membership growth. Younger members are needed to insure the growth of our organization. If you have a Brother, Brother- In-Law, nephew or friend, ask them to join. In closing, I want to say thank you to each and every Brother Knight and their families for their support and continued participation in our council events. I will still be active in our council and offer any advice I can. Have a Happy Summer!! God Bless You All Jerry Sulak - Grand Knight

MICHIGAN STATE
COUNCIL TIGERDAY 2016
DETROIT TIGERS VS. KANSAS CITY ROYALS
SATURDAY, JULY 16, 2016-7:05 PM
The 2016 Knights of Columbus Tiger Day will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 7:05 PM against the World Champions Kansas City Royals. As it has been done over the past years all ticket requests must be sent to the State Director of Special Projects and Athletics, Mark Gaworecki.
DO NOT SEND TICKET REQUESTS TO THE TIGER BOX
OFFICE.
This year once again we have tickets in the baseline box seat area along the right field line and in the mezzanine area. The Lower Baseline Box Seats are $48.00 each and the Mezzanine Seats are $30.00 each. We currently have 200 box seats and 200 mezzanine seats for sale to our Brother Knights for this Saturday night game. This is considered a premium game so the cost of the tickets are above the normal day ticket prices. At this time there are fireworks scheduled for after the ballgame and it is J.D. Martinez Bobblehead Night as well, this is subject to change. The cost of the ticket is what the Knights pay for them from the Tigers.
All ticket requests must include payment in full. Orders, which do not include payment, will not be processed. Make all checks payable to the MICHIGAN STATE COUNCIL with Tiger Day on the memo line.
What a great way to spend a warm July weekend evening with your Brother Knights and the 2016 Detroit Tigers. So don't delay and get your ticket requests in early. You don't want to be left out. ALL TICKET REQUESTS MUST BE RECEIVED NO LATER THAN FRIDAY, JUNE 17, 2016.
If you should have any questions, please feel free to contact me at 313-388-6912.

Help Habitat Build Homes
Most of us know that Habitat for Humanity (H4H) helps poor people become home owners. H4H doesn't just give away homes to anyone. But they work with needy people who are down & out and help them become home-owners. They've done this for years, helping thousands of people around the world. And they need our help. Beginning this year, the Thomas A. Dooley Council of the KofC has started a pilot program to assist the Habitat For Humanity effort. Habitat for Humanity helpers either donate household goods (in good working order) they no longer need, or, they help in building homes for the poor, either building the homes, or by raising money to buy the goods needed. To assist the KofC in their pilot program, you are asked to take your usable couches, chairs, tables, lamps, etc. to the Habitat For Humanity ReStore on Grand River, across from Botsford Hospital, on Saturday, August 13, 2016. Volunteers from the K of C will be there to help you unload your tax deductible donations. Call 734-591-0360 for more information. Please help us, help others.

Be a Voice for the Voiceless Dear Brother Knights
I would like to share a few observations with you concerning the abortion mill in Westland located on the corner of Christine and Ford road, one block east of Wayne road on Ford (North side of the street). This abortion mill is one of two run by Renee Chilean. Twenty –five Percent of all the abortions done in Michigan are done at her two mills, of which, Ford road is one of them. The parking lot is fill up daily; but no abortions, as of yet, are done on Sunday. For the most part, we (who participate in the peaceful prayer vigil) are there on Saturdays between 9:30- 10:30am. One hour of time for the whole time they are open, yet, we have had some successes (saves)
One save was a mother that stood up to her daughter and left her at the abortion mill. The daughter changed her mind at the last moment remembering what one of the sidewalk councilors said. Six months later the now grandmother brought the baby for us to see, and thank us for our help with a promise to return and share. Another save was a couple agonizing over what they were about to do. One of our people in the vigil gave them some information with the suggestion to go to McDonalds have a coffee and read it. They came back smiling, shouting, and waving their hands in joy that they will have their baby.
There are other saves, but for the most part we will never know how many lives have been saved. I do know that when the Archbishop Vigneron came to the abortion mill a couple of years ago there were approximately 100 people. We have a few dedicated people that come on a regular basis of which I am one (except for illness). Fact is, in our survey of activities, prayerful vigil at an abortion clinic was not included. I have not seen other participation from the Knights in the community standing up for the Truth in this manner. I believe I am now fighting complacency. I have dropped from my norm of time providing a prayerful vigil presence on other days than Saturday at the abortion mill. Although not alone on some days, I do not have the physical support at the mill (I hope for prayers for the babies) from my fellow brother Knights. This is not judgment, for it took me years to become involved in this fight for life. I am not pointing the finger. This is a call for help. A physical presence at the mill, show our country, our families, and those who would choose the desperate act of abortion what the Our God and the Knights stand for. I hope I can encourage you in this work to change hearts and minds, and be a voice for the voiceless. If you wish to join me please call Richard Mesner Brother Knight at 734-536-6093 or email at [email protected]. Thank you

Knights of Columbus Prayer for Vocations Pray every day for Vocations. Cut out this prayer and tape it on your bathroom mirror. Pray it while you are shaving or
brushing your teeth. A PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS
Heavenly Father, bless Your Church with an abundance of holy and zealous priests, deacons, brothers and
sisters. Give those You have called to the married state and those You have chosen to live as single persons in the world the special graces that their lives require.
Form us all in the likeness of Your Son so that in Him, with Him and through Him we may love You more deeply and serve You more faithfully, always and everywhere. With Mary we ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
