As a member of the board, my focus will be to make certain resources are directed to the students in the classroom and that our educational facilities are supportive of a learning environ-ment. Further, I want to assure the professional educators and staffs are provided the appropriate environment where they can continue to flourish. While I recognize Worcester County Schools achieve high performance levels and should celebrate their successes, we must continue to find those areas needing improvement. Aiding my assessment will be my educational background of having a Masters in Technology Management and my thirty plus years in business management including both larger corporate and small business. With this background, I hope to support ongoing ad-vancements in the use of digital equipment and student access to the advanced tools needed to prepare them to compete for jobs and careers in tomorrow’s economy.
What is my personal focus?
I have always believed in contributing my time to the com-munity. Helping students achieve a quality education is some-thing I very much look forward to undertaking. In my professional career, I developed relationships between hundreds of business-es and schools in the form of one on one partnerships. In these alliances, the participants are equal professional partners shar-ing their knowledge and experience focused on supporting the teachers, students and parents. It is my hope to bring to the Board of Education my years of business experience in crafting and managing multi-million dol-lar budgets, serving in leadership roles directing professionals, and overseeing a wide range of departments and functions.
Three Important Questions:Why I decided to run: You do not need to have children in school to know the im-portance of a high quality educational system. Education is a cor-nerstone for individuals and communities having a high quality of life. Citizen and community interest in and attention to education is critical to the system having access to the tools and resources it needs. Further, I maintain the conviction that an educational sys-tem deserves diversity of direction and input from those outsidedeserves diversity of direction and input from those outside diversity of direction and input from those outside its professional educational circles, to assure its linkages to the community and resources to support students and parents.
I want to listen to, and work with, a broad range of people to assure their investment in education is used properly. While many people no longer have an immediate connection to an educational system because their children are no longer in the classroom, they still understand the need to provide support for educational efforts. What I want to accomplish:I will focus on: • istening to arents, Teachers, Students, Citizens, andistening to arents, Teachers, Students, Citizens, and Employers • Assuring Students Achieve College and Career eadinessAssuring Students Achieve College and Career eadiness • verseeing Budget, Staff and Salary step allocationsverseeing Budget, Staff and Salary step allocations • ptimizing the use of the Technical High Schoolptimizing the use of the Technical High School
Directly or Indirectly, all are impacted by the successes and challenges of our school system.
