Youth Ministry
Sunday School – Sunday Mornings (9:45 a.m.) Senior High Room 125 & Junior High Room 121 Pumpkin Patch - We are down to the last two weeks of the patch. Friday nights and Saturdays are busy times so let’s make sure that we are involved during those times. Please click here for times that that are needed on Fridays and Saturdays. UMYF – (Sunday Nights from 5:30 – 7:30) No UMYF this week CORE – (Wednesday Nights from 7:00 – 8:00) We are reading through The Zombie Apocalypse Survival Guide for Teenagers Volunteer Meeting Oct. 30th: 12:15 – 1:00 p.m. Those currently volunteering with youth or those interested in volunteering with youth are invited to participate in a meeting to discuss the investment goals of youth ministry and what it might look like at SJA over the next four to six months. We will meet in the sanctuary following the 11:00 a.m. service. Halloween Party Mark you calendars. Oct. 30th: 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. We will have food, games and an offsite activity. The cost is $15 for the activity and is open to the first 20 students. I will start collecting money this week. Please try to pay in advance for this event. Parents, I need help setting up and transporting students. Please email me if you can help out.

Merry Mixers - Last One for 2016! Merry Mixers is open to all adults that meet for a potluck dinner, games and fellowship. Join the fun on Oct. 25, at 6:30 pm, in room 127. Please bring a potluck item to share. We would like to have enough for everyone. For questions, call Diane Grossman at 817-784-0005.
Saturday Sisters meet Saturday, Nov. 5th 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. We will be making “no sew blankets” for donation to those in need. You can purchase 2 pieces of fleece material at 1 1/2 yards, or just bring scissors and help cut and tie the blankets together. All ladies of the church are invited to enjoy the fellowship in room 127.

Children’s Christmas Eve Musical Rehearsal The next Christmas play practice is Sunday Nov. 6th, from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. Pizza will be provided. Children will meet in the backroom at 12:30. This is for children K-6. All children that have a speaking part, it is a must that you come to practice!
Wacky Wednesday - TODAY! 6:00 to 7:30 For ages 4 years old through 6th grade. Dinner will be provided.

Occasion Worship in the Pumpkin Patch Mark your calendar! Our next Occasion Worship Service will be Wednesday evening, October 26th at 7:15 p.m. in the pumpkin patch, bring a chair. But first, join us at 6:30 p.m. on the patio to eat. Please bring a main course, side dish or dessert to share. This is a celebration of all that Kelli Krueger and Amanda Drake has done for the youth and SJA. We will also be welcoming Theresa Wright and Josh Warthen this evening. Childcare will be provided and Wacky Wednesday will be meeting.

Consecration Sunday is Coming Congregations that approach financial stewardship from a biblical perspective do not view the money Christians give to their church merely as a way to pay its bills. Rather, such congregations see financial contributions as a way to help people grow spiritually in their relationship with God by supporting their church’s mission and ministry with a percentage of their incomes. Our congregation’s finance committee has selected the New Consecration Sunday Stewardship Program as a way to teach the biblical and spiritual principles of generous giving in our stewardship education emphasis this year. New Consecration Sunday is based on the biblical philosophy of the need of the giver to give for his or her own spiritual development, rather than on the need of the church to receive. Instead of treating people like members of a social club who should pay dues, we will treat people like follower of Jesus Christ who want to give unselfishly as an act of discipleship. New Consecration Sunday encourages people toward proportionate and systematic giving in response to the question “What percentage of my income is God calling me to give?” During morning worship on Consecration Sunday, we are asking our attendees and members to make their financial commitments to our church’s missionary, benevolent, and education ministries in the community and around the world. Every attendee and member who completes an Estimate of Giving Card does so voluntarily by attending morning worship on Consecration Sunday. We urge people to attend who feel strongly opposed to completing a card. The procedure is done in such a way that no one feels personal embarrassment if he or she chooses not to fill out a card. We will do no home solicitation to ask people to complete cards. During morning worship our guest leader will conduct a brief period of instruction and inspiration, climaxed by members making their commitments as a confidential act of worship. We will encourage participation in Consecration Sunday event thought the Consecration Sunday team and governing board members. Since we will make no follow-up visit to ask people to complete their cards, we will make every effort to inform, inspire, and commit everyone to attend Consecration Sunday worship. Donations for Trunk or Treat Candy Donations must be turned in by this Sunday. Extra candy means we don’t run out of the sweet stuff for our “Trunk or Treaters.”
Greeting to all! I look forward to seeing your faces Sunday in worship. As we prepare for Sunday I want to invite you to spend a few moments thinking about the idea of 'persistence'. How does persistence play into our faith journey? Are there negative examples of persistence? If so, then how can persistence be framed in a positive light?
I have such a wonderful time away and am charged and ready for ministry as we move into the home stretch of 2016. See you on the 23rd!
