FAMILY SUPPORT

Touching on some of the more sensitive issues that face military families, Soldiers’ Angels Family Support Program ensures that the families have a shoulder to lean on. Angels that volunteer with this program support caregivers of the wounded, provide virtual baby showers for new moms, and comfort the loved ones of a fallen service member.

DEPLOYED SUPPORT

Soldiers’ Angels Deployed Support Program volunteers support service members deployed to combat zones around the world. Working virtually, volunteers send care packages, cards, letters, and even homemade baked goods. For many service members, the support provided by Soldiers’ Angels volunteers is the only support they receive from home during their deployment.

WOUNDED SUPPORT

Soldiers’ Angels Wounded Support Program provides support to service members being treated at the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany. In addition, through the Valor IT program, Soldiers’ Angels provides voice-activated laptops to wounded heroes recovering from severe injuries.

“In 2011, I was wounded in Afghanistan. There’s not a lot I remember about my stay in Landstuhl but I do remember the kind words and the great people who went out of their way to make sure I was warm and comfortable and able to talk to my family. I don’t recall any names or faces for that matter, but to everyone at Soldiers’ Angels, thank you. Thank you for being there for guys who don’t know what’s coming next for them in a time where nothing makes sense. I still have the blankets that you guys brought me and they will always be a source of comfort to me and my family. Thank you all again for all you did for me and continue to do for my wounded brothers and sisters.” — Nick

“Knowing that people care for us while deployed makes us have pride in what we do. Soldiers’ Angels is helping us feel loved when needed.” — SPC Bernal

“THANK YOU for all you do. I am a 46-year-old homeless U.S. Army Veteran in Denver, Colorado. I was given one of your box lunches at a walk-in VA services location. It was perfect, much-needed and appreciated. It’s nice to know someone cares.” — Martin

“On August 4th, the life of my sweets, Captain Garrett “Tubes” Lawton was cut tragically short by an IED while deployed in Afghanistan. I immediately began receiving cards and notes of sympathy and appreciation from people all over the United States. Opening my mailbox and finding it overflowing with cards from hundreds of Soldiers’ Angels lifted my spirits during the most horrific time of my life. I also received a few near the anniversary of his death. I have saved all of these for my two boys so they can know that their daddy’s sacrifice was for a grateful nation.” — Trish

VETERAN SUPPORT

Soldiers’ Angels is one of the few nonprofit agencies with a voting seat on the Veterans Affairs (VA) National Advisory Council and approval to work within VA Hospitals. Angel volunteers work in VA Hospitals across the country to provide support to veterans of all eras. The Soldiers’ Angels Veteran Support Program also supports low-income, homeless, and at-risk veterans and their families by hosting Mobile Food Distributions and supporting Stand Downs.
