at NVRC. See the lunch
menu on page 2. After lunch, we will talk
“Reverse Mortgage” and “HARP.”
Our committee is still updating the Guidelines.

April 4th meeting.

LaVerne Cagle passed away on January 16, 2018, age 88. She is survived by her
sons, Robert Cagle, Jr. and Keith Cagle, Ph.D. Keith gave a presentation on “Is
Sign Language 1,000 Years Old” to HH members in 2013. LaVerne served as the
assistant to American Sign Language Teachers Association (ASLTA) for 12
years. Donations may be made to Joyful Rescues, 1319 Turock Drive, Cuba NY
14727 or ASLTA Treasurer, P.O. Box 64801, Rochester NY 14624 in her
memory.
Neil Cassidy died on January 19, 2018. He is
survived by wife Joan Cassidy. The picture on left
has Neil with Joan’s Knitted Dolls. Neil and Joan
met in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. They came to
U.S. during the 1960s. They moved to Sterling, VA
in 1976, where they raised their two children. Both
were avid lovers of cruising — having cruised all
over the world. Joan served 18 years with NVRC as
Loudoun County Outreach Contractor. She retired
from NVRC in 2016.

for 2018-2019

During the May 2nd luncheon, Happy Hands will have an election of officers (Fine Tuners) for 2018-
2019. The Nominations Committee chair is Nancy Rarus. If you are interested in any of the positions
below, please let Nancy know at [email protected].
Chair will:
Lead meetings
Develop Agenda
Assist with Newsletter
Assist with Social and Activities committee planning
Vice-Chair will:
Substitute for the Chair when needed
Assist with other committee planning whenever needed
Secretary will:
Take minutes
Share summaries with the membership through e-mail and newsletter, upon approval of the Fine
Tuners
Treasurer will:
Maintain detailed records of all cash activities
Collect dues and membership forms
Appoint Membership Director and Raffles Director
Make copies of the membership forms and give to the Membership Director
Dues and the original membership forms will be turned over to a designated NVRC staff member
Treasurer’s Report will be published monthly in the Happy Hands newsletter
Member-At-Large (3-5) will:
Help wherever needed
Volunteers are needed for the following positions:
