Scope IT This term our Stage 2 and Stage 3 students will be having Digital Technology lessons every Thursday taught by the company Scope IT. This is Part 2 of the program taught last year. A big thank you to the P&C who have funded this program for our students to enable them to learn the skills necessary to be successful in this modern age. Kindergarten Orientation Information will be sent out this week to all families who have enrolled their child to start Kindergarten in 2021. This year we will be running our orientation via Seesaw with a multitude of information, videos and interactive activities for our parents and new students to engage with. We are very pleased to know that we will be allowed to have our 2021 Kinder students onto our school grounds this term so they can become familiar with our school and we can get to meet them. How this will work will be outlined to parents in the information sent home. Term 4 Updated Guidelines At the end of last term we received the updated guidelines for Term 4. A full copy of the guidelines are available on the DoE website but the highlights are: Parents and carers and other non-essential visitors are still not allowed on the school site. Kindergarten orientation can go ahead for the students (information re orientation will be sent home this week). Parents will only be permitted onto school ground for 10 minutes to drop off and pick up their children. Year 6 transition to high school can go ahead after 11 th November once Year 12 have left. P&C meetings must be online only, if required. Excursions are allowed to go ahead with restrictions, unfortunately our excursion were cancelled as many venues we were to visit are still closed or unable to accommodate school groups. Schools continue to be safe, and operations are in line with Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC) and NSW Health advice. The activities that are permitted at school will be conducted in a way that is safe and appropriate in the current environment. Those that remain on hold will be reviewed during the term and will recommence when appropriate based on health and other relevant advice. Have a great week! Safety around the school

The pick up and drop off rules will remain the same for this term. The kiss and ride has been going very well each morning and our afternoon pick ups are continuing to operate smoothly. There have been a few concerns around safety if we can just ensure the following behaviours cease occurring: • Please remember, if you are going to get out

of your car to say goodbye to your child in the morning, you cannot use the kiss and ride. Park beyond the skip bins and say goodbye there.

• If you are crossing the road to collect your child in the afternoon, once collected please cross where our staff members are ensuring safe crossing. Too many parents are calling students to run across the road, or crossing themselves way too close to the corner.

• Can I also ask that all drivers also understand that we are trying to teach our students road safety. If we are stopping the students to wait for cars to pass, please go past and not signal for us to cross. We would hate for our students to think that they can expect cars to stop for them whenever they cross the road.

Thank you once again to everyone for making our pick up and drop off arrangements work so smoothly. Water Bottles With Covid-19 restrictions in place, we still can not use the bubblers at school. It is really important for children to bring water bottles to school. The weather is warming up and there are still a number of children not bringing a drink to school. There are water refill stations at school that can be used to refill bottles.

School Photos

Our 2020 School photos will be taken next Wednesday, 21st October. Student envelopes were sent home with students today. Please take time to read the relevant information of the photo payment envelope and remember these helpful points: • Don’t seal envelopes inside

each other. You can pay for all children in one envelope however each child needs to have their own envelope on photo day

• Family envelopes are available at the school office upon request

• Please enclose correct money as no change is given. Cash and money orders only.

• Credit card payments must be made online prior to photo day

School Swim Scheme 2020 Expression of Interest notes were sent home last Term for our School Swim Scheme which will commence on Monday 26th October. Swim Scheme is open to students in Year 2 only. Limited numbers are available. If you would like you child to participate in this year’s swim scheme please complete the permission note sent home today and return it to the office, with payment, to secure a spot. If you returned an Expression of Interest note last term, a permission note has been sent home with your child today. Please complete and return to the office with payment.

Return and Earn

We are excited to announce that our fundraising through two local Return and Earn sites has been extended until February 2021. You may choose to donate to Wyee Public School when you return bottles or cans to the Return and Earn sites at Doyalson Wyee RSL Club or Wyee Community Hall. Alternatively, children can bring their cans and plastic bottles to school and we will organise to have them donated. NO GLASS BOTTLES PLEASE.

Monies raised from this fundraiser will go towards the purchase of a new sandpit with shade cover.
