About the Agency

The selectee for this position serves in the Pathways Recent Graduate Program where you will perform the duties of an intermediate

level Nondestructive Testing Examiner in the Nondestructive Test Division, Operations Branch, Quality Assurance Office, at Puget

Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PSNS & IMF), Bangor or Bremerton, Washington.

Recent Graduates selected for this position will serve in a 1 year developmental program.

Duties

The successful selectee will perform the following duties:

Performing Non-destructive examination of metals, composites, ceramics, and other materials for internal and external

structural defects, corrosion and internal discontinuities.

Performing Non-destructive testing and inspection of a wide variety of structures and components involved with the

modernization, repair, and overhaul of naval vessels.

Using a wide variety of highly sophisticated and complex inspection equipment and techniques in the fields of Visual,

Ultrasonic, Radiography, Eddy Current, Liquid Penetrant and Magnetic Particle Inspections Methods.

Qualifications

destructive Testing (NDT) that includes a minimum of 200 hours of Laboratory Hands on or Work Time Experience

(WTE) OR Complete or will complete within 9 months of the closing date of this announcement the following Non-destructive

Testing (NDT) Level II certifications in accordance with ASNT-TC-1A: Visual Inspection (VT); Magnetic Particle (MT Dry); Liquid

Penetrant (PT groups I and one of the following intermediate level certification Eddy Current (ET weld or acquisitioner);

Radiographic Testing (RT operator) or Ultrasonic Testing (UT thickness).

ELIGIBILITY:

Recent graduates who have completed, within the previous two years, a qualifying associates, bachelors, masters, professional,

doctorate, vocation or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institute.

Selectee must have the physical ability to perform duties in areas reached by walking, ascending or descending ladders, or staging.

Must be able to perform inspections in confined spaces for prolonged periods of time in standing, stooping, or crouching positions,

which would cause physical strains. Must possess visual acuity (Jaeger J1). Work may require lifting and carrying generally not in

excess of 50 pounds.

Selectee may be assigned to work areas where certain potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present. These agents may

include but are not limited to: fumes, dust, noise, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, and chemicals. To ensure the employee's

safety and health, the shipyard maintains personnel protection programs consistent with applicable laws and regulations. These

programs may include engineering controls, training, work procedure, use of personnel protective equipment, and medical

surveillance.

Work is performed in the Code 135 NDT facility, Shipboard, field operations which may require working in inclement weather or in

production shop environments. Assignments may require travel to other activities on short notice, working odd or extended shifts, as

necessary to support production efforts.

- Successfully completed at least 1 year of continuous service in addition to all requirements of the program.

- Meet agency-specific requirements as specified in the Participant's Agreement, and

- Perform their job successfully.

EXPECTED TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT: - Orientation program for Recent Graduates hired for the program.

- Mentorship throughout the program.

- Individual Development Plan to create and track Recent Graduates' career planning, professional development, and training

activities.

- At least 40 hours of formal, interactive training each year of the program.
