Domestic Violence
• Domestic violence means the abusive behavior of a person towards his partner or any family member or any relative and torturing them physically, emotionally or socioeconomically.

What Causes Domestic Violence?
• Domestic violence may start when one partnerfeels the need to control and dominate the other partner.
• Abusers may feel this need to control their partner because of low self-esteem, extreme jealousy, difficulties in regulating anger andother strong emotions or when they feel inferior to the other partner in education and socioeconomic background.

depression, social isolation, unable to study orwork, medical appointments, police reports, fear, nightmares,etc.

• woman and children are the worst sufferers of domestic violence. But man are also not safefrom the effects of domestic violence.

How can we stopdomestic violence?
• Our government of INDIA passedone act PROTECTION OF WOMEN FROM DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ACT 2005__this came into force from 26th october 2006.

• The most important way to stop domestic violence is we have to spread awareness among the people about the bad effects of domestic violence by seminars, awareness programmes etc.

• Another important way to stop domestic violence is we have to create such a society in which we honour ourselves.
• When we honour ourselves it is difficult to dishonour others or to be dishonoured by others
