Important Message High Point West II web site can be found at: www.highpointofdelraywest2.com Log in and request a password. Come join in on the infor-mation available at the site. Take a look at the calendar to find attractions in the area and what is going on in the community. Check out the photo albums of your neighbors at play. Under the drop down menu under "news" you will find the "message board", a place where residents can communicate with the commu-nity, make suggestions and start a conversa-tion with your on-line residents. You can dis-cuss improvements and get a feel for the pros and cons of new ideas. There is also an "e-form" section where you can report a main-tenance problem and send a request to the Board, or join a committee. The minutes from the last Board meeting and the newsletters can also be found on the web site. Nothing beats participation to keep the community run-ning smoothly. Get on the web site, come to the association meetings and take an interest
in where you live! Fred Gutowski
Publishing a community newsletter involves a number of people who volunteer their time to keep us informed. We would not have a newsletter if it were not for them. First and foremost, I want to thank Eve Detterer for doing the design and publication. Joe Galvin has been a big help, too. Thanks to the people who write the arti-cles: Shirley Bellak, Social Club; John Pagano, Property Manager; and Don Galloy, COP. They keep us informed with activities going on at High Point Section II. Thanks to Terri Correnti and Fred Gutowski you can go to the website, read the minutes from the BOD meet-ings, the entire Hi-Lites newsletter and search the calen-dar of events for our community. The pictures that you all enjoy seeing are taken by Ruth Vivenzio, Pat Wright and myself. Then we have the volunteers who distribute the Hi-Lites. The circulation committee consists of: Norma Hol-zschuh, Terri Correnti, Ellen Petronaci, Anna Hartin, Helen Maddox, Barbara Lamrou, Mary Salvucci, Gil Mar-tinez, Georgiann Parks, Belle Rothenberg, Lois Devan, Josephine Leuzzi and Sylvia Russo. To all our volunteers, I want to say thank you for your time and dedication. Cookie Goodman, Editor

Holiday shopping is here and a few tips to
make it safer. When making multiple stops in a
shopping plaza, make certain to put your packages
in your trunk and move your vehicle to another sec-
tion of the parking lot. In this way anyone casing
the parking area will think you are leaving.
Try to do your shopping during daylight
hours. If shopping at night, make certain to park in
a well lighted area and wear light colored clothing.
When driving in High Point West at night,
please take note of any walkers. They may not have
light colored clothes or carry a flash light. Same
goes for bike riders.
The C.O.P. will be on patrol during the
Holidays and we want to wish you all a Happy
Holiday Season.
Our next meeting is December 19th in Club-
house 3 at 10:00 am. Please stop by and hear what
we are all about and join us for coffee and rolls.

Stay Involved Communicating with other homeowners and
the board making the association's decisions is
easiest at community meetings. Many associa-
tions require only one annual meeting for the
purpose of electing the board of directors,
which is open to members. Many, however,
will hold a mix of meetings open to the board,
or the board plus members. In some states,
what members can speak about is limited to
the items on the board's prepared minutes. But
in states such as Florida, new laws allow resi-
dents to discuss whatever they please, although
their time and manner of presenting is moni-
tored [source: Samouce].
Of course the benefit of attending meetings
is not just to be heard, but also to hear what is
going on. If a Condominium Association is
considering raising its dues next year, you'll
want to find out as soon as possible. Similarly,
you'll want to learn of any proposed bylaws or
other changes in how the community will op-
erate. And if your bylaws allow you to speak at
the meeting, voicing your opinion could add a
new perspective to a proposed policy that the
board might not have considered.
But by far the most important meeting to at-
tend is the annual meeting of the Condomin-
ium Association to elect its next board of di-
rectors. If your Condominium Association
board is showing any signs of abuse or neglect
to the homeowners it represents, it might be
time for you to vote for a new board.
If you do not attend the meetings, you will
not have a voice in making decisions where
the condo money is spent. But you still have
to pay your condo maintenance.

Here’s To Your Health A Simple Pineapple - MUST Read
The pineapple is a member of the bromeliad
family. It is extremely rare that bromeliads produce
edible fruit. The pineapple is the only available edi-
ble bromeliad today.
Pineapples stop ripening the minute they are
picked. No special way of storing them will help
ripen them further. Color is relatively unimportant
in determining ripeness. Choose your pineapple by
smell. If it smells fresh, tropical and sweet, it will
be a good fruit. The more scales on the pineapple,
the sweeter and juicier the taste. After you cut off
the top, you can plant it. It should grow much like a
sweet potato will.
This delicious fruit is not only sweet and
tropical; it also offers many benefits to our health.
Pineapple is a remarkable fruit.
We find it enjoyable because of its lush,
sweet and exotic flavor, but it may also be one of
the most healthful foods available today. If we take
a more detailed look at it, we will find that pineap-
ple is valuable for easing indigestion, arthritis or
sinusitis.
Pineapple is high in manganese, a mineral
that is critical to development of strong bones and
connective tissue. A cup of fresh pineapple will
give you nearly 75% of the recommended daily
amount.
It is particularly helpful to older adults,
whose bones tend to become brittle with age. Bro-
melain, a proteolytic enzyme, is the key to pineap-
ple's value. Proteolytic means "breaks down pro-
tein", which is why pineapple is known to be a di-
gestive aid. It helps the body digest proteins more
efficiently. Bromelain is also considered an effec-
tive anti-inflammatory.
Regular ingestion of at least one half cup of
fresh pineapple daily is purported to relieve painful
joints common to osteoarthritis. It also produces
mild pain relief.
Orange juice is high in Vitamin C. Fresh
pineapple is not only high in this vitamin, but be-
cause of the Bromelain, it has the ability to reduce
mucous in the throat.
Fresh pineapple juice for morning sickness?
It really works! Fresh juice and some nuts first
thing in the morning often make a difference.
It's also good for a healthier mouth. The
fresh juice discourages plaque growth.
