1. INCOMING TRAFFIC
1.1. GENERAL NOTES
Plan ahead – look over the charts and be ready for holds, vectors and speed changes. Remember: Aviate, Navigate, Communicate
1.2. DESCENT PLANNING
Plan your descent to be at or below 12000 ft at the STAR entry points: BAYAN, GINTO or AFNAN
In addiction of minimum IFR fuel, load an extra fuel of 1 hour (most probably expect to make some holds over BAYAN, GINTO or AFNAN).
1.3. WHICH RUNWAY?
There are two possible configurations for OTHH - Either 34L/R or 16L/R. Most times we have wind from North west directions. Both runways L/R are used for arriving and departing traffic. The 34L/R configuration can be expected when max tailwind component is up to 5kts.
1.4. ENTRY INTO AIRSPACE
If you are coming from uncontrolled airspace please contact Centre/Control at least of 20 nautical miles before to entry in the airspace. Don’t wait for a force act from them. Depending on which ATC service is active – your first contact will likely be with (in descending order):
POSITION FREQ CALLSIGN
OGCC_E_CTR 132.125 Arabian Control
OBBB_CTR 127.525 Bahrain Central
OTHH_R_APP 121.100 Doha Radar

1.5. ARRIVAL AND STARS
Normally expect to receive a Standard Arrival from Centre controller. Check these constraints in your FMC (It’s really important). Note that the star you are assigned will also define which runway you are landing on. RUNWAYS 34L/R:

2. OUTBOUND TRAFFIC
2.1. GENERAL NOTES
Check accurately your Estimated Time of Departure (ETD) and Estimated Off Block Time (EOBT). Keep in mind that it takes about 10-15 minutes to perform startup, pushback and taxi. So if you have an ETD at 10:15, you must start with push back and start operations at 10:00-10:05 approximately.
2.3. PUSHBACK OPERATIONS.
During the request phase of pushback take care, in according to ground instructions, where you must rotate the aircraft. Here an example of ground instruction: “Etihad xxx pushback and start-up approved, face to south-east”. This is very important to avoid conflict during ground operations.
2.4. TAXIWAY OPERATIONS
All ground operations are made to avoid conflicts among traffic, especially between inbound and outbound, so please follow ground and tower instructions.
