Etiquette and Rules Information Carstairs Trail The Carstairs Trail was constructed to minimize obstacles to accessibility. The trail was designed to meet or exceed accessibility standards. The trail’s 4 loops branch off a common trail. The Carstairs Tract was once farmed then planted as an arboretum in 1948 and then re-planted with Red Pine, White Pine, White Spruce and European Larch in 1950. Rare trees, native to Ontario were planted in 2015 in honour of the Carstairs Family. Distances of loops: White Spruce Loop: 0.8km Larch Loop: 1.3km Locust Loop: 1.7km White Pine Loop: 2.2km Dogs Dogs must be leashed and under control at all times. There is a potential for service dogs on these trails and an unleashed dog could cause a dangerous situation. Please do not leave animal waste on trails or other public areas. Remember, not all forest users are dog lovers. Please respect others. Permitted Uses The Carstairs Tract trails are for pedestrians only, including pedestrians using assistive devices such as wheelchairs, and electric scooters. The use of ATVs, Off-road motorcycles, mountain bikes and horses will damage the trail and cause unsafe conditions for users with mobility aids or difficulty passing over obstacles. Seasonal Closures The Carstairs Tract trails may be closed when conditions affect the safe use of trails. These include snow covered and icy conditions. Please don’t litter. Carry out your garbage and place in the garbage and recycling container at the trailhead. www.northumberlandcounty.ca/forest [email protected] 905-372-3329 ext. 2303
