Rumble and Tumble (18 Months - 3 Years) This class develops motor skills and movement awareness through stretching, tumbling, wiggling through our obstacle course, ball play and songs in a structured but exciting gym environment. Requires active parental or caregiver support.

Rumble and Tumble Jr. (6 - 17 Months) A simpler version of its older sibling, this class offers younger children a safe space to walk, tumble, climb, jump, explore movement and song. Requires active parental or caregiver support.

Toddler Time (6 Months - 4 Years) This is an open play time where you and your child can enjoy the Rumble & Tumble obstacle course, play with others and build strong bodies. Free for members; $5.00 per child for community members.

World of Wonders (16 Months - 4 Years) Engages children in stories and books as well as activities that develop creativity, explore identities and solidify learning concepts. Children participate in guided projects and explore different art mediums.

Kindersports Jr. (18 Months - 4 Years) An opportunity for your child to explore the world of sports and early fitness through fun exercises, games, songs and stretching. Our young athletes develop hand-eye and foot-eye coordination, and gross motor skills like running and jumping through a series of activities. Classes require active parental or caregiver support.

KidSpace (6 Months - 7 Years) Kidspace is available for you and your family to use between 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm in the Child Watch room. Enjoy this safe and child friendly environment! Parents or guardians must stay with children at all times. Free for members.

Youth Karate (5 - 7 Years) Participants will develop balance, coordination, self confidence and discipline through this martial art form. Classes focus on the development of the youth’s positive attitude, behavior and character through building self-esteem and self-discipline while instilling respect for themselves and others.

Ballet (3 - 6 Years) This course is an introduction to classical ballet, a form of dance that combines exercises that focus on muscular strength, agility and concentration. The general benefits of ballet for boys and girls of all ages include, but are not limited to, improved posture, flexibility, balance, motor skills, rhythm, and cardiovascular health and the use of muscles of the entire body. Ballet is also a foundation for other types of dance such as hip hop, jazz, ballroom or modern dance.

Mommy & Me Cooking (18 Months - 5 Years) Proper nutrition is essential for the healthy growth and development of all people, especially our youth. While most eating habits begin at home, The Y is here to teach healthy eating habits through its healthy cooking programs. In this delicious class, future chefs will learn the correct way to peel, chop, mash, and more. They will then get to taste the results of their efforts. Finally, they will create a cookbook so they can share their creations with their families at home. YUM!

Music & Movement (12 Months - 3 Years) A great way to teach self-expression through dance. This class supports your child’s growing awareness of his/her body’s capacity to move in dynamic ways. Structured activities and exercises provide the foundation for developing a movement vocabulary and non-verbal expression of feeling and thought. Creative movement builds self-esteem and is a wonderful first adventure into locomotion.

NEW* Learn, Build Play (2 - 4 Years) Reinforce essential preschool skills with the use of Lego’s. Children will learn about ABC’s, 123’s and other everyday essentials.

NEW* Little Tumblers (18 Months - 3 Years) Develop strength, and flexibility through a variety of gymnastic moves.

NEW* Dancing Feet (24 Months - 4 Years) Tiny tots will move their feet to a musical beat. Develop strength and focus while learning new moves.

NEW* Play Group (12 Months - 5 Years) Children will participate in supervised social and creative play. Plus storytelling, art projects and more!

The Y is the place for families. From hosting a birthday party to taking a class with your little one, the Y offers programs to help families grow closer. The Dodge Y family events are a great way for families to learn, play and grow together. Activities include: arts & crafts, recreation, open gym, movie night and so much more.

Soccer Spikes (3 - 6 Years) An energetic program that emphasizes teamwork and positivity through exercises designed to familiarize young players to the game of soccer with age appropriate teaching tools and drills.

Basketball (3 - 12 Years) Kids will learn the game of basketball through age-appropriate drills, exercises, and controlled games while developing teamwork and sportsmanship.

Tennis (3 - 10 Years) Kids learn or review basic skills such as forehand, backhand, volleys, serves, as well as court awareness, etiquette and rules. All skills and techniques are taught in the form of games and physical activities.

Ballet (7 - 10 Years) Kids at this age group are introduced to a more formal structured ballet class. Curriculum is carefully designed to their age and cognitive abilities. This age group will focus on foundational exercises, floor ballet stretches, intro to turns and jumps.

Shotokan Karate (8 - 12 Years) Learn fundamentals including blocks, stances, rules and regulations for class. Beginner and intermediate students will learn forms 1 to 3 in the Shotokan system as well as punching and kicking techniques for self-defense.

Kindersports (3 - 8 Years) Introduce your child to the world of sports and early fitness. Skills are broken down and modified into fun games for our young athletes. Children work on hand-eye and foot-eye coordination and directional skills, and build competence in basic sports skills.

Baseball (6 - 8 Years) Throwing, catching and hitting while building hand and eye coordination.

PRIVATE SPORT LESSONS ONE-ON-ONE (3 - 12 Years) Participants are coached according to their age and skill level. Classes are one hour in length. Sports offered: Basketball, Soccer, Tennis and T-Ball. Jr. Knicks (7 - 18 Years) The YMCA of Greater New York Jr. Knicks program is for boys and girls ages 7-18 years old. In addition to learning the fundamentals of Basketball through practices and game play, children will learn valuable life skills including sportsmanship and self-confidence. Weekends starting mid January - mid March.

COMPASS - NYC After School Programs (Grades K - 5)

Y Afterschool is geared towards enriching kids’ academic development, engaging them in healthy physical activity and fostering positive social interactions. Each program offers high-quality instruction and supervision by trained and qualified staff. Y Afterschool takes place every full school day from school dismissal through 6:00 pm.

JUMP INCOOL OFFYOUTH AQUATICS PROGRAMSYMCA swim instruction is delivered in a student-centered and caring atmosphere, with well trained professionals giving personalized attention. All programs are subject to change or be cancelled based on enrollment. No make-up policy. PLEASE SEE THE AQUATICS SCHEDULE FOR CLASS TIMES. All classes run on an eight (8) week session.

Parent & Child (6 Months - 3 Years) The primary objective is to get both the parent and child comfortable in the water. The child will become aware of the differences between moving through water and on dry land, while the parent will become aware of how to teach their child to be safer in the water. This program has four levels, all determined by age.

Shrimp (6 - 8 Months) This is a fun and low key introduction to the aquatic environment for parents and infants. Learn basic aquatic safety and have a positive experience with their children that can help them grow closer.

Kipper (9 - 12 Months) This level continues to provide positive experiences for parents and infants. Continue to learn water skills and infants enjoy playing with toys and flotation devices. Parents review and learn basic aquatic safety.

Inia (13 - 18 Months) Children do more independent exploration of the aquatic environment with help from parents. Provides opportunities for parent-child time to socialize with one another.

Perch (19 - 36 Months) Children start moving more independently through the water under supervision. Both parent and child learn aquatic safety. Instructor prepares child to work with an instructor independently.

Pre-School (All classes are 3 - 5 Years) This is a child’s first experience in the pool without parental assistance. Children are taught basic skills that are the building blocks of swimming. They also learn pool and boating safety, and the use of personal flotation devices.

Pike & Parent Children begin attending class with their parents. Helps both parent and child develop safe pool behavior and adjust to the water. Perfect for children who are willing to enter the water, but are not ready to develop independent movement in the water yet.

Pike Children begin attending classes without parents. Helps children develop safe pool behavior, adjust to the water and develop independent movement in the water.

Eel Reinforces advanced beginner skills. For children that are comfortable in the water. Learn how to flutter kick, float and perform the progressive paddle stroke. Children can swim across the pool unassisted by the end of this level.

Ray Children review skills, improve stroke skills, build endurance by swimming on their front and back, and how to tread water. Children can swim unassisted on their front and back across the pool by the end of this level.

Starfish Review skills, refine crawl and back strokes and floating skills, and begin to learn underwater swimming skills.

Progressive Swim (All classes are 6 - 11 Years)

Progressive Swim Lesson Fees

Polliwog Gets children acquainted with the pool and front and back floating. By the end of this level they will know the front paddle stroke, side and back paddle.

Guppy Continue to practice and build upon basic skills, with the addition of more skills without the aid of a flotation device. Introduced to leadup strokes to the front and back crawl, sidestroke, breast and back stroke. Prerequisite: Swim 25 yards front crawl with rotary breathing, flutter kick and good arm stroke. Swim back crawl 25 yards with a good flutter kick & arm stroke.

Minnow Initial intermediate skill. Further refine the lead-up strokes as skills become more like those normally used in swimming. Prerequisite: Swim 50 yards front and back crawl; 25 yards of elementary backstroke, side and breast stroke.

Fish At this point, students work to perform the crawl stroke, elementary backstroke, back crawl stroke and sidestroke with turns. They are also introduced to the butterfly stroke. Prerequisite: Swim 100 yards front and back crawl with well developed strokes; 25 yards of breaststroke and 50 yards of elementary backstroke. Knowledge of diving and open turns.

Flying Fish An advanced level, students work on refining their strokes and increasing their endurance.

Shark The students at this level continue to improve their strokes with starts and turns, and are introduced to the inverted breaststroke, the crawl and the overarm sidestroke.

YMCA Porpoise Club (Ages 6 -11 Years) Creative innovative solutions that empower and enrich all youth members of the swimming community. Continue development of proper stroke mechanics and emphasize more advanced stroke techniques for all four strokes with an introduction to competition. Meets 2x a week.

Private and Semi-Private Swim Lessons (Ages 3+ Years) This is for the individual who needs one on one attention. Fitness OrientationNew to the Y? We offer a complimentary fitness orientation with one of our staff for all new members as an introduction to our cardiovascular and strength training equipment. Teen Fitness OrientationTo start your Teen’s fitness experience off on the right foot we require a Teen Fitness Orientation. This orientation is catered to Teens and will teach them how to properly use equipment and workout in a safe manner! We encourage the family to work out together but when unaccompanied by an adult the fitness center is available to ages 12-17 years old until 8:00 pm. Just complete the form at the Membership Desk, and you will be contacted by a fitness representative or email [email protected] to schedule an orientation.

Family Fitness At the Y we encourage the whole family to engage in a healthy lifestyle. Your family can be involved from the very beginning, starting with prenatal, parent child and family yoga. Families with children 12 years of age and older are encouraged to work out together on the fitness floor and also participate in any of our wide arrangement of fitness class offerings individually or with their guardian. Coming soon the Y will offer specific fitness classes geared toward getting youth excited about staying active! Personal Training Session Cancellations & PolicesA client may cancel directly with the trainer without penalty by giving 24 hours notice. If notice is not given within a 24 hour period, the client will be charged for the session. All sessions are valid for 6 months from date of purchase unless otherwise indicated. Only YMCA training staff are permitted to conduct personal training sessions within the facility. Sessions are non-transferable and non-refundable, and must be used at the Dodge YMCA.

Program Design A certified Personal Trainer will evaluate participant’s health history and lifestyle to design a fitness routine that will assist participants in achieving their health goals. The Program Design will include one 30 minute assessment with a Body Composition Analysis and one separate 45 minute training session to teach the participant the fitness routine. Great for individuals who travel for work and are looking for an alternative to their everyday fitness routine.

*AOA | ACTIVE OLDER ADULTS

*AOA Strength and Conditioning - Active Older Adults challenge your strength during this hour long class that incorporates movement, chair exercises, weights and balls. A great way to build strength and flexibility while having fun with friends!

*Aqua Aerobics - Combines aerobics, strength and endurance training while minimizing joint stress. Because of the cushioning effect of water, older adults may find water to be the most desirable environment for exercise.

*Chair Exercise - This total body workout incorporates cardio training, muscular strength and endurance plus flexibility either seated or standing.

*MasterfitnessComplete® - Get everything you need in this class! Combines low impact aerobics, conditioning and stretching in a comfortable environment.

*Senior Fitness - Cardiovascular conditioning, body-weight strength training and flexibility designed for beginners and the older population. The focus of this class is range of motion and functional movements without the use of weights. Have fun doing floor work to your favorite show tunes!

*Zumba Gold - A fun, easy-to-follow dance fitness program for active older adults. Groove to the beats like Merengue, Salsa, Cha Cha, Belly Dance, Cumbia, and others to create a motivating, inspiring workout!

CARDIO

Cardio Kickboxing - This high energy class combines muscle conditioning with kickboxing combinations of punches and kicks in a variety of drills, exercises, and self-defense techniques.

Spinning® - A great cardio workout of simulated road bike riding to energizing music, appropriate for all fitness levels.

Step Aerobics - A great cardio workout for all fitness levels. Using an aerobic step with or without risers, class members step up and down to the music giving a complete upper and lower body workout.

CARDIO | STRENGTH

BODYPUMP™ - The original LES MILLS™ barbell class will sculpt, tone and strengthen your entire body. This 60-minute workout challenges all your major muscle groups by using the best weight room exercises like squats, presses, lifts and curls. Great music, awesome certified ‘BODYPUMP’ instructors and your choice of weight inspire you to get the results you came for—and fast! Like all the LES MILLS™ programs, a new BODYPUMP™ class is released every three months with new music and choreography.

Chair Yoga - This gentle yoga class incorporates use of a chair to support movement and stretching. Enjoy flowing sequences, breathing exercises, yoga postures and relaxation.

CXWORX™ - 30 minute workouts designed to really hone in on the torso and sling muscles that connect your upper body to your lower body. It’s ideal for tightening your tummy and butt, while also improving functional strength and assisting in injury prevention. Like all the LES MILLS™ programs, a new CXWORX™ class is released every three months with new music and choreography.

Kettlebells - This is a total body workout that blends effective techniques for improving muscular endurance, total body movements and cardiovascular conditioning. Each movement and progression is taught with an emphasis on safety, while highlighting essential body alignment.

Total Body Conditioning – A full body workout designed to strengthen and tone the upper and lower body using hand held weights.

Trampoline Fitness – Jumping only a few inches off the surface of a trampoline, this class gives you a challenging workout without the jarring impact often associated with other types of aerobic exercise.

DANCE

*5Rhythms® – A freeform dance practice using 5 qualities of movement: flowing, staccato, chaos, lyrical and stillness. No dance experience necessary.

Ballet Bar – Ballet based fitness class that elongates and sculpts your body through the combination of ballet based movements and the Pilates work of flexibility, core strength and toning.

Belly Dancing – Dance movements that focus on the core muscles, emphasizing muscular isolations. Dance to Middle Eastern rhythms while learning traditional movements and combinations.

Hip Hop Aerobics – Utilizing the latest hip-hopmoves, this class will get you into a firm and buff body through its urban dance theme.

Zumba® – Zumba is a fusion of Latin and International music, utilizing dance themes that create a dynamic, exciting, effective fitness program. The routines feature aerobic interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body.

FLEXIBILITY | BALANCE | CORE

Core Training - Focuses on abdominal, back and core muscle training and stabilization to improve the body’s overall functional strength.

Led Ashtanga Yoga - This is a dynamic, structured and intelligent approach to yoga that will purify and align the body, steady the nervous system and give equilibrium to the mind.

Pilates - Focus on the core postural muscles that help keep the body balanced and are essential to providing support for the spine. This class benefits everyone at every fitness level.

Stretching - An essential component of fitness that is often neglected or left out in preference for developing other areas of fitness. Use a variety of stretching methods to gradually increase muscle strength and extend the range of movement at the joints. This may help prevent injury and improve performance of health and sports related activities.

*Tai Chi – An ancient form of mind body exercise that uses purposeful, slow movements in a form of meditative exercise for relaxation, health and self defense.

MIND | BODY

Gentle Yoga - Learn the art of breathing. Incorporates breathing exercises, yoga postures and relaxation.

Hatha Yoga - Breathing techniques and postures are combined in a way that is designed to increase skills and comfort with yoga practice.

*M.E.L.T Method® - A self-treatment technique that helps prevent pain, heal injury, and erase the negative effects of aging and active living.

Vinyasa Yoga - Flowing sequences of yoga poses linked together by an emphasis on breathing technique.

FAMILY | YOUTH | TEEN

Baby Yoga | Toddler Yoga - This parent child yoga class is a great way to incorporate mind & body exercise right from the beginning of your child’s life. Parents practice yoga postures and breathing exercises with their children while socializing with other participants.

Family Yoga - Relax after a hectic day of work and school as a family. Families enjoy flowing sequences of yoga poses while promoting healthy living in one another’s lives. A great way to get your kids focused and learn postures as well as relaxation.

Pre-Natal Yoga - Exercise while expecting with our Pre-Natal certified yoga Instructor. Learn relaxation and stretching techniques to assist you throughout your pregnancy. Be sure to consult with your Physician before beginning any new exercise program during pregnancy.

Teen Spin - A great way for teens to get a cardio kick! A certified group fitness Instructor works with teens on their form to get the most out of their workout. Cool music and an awesome ride!

Teen Hip Hop - Teens express themselves through dance and movement with a trained dance Instructor. A fun way to get in cardio, build confidence and have fun with a group of peers.

TEEN PROGRAMS12-17 YEARSMore teen information, plus monthly event calenders are available behind the Membership Desk or on our website at ymcanyc.org/dodge/pages/teen-programs.

The Dodge YMCA provides young people with a safe space to socialize, seek support and participate in activities that build self-esteem, prepare them for higher education and to succeed as an adult. Our goal is to empower, inspire and teach young people to be leaders through our various programs and workshops.

All teen programs are FREE and open to the community. Please see a copy of the Teen Program Schedule for times and locations. Interested individuals should stop by the Membership Desk and pick up an application.

Leaders Club Participants will be exploring issues such as Self-Image, Community Service, Violence Prevention, Racism/Sexism/Ageism, as well as College and Career Prep. This program provides young people with the opportunity to have a voice and feel empowered in the community and in their lives. Leaders Club focuses on skill building, character development, goal setting, service learning and networking.

Leaders Club is a fun, safe, and creative place. Participants will also receive opportunities for academic assistance, scholarships, internships, college mentorships and job training. Midyear, the Leaders Club will visit a YMCA camp for a weekend rally with participants from NY and around the Northeast.

Teen Homework Help As a part of our 2014 – 2015 Teen Initiative, the Y is introducing Weekly Wednesday Homework Help. Each week students can sign up for an hour of HW help from qualified YMCA Staff and Teachers. WEDNESDAYS 4:30 - 5:30 pm

SAT PrepOn the last Wednesday of each month, students can sign up for an hour of SAT Prep from qualified YMCA Staff and Teachers. WEDNESDAYS 4:30 - 5:30 pm **PREP TAKES PLACE ON THE LAST WEDNESDAY of each month.

SAT Study Drop in program where students receive practice materials to help strengthen their test taking skills.

Teen CenterOn Saturday nights during the months of September to June, from 7:00 pm -10:00 pm the Dodge Y opens its facility to teens only. We have structured cooking classes, open basketball, dance/hip hop class, ping pong, art and teen training sessions. Come join us for an evening of recreation and fun! Doors close at 7:30 pm sharp. Teens Take the CityRoll up your sleeves and get involved in issues that affect yourselves and your community. Learn about civic involvement by learning about the NYC government, meet NYC officials, develop policy proposals and present them at legislative hearings. Be the voice in your community and work towards making a positive difference.

Teen ExtremeA physically active fitness and training program where the teens learn more about their body and ways to make healthier choices. The teens meet twice a week and follow the training program that the sports coordinator has constructed for them.
