This year, three of our members are being recognized with College level awards from Industrial Engineering and Operations Management. Jenni Kimpel: Early Career Alumni Award Receiving the INEG Early Career Alumni Award for 2018 is Jenni Kimpel. Ms. Kimpel is an alumna of the University of Arkansas where she earned a B.S. in Industrial Engineering in 2006. While working full time, she also obtained a Masters of Business Administration with an emphasis in Leadership and Ethics from John Brown University in 2013. Prior to graduation, Ms. Kimpel gained valuable experience working as an intern for Walmart, Inc. Following graduation with her BSIE, she accepted a position with J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. as a Logistics Engineer. She excelled in her work and was elevated rapidly, moving from her entry level position to Senior Engineer and then to General Manager, Market Research Center. In that position she worked as a project manager and had oversight for managing and developing sales pipeline reports, sales analytics, and sales forecasts. Subsequently, she was appointed as Director of Final Mile Engineering which is responsible for managing costs and improving processes, cultivating and retaining customers, and optimizing all aspects of ϐleet operations. She presently holds the title of Director of Engineering and Technology. In this role as an executive team leader, she is responsible for strategic vision which will help position J.B. Hunt as a technology company. In addition to her impressive career advancement, Ms. Kimpel is a community servant. She is actively engaged in the department’s Mentor Circles program and participates in Mock Interviews which helps our students be better prepared when entering the workforce. She is a board Member and the Secretary of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. She has worked with this organization for the past four years and received the Hero of Hope Award in 2017. Ms. Kimpel also works with the J.B. Hunt organization called Growing and Retaining Outstanding Women (GROW) which promotes STEM careers to local high schools. She is also involved with many charitable groups including Sharing & Caring of Benton County, and the Northwest Arkansas Children’s Shelter. Did You Know... The Origin of the DODEC?

The first AAIE Newsletter was published in the fall of 1997 with Jim Hawkins as the first editor. At that time, the Stellated Dodecahedron was selected as the emblem of the newsletter. Discovered around 1600 by Johannes Kepler, the mathematically complex structure was chosen to represent the positive effect engineers have had on our society by the proper application of difficult scientific principles to the problems of mankind. We carry on that tradition both in our newsletter and in the work of AAIE!
