Peripheral Nervous SystemSensory- dorsal root, afferent to spinal cordMotor- ventral root, efferent from spinal cord

Somatic- single nerve to skeletal muscle, neuron cell body in spinal cord, ventral hornAutonomic – two neurons to target cell (gland, smooth muscle)

Parasympathetic – Cholinergic (Ach)Sympathetic – Adrenergic (EPI, NorEPI)

Peripheral Nerve – bundle of several nerve fascicles surrounded by epineurium Nerve fiber – axon +/- myelin and Schwan cells; wavy fibers are oriented in longitudinal section!Ganglion – contains nerve fibers + clusters of nerve cell bodies (soma) + satellite cells; same wrapping as

Epineurium – dense irregular CT around several nerve fascicle = peripheral nervePerineurium – one or more layers of squamous epithelium with basal lamina on both sides, wraps each

nerve fascicle Endoneurium – dense irregular CT between nerve fibers (axons)

Unmyelinated & Myelinated fibers (long) Myelinated fiber (c.s.) & Schmitt-Landermann’s cleft
