A Troubleshooting

This section describes how to deal when OCR Slave or Remote Connector is not responding while maintaining the DocuShare® Connect server through the DocuShare® Connect Admin interface.

A.1 OCR Slave or Remote Connector not Responding

For instances where an OCR slave or a remote connector service does not seem to respond, when all the settings have been verified and the service is running on the DocuShare® Connect core server.

Perform a telnet into the remote port to ensure that the listener service is running.

To perform a telnet:

1. Click Start → Run.

2. In the Run box, type cmd and click OK.

3. The Command window appears.

4. In the Command window, type Telnet, the remote server IP address and the transmission

control protocol (TCP) port number to connect.

5. For example, Telnet 192.168.30.65 9932

6. Press the Enter key on the keyboard.

7. Either one of the two cases can occur:

The Command window turns blank with a flashing cursor as shown in Figure 27. This implies that the TCP handshake has been successful and the listner service is working correctly.

Figure 27: Command Window - TCP Handshake Successful

A Connect failed error appears on the Command window as shown in Figure 28. This could be because of:

8. A problem with the firewall on the remote server.

9. The DocuShareConnect OCR Host Service on the remote server may not have been started.

10. The DocuShareConnect OCR Host Service is configured to a use a different port, other than

the one requested by OCR Service.

Figure 28: Command Window - TCP Handshake Unsuccessful

11. If the connection fails, make the required network connections and test again.
