PE1 Expansion (R3) Connecting Local Business to Construction Trades R3 Polyethylene Expansion November 2013 Project Overview Construction has begun on the expansion of our polyethylene facilities at the Joffre Site which will include a world- scale polyethylene reactor (R3) and associated infrastructure. Ledcor Projects Inc. has assumed lead contractor responsibilities for the construction of the main portion of the expansion. Quick Facts $900 million capital investment; including start-up spending the total is close to $1 billion to 2015. Peak workforce up to 800 late 2014 to mid-2015. 800 person years or 1.6 million work hours. 40% to 60% capital cost to be spent in Alberta. Majority for direct labour. Upon completion: 25 – 35 Permanent employees. 15 – 25 Contract positions. Local amenities are also an important consideration and we want to connect worker needs with all that Central Alberta has to offer through a simple program. We will provide participating businesses with promotional items (such as window decals) as visual reminders to workers that your business is participating in the program for the duration of the project.
