The 1830 U. S. Census for Virginia, Rockingham County, lists the GeorgeHartman household.(49) The census listed 2 males under five years of age, 2 males ten

years old and under fifteen, and one male age thirty and under forty. Females consistedof one age ten and under fifteen, one age thirty and under forty, and one age forty andunder fifty. The 1830 census data does not seem to match very well with the dates ofbirth of the Hartman children given above.

The 1840 U. S. Federal Census for Indiana, Fountain County, Wabash Township,lists a George Martman household (George Hartman household).(50) The 1840 censuslists both the oldest male and female family members as age 40 and under age 50. Thiswould agree with the birth dates for both George Hartman and Elizabeth Royer.

George Hartman died September 3, 1843, in Fountain County, Indiana.(51) Hewas buried in Campbell Cemetery in Fountain County, Indiana.(52) Elizabeth (Royer)Hartman, wife of George Hartman, is listed in the 1850 U.S. Census for Indiana,Wabash, Fountain County. Her age is given as 55, born in Virginia.(53) She is listed inthe 1860 U. S. Census for Indiana, Wabash, Fountain County. Her age is listed as 63 andher place of birth is given as Virginia. Her Post Office is listed as Covington andCoalcreek.(54) Elizabeth Hartman also appears in the 1870 U. S. Census for Indiana,Wabash, Fountain County. Her age is listed as 73 and her state of birth is Virginia.(55)No census record was found for her in 1880. Elizabeth (Royer) Hartman died April 15,1886, in Fountain County, Indiana.(56) She was buried in Campbell Cemetery, FountainCounty, Indiana.(57)
