General Information

Eventful is a Premium Wordpress Theme developed to create events-oriented

websites. Taking advantage of the powerful custom-post-type feature in

Wordpress (v 3.0 and above), we created a complex platform that can handle

events, locations and artists with a bundle of features and options. Eventful -

Events Premium Wordpress Theme is sold through MoJo-Themes.com website.

Eventful - Premium Wordpress Theme offers a solid, reliable platform to create,

maintain and further develop event focused websites. In version 1.0 you will

discover the following features:

A complex events management system that allows you to create rock-

solid, complex databases featuring locations, events and artists

A simple and effective booking system configurable for each event

Web 2.0 front-end design that is both simple and quick to master

Complex yet intuitive Theme Option Page that allows you to modify key

How-to use Eventful

While Eventful - Premium Wordpress Theme is an intuitive platform we strongly

recommend reading the Documentation before installation. You will find many

interesting things and it will also provide answers to many of the questions you

might have.

Eventful Options

In Wordpress Dashboard select Appearance in left-hand menu then click on

Eventful Options. Here you will see a list of customizable features.

General Settings

These are the most important features of the theme that you can modify in order

to create a website that reflects your company's identity or your personal taste.

Please take a look at the following image.

Select theme: You can select between 3 predefined themes (Main Style Theme,

Vintage Style Theme and Dark Style Theme) created to cover a variety of colors

and backgrounds.

Your Logo: You can upload your .png transparent logo.

Recommended size: should not be bigger than width: 320px; height: 100px.

Logo type: This option allows you to choose between Text Type Logo or Image

Type Logo. If you select Image Type Logo you must also upload a .png

transparent file (see above) with you logo. Text Logo Type option will display the

title of your website, that you can modify in Dashboard > Settings > General.

Custom Text: Custom text that will show in a special box on your website. If you

leave this field empty, the box will not be displayed.

Contact info: insert your email, phone number and address. These information

will be displayed on your front-end site so use only public information.

Copyright Info: Insert your custom copyright text. This field will display html code

in the footer bar before Developer Link information.

Developer Link: Insert your developer website or any information about the

customization of your theme. This field will display html code in the footer bar

next to copyright information.

Display ads in sidebar: If you click to activate this options, you will be able to

display the advertising code you have inserted in the field below - Advertising

Code.

Advertising code: Here you can insert a wide variety of advertising codes, from

simple banner links to Adsense code in order to monetize your website.

Recommended size: should not be bigger than width: 260 px.

Analytics code: This will be use in the header to help you track your visitors.

404 - Page Not Found Custom Text: By default, Eventful has a 404 error

message. Using this field will allow you to change the text/html code you will

display to your visitors on error pages.

Backgrounds & Colors This menu allows you to customize the background and offers a vast list of color

options .

Header/Footer Options Background image: Here you can upload your favorite background. After you

upload your image make sure you press Save changes button in order to see

modifications to your website.

Background option (Repeat/No-Repeat/Repeat-X/Repeat-Y): Repeat will repeat

on both y and x axis the background image you uploaded, repeat-X will repeat

the image on X axis (horizontal) and repeat-Y will repeat your background on Y

axis (vertical). If you are not familiar with CSS markup please read

CSS Background documentation

Heading Color: defines H1 heading in header and H3 heading in footer.

Link Color: link color for Header, Footer and Custom Text area.

Link Hover Color: sets color for link hover instance in Header, Footer and

Custom Text area.

Body Options Background image: Here you can upload your favorite background. After you

upload your image make sure you press Save changes button in order to see

modifications to your website.

Background option (Repeat/No-Repeat/Repeat-X/Repeat-Y): Repeat will repeat

Bottom Bar Options Text Color: text color for the Bottom footer bar. This color setting is also used in

other website areas with inverted background color.

color setting is also used in other website areas with inverted background color.

If you choose to alter the code in order to manually modify

Fonts

This menu allows you to easily customize the type and the size of the fonts you’ll

be using in various areas of your website. Press Save Settings to apply

changes. To revert to a default state press the Reset button.

Header - Page Title Font: Select a font for the header page title.

Header - Page Title Font Size: Select the font size for the header page title.

Body - Section Titles Font: Select a font for the body section title heading.

Body - Section Titles Font Size: Select the font size for the body section title

headings.

Body - Sidebar Titles Font: Select a font for the body sidebar titles headings.

Body - Sidebar Titles Font Size: Select the font size for the body sidebar titles

headings.

Body - Articles Titles Font: Select a font for the body articles titles headings.

Body - Articles Titles Font Size: Select the font size for the body articles titles

headings .

Body - Inner Articles Titles Font: Select a font for the body inner articles titles

headings.

Body - Inner Articles Titles Font Size: Select the font size for the body inner

articles titles headings.

Footer - Articles Titles Font: Select a font for the footer article titles headings.

Eventful has integrated Google Fonts and offers access to a set of 18 fonts.

Please note that these fonts behave differently at different sizes so you will also

have to alter the size accordingly to each font and it's characteristics.

Social Networks

In version 1.0 of Eventful - Premium Wordpress Theme you can use six social

network icons that will link to your Social Accounts. Please see the image

bellow:

Slider Options

You can select between two sliders on front page: Flash - Piecemaker 3D and

jQuery - CoinSlider. Both sliders will display images uploaded from Events,

Locations or Artists.

Please read chapter "Custom fields" in this documentation for more details on

how to send content to these sliders.

Contact/Booking

Information provided here will be used to send confirmation emails on both

Booking system and Contact form. As an additional feature, you can activate/

deactivate the booking system on your whole website. See image bellow:

Events Management

Events management on Eventful Premium Wordpress Theme is based on

Custom Post Type feature available in Wordpress +3.0. When you want to add

a new event is recommended to have basic knowledge of the administration

panel in Wodpress.

Step 1 - go to the left-hand menu in administration panel and click on the Events

button

Step 2 - In the drop-down menu click on Add Event link

Step 3 - Enter you title in the appropriate field

Step 4 - Add a description to your new event

Step 5 - In "Event Date and Time Info" box click on the "From:" field and a

calendar will appear. Select your desired date and then shift the slides to the

right in order to set the starting hour and minutes of your event. Repeat in "To:"

field the same procedure to set the end date/hour/minutes.

You can leave these fields empty but your event will be visible in the front-end

of your website just in the selected category.

Step 6 - Select or create a new category that fits your event.

Step 7 - Select a featured image for your event. If you do not add an image to

your event, Eventful will add a default "no-image" picture. Since Wordpress does

such a good job to resize images we would only want to recommend you not to

use images bigger then 1400px width or to check the file upload limit on your

server.

Step 8 – In the "Features" box if you click the "Featured" option, this event will

be displayed in "Featured Events" slider available on the front-end.

Steps 9-10 - In order to display your article in the main slider (Flash/jQuery)

available on home-page, you must activate the "Enable in Frontpage Slider"

option. Also, you must upload an image of 960px width and 360px height for

your event.

Step 11 - In the "Tag Artist" box you can add as many artists or performers as

you want. All the artists inserted here will be automaticly linked to the event.

Step 12 - In order to display Booking Form on this event you must select

"Enable Booking" in "Booking Information" box. Also, please remember to add

the number of places/seats available for booking. Once the number of

reservations is equal to number of seats, Eventful will display a "Sold Out"

message to your visitors.

Step 13 - In "Location" box enter the name of the location hosting this event.

This will link your event to a specific location that you can add/edit after you

publish your event.

Step 14 - Publish your event and you will be able to see it on your website.

After you publish your event, if you added new Artist/s and/or new Location

you will see one or two red boxes on top of your new event. You can use links in

those boxes to edit and add content to new Artist/s or Location. See image

below:

Artists Management

For Artists Management please reffer to Events Management except Steps: 5,

11, 12 and 13. See image below:

It is recommended to use unique artist names/titles. The titles in this section are

added as tags by Eventful and Wordpress needs unique names in order to

facilitate proper interchangeable links.

Locations Management

For Locations Management please reffer to Events Management except Steps:

Menus & Navigation

Eventful - Events Premium Wordpress Theme - comes with a couple of

modifications to the original Wordpress menu system in order to facilitate the use

of features such as Events, Artists and Locations (Custom Posts Type) . See

image below:

In order to customize your website's main menu you must go to administration,

left-hand menu, click on Appearance > Menus. Immediately you should see 4

additional option boxes/panels:

Location Categories, Event Categories, Artist Categories and Custom Post

Types. In order to insert into your menu the main features

(Events/Locations/Artists) you must go to Custom Post Types box and click on

all 3 options (Locations/Events/Artists). When you are finished press the "Add to

menu" button and the selected custom post types will be added to your menu

(right panel).

To add sub-navigation to your custom post types just go to Location

Categories, Event Categories, Artist Categories and click on the categories you

want to add to the menu. After you select all your desired categories, go to the

right side panel and move your categories (drag-and-drop) under the adequate

Custom Post Type. After you are finished just press on Save Menu button and

go to your website and check the new menu.

Another thing you should be aware is that in Eventful - Events Premium

Wordpress Theme - Default Posts are used as Blog Items. So, the Categories

box in this section will refer to Blog Categories.

In order to set-up a link in your menu to your blog we recommend the following

method:

In administration go to the Left-Hand Menu and click on Pages>Add New.

Enter the title of your blog (ex. My Blog) and then go to the Page Attributes

panel and at the Select Template box choose "Blog Template".

Click on the Publish button and return to Appearance>Menus. Here, go to the

Pages panel and select My Blog and press the Add to Menu button; then go to

Categories and click on the blog categories you want to add to the menu. When

you are finished click the Add to Menu button and go to the right-hand panel to

arrange the newly added categories under "My Blog" item. When you are ready,

just press "Save Menu" and go to your website to check the new menu.

If one or more panels reffered in this documentation are not iniatially available,

click on Screen Options and select them by checking the adequate checkbox.

Sidebars

In Eventful - Events Premium Wordpress Theme - you can find 6 sidebars:

Events Sidebar - can be found in Events Custom Post Type related pages such

as Events Archives, Events Categories and Single Event

Footer Sidebar - this sidebar is inserted in the footer of you website and it was

designed to accept list type widgets

Front Page Sidebar - can be found on your homepage and it can display any

widget. In the original design this sidebar was created to incorporate the latest

featured Artist.

Artists Sidebar - can be found in Artists Custom Post Type related pages such

as Artists Archives, Artists Categories and Single Artist

Locations Sidebar - can be found in Locations Custom Post Type related pages

such as Locations Archives, Locations Categories and Single Locations

Blog Sidebar - is used in blog sections and default pages.

Widgets

Eventful - Events Premium Wordpress Theme comes with 4 custom made

widgets:

Upcoming Events – it’s a list of the latest 5 Upcoming Events that can be

displayed in all sidebars except the Footer Sidebar. The list contains Event's

image, title and the date of the event.

Featured Artist - displays the latest featured artist with picture, title and short

description and the latest3 events in which the artist was mentioned. This widget

can be displayed in all sidebars except the Footer Sidebar.

Custom Categories - you can select the custom post type you need to create a

categories list (Events/Locations/Artists). This widget can be displayed in all

sidebars.

Display Advertising - displays advertising from the code inserted in Eventful

Options page.

Styles & Format

Eventful - Events Premium Wordpress Theme was coded and validated with

HTML5 and CSS3.

Main styles are defined in style.css file. The file is well commented and every

individual section is marked at the beginning and at the end with:

/themes/style1-3.php - files store the defaults of each of the 3 predefined

themes of Eventful. These files are used for the Administration Panel > Eventful

Options > General Settings > Select Theme option and hold the main

features of the theme such as backgrounds, colors and borders.

/themes/style.css - this file holds the default theme values used on theme

install. It is recommended to avoid modifying this file.

/themes/style-fonts.php - this file holds the default fonts used in this theme and

handles the values set in Wordpress Dashboard. It is recommended to avoid

modifying this file.

If you wish to modify the look of your theme we suggest to create a copy of

style*.php (which is closest to your needs) and make changes. If you want a

more detailed level of access please check style.css in the root directory.

We recommend a good understanding of chapter Files & Hierarchy of this

documentation as well as CSS3 at an advanced level before you modify the

HTML & PHP

Eventful Theme was coded using features as Custom Posts Types and

Taxonomies available in Wordpress. It has a complicated file system in order to

incorporate a variety of features and to offer a complex yet intuitive events

manager system. Please refrain from modifying the structure or code of this

theme if you are not well familiarized with PHP/HTML/Java/Wordpress and

chapter Files & Hierarchy of this documentation.

Permalinks

Eventful - Events Premium Wordpress Theme is using the Permalinks System of

Wordpress. You can use Administration Panel > Settings > Permalinks to set

your preferred link structure. All predefined Common Settings were tested plus a

comprehensive list of custom URLs structure. However, if you have trouble

setting you own custom URLs please contact us.

In order to set a custom 404 error for your website, please go to root directory of

your Wordpress Install and add to .htaccess file the following line:

ErrorDocument 404 /your_Eventful_directory/index.php?error=404 in .htaccess
