PREFACE
This is the third 10-lesson volume of the DLI 18-week
Short Course in Thai. The course consists of 60 lessons
and accompanying tape recordings together with an Introduction
to Thai Script and a Glossary.
The texts are designed for classroom use and the
approach is audio-lingual. The course objective is to
train native English speakers to Level 1 elementary
proficiency in speaking, understanding, and reading the
language. Basic structural patterns of Thai are introduced
along with vocabulary that is generally useful for Americans
in Thailand.
In order that the final version of the course may be
refined, the Defense Language Institute will greatly
appreciate constructive criticisms from users.
