Customizing the LogoMyPC can now easily be customized by adding your institutional logo. It is also possible to modify a style sheet for the background, top bar and colors.

Please note that before continuing with the customization it is essential to make a backup ofthe “MyPC” folder located on the MyPC server. The file is located in:

Computer > Local Disk (C:) > inetpub > wwwroot > MyPC

This is how the standard MyPC web user interface looks.

To replace the logo please navigate to:

Computer > Local Disk (C:) > inetpub > wwwroot > MyPC > img > Header

You will notice a placeholder called myPC_Logo.png. To add an institutional logo, simply replace the myPC_Logo image file with the preferred logo (\img\new\custom_logo.png). The appropriate size for the custom logo should be 170x34 however if the image is larger than this in height the MyPC headerwill adjust itself to it.


Copy the new Logo.png to the following location:

Computer > Local Disk (C:) > inetpub > wwwroot > MyPC > img > Header

Rename the existing myPC_Logo.png to myPC_Logo.png.old or move the existing image file to a place where it can be easily accessed for future use if required.Rename the new logo to myPC_Logo.

Once this task is complete an IIS restart is required. The MyPC Server service should also be restarted at this point for all the changes to take effect.


Log into MyPC web user interface, the screen will look like this.

Customizing the Web InterfaceMyPC can be themed with different colors where the background color, text and top bar are fully customizable with one simple change. Customizing the web user interface falls into the following classes outlined below:

Color Scheme1This is the main MyPC web user interface color scheme i.e. blue background with a white font. Modifying these two colors will give a completely new look to the web user interface from the booking grid to the dialogs and buttons.

Color Scheme2This is the secondary color scheme that is used on some parts like the dialog boxes.

To customize the colors for both colourschema1 and colourschema2 please go to the following location:

Computer > Local Disk (C:) > inetpub > wwwroot > MyPC >css


Open the MyPC file contained in the list. When prompted you should open the file in Notepad.


Scroll down and search for both colourschema1 and colourschema2 or use the Find option inNotepad.

The colors to both schemas can easily be modified by changing the HTML color codes highlighted below in red.

background-color: #014E82 (changes the background color of the user web interface)

color: #ffffff (changes the color of the text on the user web interface)

.colourscheme2

background-color: #f5f5f5(changes the background color of the dialogue boxes) color: #333333(changes the color of the text of the dialogue boxes)

A list of HTML color codes are freely available on the internet e.g. PINK = #FF00FF. A list of basicHTML colors are shown in the screenshot below.


Please use the link provided below as an example that displays a color chart listing over 150 various colors in addition to the basic color codes shown in the screenshot above.

In the example below we have modified both colourscheme1 and colourscheme2.

Colourscheme1 changes the background color, text and header on the web interface as shown in the screenshot below.

Colourscheme2 changes the background color and text of the dialogue boxes shown in the screenshot overleaf.



Customizing the Booking ColorsThe instructions below show you how to modify the colors used within the legend on the booking screen, which will reflect the background colors on the booking grid to show the status of each time slot of the PCs.

Please note that before continuing with the customization it is essential to make a backup ofthe “img” folder located on the MyPC server. The file is located in:

Computer > Local Disk (C:) > inetpub > wwwroot > MyPC

In this example we will change the default color used to show the Elapsed time slots (The current color is grey).

Navigate to:

Computer > Local Disk (C:) > inetpub > wwwroot > MyPC > img > Bookings


Next (on a pc that has picture-editing software like MS paint or Microsoft Office Picture Manager)open the file gry.png (we will illustrate this using MS paint) by right clicking on the file, select Open with and then select Paint.


As the image is very small, you will need to use the magnifying glass to zoom into the image (8x) to see the color of the image.


Next choose the fill with color tool and select the desired color e.g. orange.


Fill the grey image by clicking on various parts of the image, you will need to use the scroll bars to view the entire image to ensure that the complete grey image has changed to the desired color, inour case orange.


Click on the Save to overwrite the existing file.


Log in to the MyPC web user interface. You will notice on the booking grid that the Elapsed status color has changed from grey to orange as shown in the screenshot below.

If you ever need to change all of the amended files back to the default colors, simply restore the backup of the img folder to C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\MyPC and overwrite the folder containing the amended files. You can restore individual files by replacing the amended files with the original filesfrom the backup made at the start of this document.
