Mcln top!!. Group.

This group exposed no ore in two shafts of 135 t

and 110 f containing several drifts and crosscuts. It con-

sists of six claims.

Witherly Group.

This property bas an 400 foct tunnel fol:! owing a

small ledge in porphyry which trends northeast and south-

west. The ore, a quartz porphyry carries a small percentage

of sulphurets. A general sample from the tunnel shows:

This company have a group of ten claims located on

and nl~ar Slim Jim Gulch, about two miles from the Hassayampa.

Patents have been applied for on t be Mercury, Gold Bug Cacti

ano. Hobson's Choice. The ore is a wh i te quartz in a grani te

and syenite country and shows small amounts of Galena and

Iron pyrites.

A considerable amount of mOney is represented in

buildings and machint3ry but comparatively little has thus

far been devoted to development work.

L. A tunnel 300 f eet long crosscuts the vein at

170 feet where it meets a well timbered dO'U.ble compartment

shaft running to surface and below the level for 40 feet.

beyond the shaft a 30 foot winze follows a 2 foot streak of

The company is now installing a Holo_erman cya.nide

plant for are treatment and claim ample tonnage. Time

was lacking to samplH the work systematically without which

nO conclusion could be offered on such an investment. The

developmen t is a ~;sure(ny small for the erec tien of a plant,

but th~ values r eported but not corrOborated are large.

Genera.l Conclusions on the District

The territory covered being that generally bounded

by the Hassayampa on the west and the Yavapai~~ricopa County

line on the south is northeast and tributary to Wickenburg

In gent~ral the north lying and remote properti,es

the Powell White and Black Rock pr operties are at present

free milling propositions, which will need considerable devel

opment to show any considerable sulphide or concentrate ship-

menta.

The Interior (0'Br1en's) and the Keystone will in

the main be concentrating propositions.

For the immedia te present the rest will be excl1~si-

vely Shipi)ing propositions until development demonstrates

the final character of developed ores. Many will or may be

concentrating at water level but none probably free milling.

In general even where sulphides are seen on surf'ace

the rock often horns well. The veins in general are strong

and the porphy.l:"Y dykes giving cont~ct deposits, frequent.

Iron bearing quartz is frequent, and it carries

mineral ized sulphurei;ted ores of copper, at least sufficient

to be noticeable, and suggest the inference of shipment of

siliceous copper ores •

. Almost no work had been done to determine the .per-

manency of the ore deposits at depth, but the Interior cer-

tainly must be noted as a very favorable discovery.

It would be impossible to positively and accurately

assure tonnage for a ra.ilway, but is is inevitable that a

saving would be effected on present frei Ght costs as well as

the important item of fuel, so that if a road will contribute

to a~r other purpose, the mineral development will surely be

a large ad4!~~on~1 factor. This was the final opinion of
