The students of The Mann School participated with great enthusiasm and
curiosity in the ISA activity- "Food Mania". It was conducted on 12th July, 2017 for
classes IV and V in the school .The students prepared a variety of cuisines of
Germany, Italy and India and set up stalls. A few parents and visitors were invited
to witness the same.
As a part of the ISA activity an online Interactive session was also held between
the students of the "The Mann School" and the students of the "Destiny Primary
School", Ruwa, Zimbabwe on 14th July, 2017. They prepared the recipes of each
other's country. The students of The Mann School prepared Smoothie,
Zimbabwean drink and Destiny Primary School, Ruwa, Zimbabwe prepared the
Indian dish, Coconut Balls and displayed the prepared recipes during the Skype
Session.
It was an exposure and opportunity for the students to share and learn a different
culture.
To inculcate love for a foreign language among the students, Department of
French celebrated 'French National Day' on July 14, 2017.The major attractions
included scintillating 'Fancy Dress Show, ' group songs and speeches both in
French and English.
On the bright and beautiful morning of July 25, 2017, deserving young talents of
the Mann School were conferred with the responsibility of leading their School
from the front with their commitment, confidence and competence. The school
held the Investiture Ceremony which was presided over by the Principal Cdr. V.K
Banga. He along with the House masters and Wardens pinned badges on the
new appointees. Following appointees took the solemn oath to put into action the

The MS potential was judged in 'Business Quiz' and
'Business Model' through power point presentation
competition 'ECONOBIZ' organised by St. Xavier's
School, Rohini, Delhi. In this regard, the MS Team from
the Commerce Department participated in the Inter
School Competition. Among 16 eminent schools
participating in the competition, Aradhana Joshi (XI) and
Aditya Nivetia (XI) grabbed the first position for their
business model presentation through PPT. Himani
Sharma (XII) and Aditya Bhadoria(XII) stood the first
runner ups in the Quiz respectively.
As being up-to-date on general knowledge in various
subjects and current affairs in different domains makes
one a better person, the Mann School organized six
rounds of 'Big Brain' G.K Quiz 2017 for the primary,
middle and senior divisions' students respectively on
August 2017. It comprised of four students each from
each team who proved their mettle. The quiz included
three rounds; The Pass Round, The Clue Round, The
Choice Round, Visual Round, The Buzzer Round and the
Rapid Fire Round. Buddha House was declared winner
in both the senior and the middle wings followed by
Dayanand House grabbing the second position among
the seniors and juniors. In the Primary level, Vyas House
stood first followed by the Buddha House.
Students from class II to V delightfully displayed their
oratory skills in the story telling competition. They
narrated folk tales of countries like India, China, UK and
France. Props were used to add beauty and grace to the
presentation.
The Department of School Education and Literacy,
Ministry of Human Resource and Development
organised Inter School Band Competition at National Bal
Bhavan, Kotla Road, New Delhi on August 10, 2017
under an initiative undertaken for celebrating the 70
years of Independence and 75 years of the Quit India
movement.
Among 29 schools participating in the competition,
MAPSBAND (school band) mesmerised the audience
by playing tunes like 'Kadam Kadam Badaye Ja, General
Tappy and Saare Jahan Se Achcha' on the smartly
dressed brass band. They were awarded the 2nd Best
position in their category comprising of 17 teams.
Thunderous applause greeted their bri l l iant
performance.
Birth of Lord Krisna', Janmashtami' was celebrated in the
school with great pomp and show. The celebrations
included a short skit, dance bhajan sandhya, speeches
in Hindi and English to enlighten the minds of students
about the teachings of Lord Krishna.

71st Independence Day was celebrated on 15th August
2017 with great fervor and show in the School campus
Lt. Col. PrahladOienam, an alumnus of the The Mann
School, presided over the National Day celebration.
After unfurling the National Flag, he took the salute of the
marchpast from contingents of the three Houses led by
their House Captains and Vice-Captains respectively
and the two troops of NCC, i.e.,Army and Air Force which
constituted the marchpast.
Marchpast was followed by colourful band display.
Patriotic songs sung by the school choir and a dance skit
performance were enacted. The theme was paying
tribute to the martyrs of the freedom movement.
There was a felicitation ceremonyt o honour the award
winning achievers of the school. The Chairman of the
Mann School Mr. J.S Mann presented a memento to the
Chief Guest. Principal Cdr. V.K Banga, thanked the Chief
Guest for gracing the occasion of his own almamater.
A competent team of Mapsians from the Department of
Commerce comprising of Himani Sharma (XII) Aditya
Bhadoria (XII), Aradhana Joshi (XI) and Vaibhav
Bhardwaj (XI) participated in the 3rd Sarla Birla Business
Quiz held at Birla Vidyamandir, Nainital on August 19,
2017 and proved their competence in the contest. They
grabbed the first position by scoring the highest in the
written round. They also earned the 2nd Best position for
their school in this battle of wits. They also won the
special performance trophy for displaying their refined
skills overall.
To support the campaign' Rally for Rivers' launched by
Sadguru Jaggi all across the country, the Primary Wing
of the School also organized a special assembly to
make the students aware of the legacy we have as
rivers. It included activities like poster making on ' Save
Rivers', presentation on the importance of rivers, dance
performance based on ' Save Ganga'and a speech
highlighting the need for it.
The Mann school celebrated the birthday of Major
Dhyan Chand as 'The National Sports Day' on August 29,
2017 on its campus by organizing different activities for
the students as well as the staff. The day began with the
Aquathlon Competition. Students of the senior wing
challenged themselves athletically to improve their
endurance. An awareness march was organized
covering the areas of Holambi Khurd and Khera Khurd.

Almost a hundred students participated in a march
carrying placards and banners to highlight the
significance of sports. An Inter House Sports Quiz
competition was organized for the students to enhance
their GK in this field..
As part of the ISA action plan, the school planned and
executed the activity on health and hygiene i.e. 'Stay Fit
and Remain Healthy'. A Health Clinic workshop was
conducted in the local area of Holambi and Khera Kalan
on August 29, 2017 and August 30, 2017 to awaken the
residents about health care and general hygiene. People
of different age groups came for free checkup of health.
Dr. Sarita Tripathi, Dr. R.P Singh and Mr. Arun Sharma
conducted the workshop.
More than 100 students took part in the rally in Holambi
and Khera Kalan. They carried banners and placards
with slogans written on them. They interacted with the
localities and motivated them to keep themselves and
their surroundings clean. Pamphlets among the people
were distributed which explained the importance of
living a healthy life.
To enrich the vocabulary of the students, inter House
Master 26, (Oral) was conducted during the English
Fortnight at various levels; Primary, Junior and Senior.
Rounds of known and unknown words were included in
the competition. Each team from the three houses
comprised of four participants. Students had to
pronounce, spell give the meaning and make a relevant
sentence of the word given.
Champions of the ' Master 26, 2017' were declared at
Primary, Junior and Senior levels. They were Suphita
Sathisethi (VII) and Shobhita Khatri (X) from the Primary
and Senior levels respectively.
Indian Schools' Public Conference (IPSC) facilitate all
around development of students through emphasis on
both academic and extra-curricular activities. In this
regard, a GK Test was conducted on Sep 9, 2017 in
which 54 schools participated zealously. Students from
classes 4 to 12 attempted the question paper in the
respective categories. Efforts of the students would be
recognized by providing them a certificate.
An Inter House Cricket Tournament was organized from
Sep 4 to Sep 11, 2017. It was match of 20 overs played
as per international standard of the game. Dayanand
House won the cricket trophy.
An Inter House English Debate was organized for the
Senior Division (IX-XII). The representatives of the three
houses spoke on the topic 'Electronic media is an
effective tool in the development of the minds of the
children'. They cited reasons and supported them with
suitable examples from real life to justify their stand.
Ishita( XI-E) was adjudged as the best speaker.
The students from classes 3rd to 5th visited National Bal
Bhawan on Sep 13, 2017. They had a good time seeing a
rich collection of objects made of stone and bronze,
traditional jewellery, art and craft articles etc. They also
witnessed the 'Gaurav Gatha Exhibition' which had
beautiful depictions of India's glorious past, mythology
and struggle for India's Independence. They were
excited to see a variety of fishes in the Jawahar Fish
Aquarium. Toy Train ride was the most thrilling moment
which they enjoyed the most.

CONFERENCE
It was a proud moment for The Mann School, Delhi to
host the IPSC Basketball Tournament (U-19 Boys)-2017
from September 24, 2017 to September 28, 2017.More
than 19 teams from the IPSC schools along with the
coaches and team incharges, ardently participated and
represented their schools from all over India. The
ambience of the campus depicted the passion for the
game.
The tournament was inaugurated on September 24,
2017. The IPSC flag was unfurled and the team captains
took a solemn oath to respect the rules and regulations
of the game and play in the true spirit of sportsmanship.
The tournament was declared open by the Chairman
IPSC.It was an exciting four days of basketball in which
the skills of the students were exhibited. With old rivalries
being rekindled and new ones created, the entire
tournament was intense as teams from different schools
battled for the trophy.
44 matches were played in all. Welham Boys Dehradun
clinched the first place and the champions trophy
followed by Modern School, Delhi and DPS R.K Puram
Delhi respectively. The tournament report and the
probables of the IPSC team-2017 were declared by the
Principal, The Mann School. The IPSC observer, chief
referee, the winning and the runners up teams,
participating teams, incharges, coaches, and referees
were honoured by the Chief Guest. The Chief Guest was
presented a memento as a token of regards by the
Chairman, Mr. J.S Mann.
The tournament was declared closed by the Chief Guest
of the ceremony, Mr. B.K Sood. He appreciated the
efforts of the Mann School for organising this megaevent
since years and blessed the students with his words of
wisdom. The competitive spirit in the teams made the
atmosphere electric.
The Mann School conducted career counseling
sessions and workshops to help the students in finding
out the right career options in the fields of their interest.
They included Anglo Eastern Ship Management for the
aspirants of Merchant Navy for students of classes 11th
and 12th.
Edu TV and Knowledge Confluence organized a panel
discussion on Sep 13, 2017 which included Vice
Chancellor and representatives of Ansal University,
Gurgaon, DIT University, Dehradun, Ashoka University,
Sonepat, World University of Design, Sonepat and
scholarship felicitation services for different Universities.
Students of Classes 11th and 12th got their doubts
cleared about their choice of career.
A workshop for non-medical students of classes 11th
and 12th was conducted by Lt. Shubham Sahlot on Sep
14, 2017 to guide and motivate the students about
Indian Navy.
