Welcome to Honors English 10!

In order to get to know you better, I would like you to compose a 5-paragraph essay (intro, 3 body, conclusion) to introduce yourself to me and to

the class. (Yes, that means you will be presenting in front of everyone-- *GASP*!) Your essay will be turned in to me, but from your essay you will form a short, 1-2 minute speech to present to the class. DO NOT read your essay verbatim and present it as your speech; make sure it summarizes your

essay and sounds like a well-written speech.

However, this isn’t going to be a typical intro essay…For this essay, I would like you to introduce yourself by

comparing/contrasting yourself to/with a character from a movie, novel or television show you watched or have read recently. All of our traits do not have to come from the same character. Make sure that you thoroughly describe the character and prove how you and your character share that specific trait. Be creative and have fun with this!

This will be graded like any other essay. I will be checking for correct grammar, spelling, content and format. You will also receive points for presenting your essay to the class. The rubric I will be using is attached.
