Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing

Come Thou Fount of every blessing, tune my heart to sing Thy grace; Streams of mercy, never ceasing, call for songs of loudest praise; Teach me some melodious sonnet, sung by flaming tongues above. Praise the mount! I'm fixed upon it, mount of God's unchanging love.

Here I raise my Ebenezer; hither by Thy help I'm come; And I hope, by Thy good pleasure, safely to arrive at home. Jesus sought me when a stranger, wandering from the fold of God; He, to rescue me from danger, interposed His precious blood.

O to grace how great a debtor, daily I'm constrained to be! Let that grace now like a fetter, bind my wandering heart to Thee. Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it, prone to leave the God I love; Here's my heart, O take and seal it, seal it for Thy courts above.

On that day when freed from sinning, I shall see Thy lovely face; Clothed then in blood washed linen, how I’ll sing Thy sovereign grace; Come, my Lord, no longer tarry, take my ransomed soul away; Send thine angels now to carry, me to realms of endless day.

CONFESSION OF SINFather, we lower our heads before you and we confess that we have too often forgotten that we are yours. Sometimes we carry on our lives as if there was no God, and we fall short of being a credible witness to You. For these things, we ask your forgiveness, and we also ask for your strength. Give us clear minds and open hearts so we may witness of You in our world. Remind us to be who You would have us to be regardless of what we are doing or who we are with. Hold us to You and build our relationship with You and with those You have given us on earth. Through Christ our Lord, Amen.SILENT CONFESSION OF SIN

ASSURANCE OF PARDON 1 John 3:1a

HYMN OF PARDON How Deep the Father’s Love for Us

Music and Lyrics: Stuart TownendHow deep the Father’s love for us, how vast beyond all measure; That He should give His only Son, to make a wretch His treasure.

How great the pain of searing loss - the Father turns His face away,As wounds which mar the Chosen One, bring many sons to glory.

Behold the man upon a cross, my sin upon His shoulders;Ashamed, I hear my mocking voice, call out among the scoffers. It was my sin that held Him there, until it was accomplished; His dying breath has brought me life - I know that it is finished.

I will not boast in anything, no gifts, no power, no wisdom; But I will boast in Jesus Christ, His death and resurrection. Why should I gain from His reward? I cannot give an answer; But this I know with all my heart - His wounds have paid my ransom.

CONFESSION OF FAITH The Heidelberg CatechismQuestion: What are good works?Answer: Only those which are done out of true faith, conform to God’s law, and are done for God’s glory; and not those based on our own opinion or human tradition.

HYMN OF RESPONSE Come Thou Long- Expected JesusCome, Thou long-expected Jesus, born to set Thy people free;from our fears and sins release us; let us find our rest in Thee.Israel’s strength and consolation, hope of all the earth Thou art;dear desire of every nation, joy of every longing heart.

Joy to those who long to see thee, Dayspring from on high, appear;Come, thou promised Rod of Jesse, of thy birth we long to hear!O’er the hills the angels singing news, glad tidings of a birth;“Go to him, your praises bringing; Christ the Lord has come to earth.”

Come to earth to taste our sadness, he whose glories knew no end;By his life he brings us gladness, our Redeemer, Shepherd, Friend.Leaving riches without number, born within a cattle stall; This the everlasting wonder, Christ was born the Lord of all.

Born Thy people to deliver, born a child, and yet a King,Born to reign in us forever, now Thy gracious kingdom bring.By Thine own eternal Spirit rule in all our hearts alone;By Thine own sufficient merit, raise us to Thy glorious throne.
