ThisspecificationcoversSeriesHeatingCableMatsandtheirinstallationinconcreteforafloorwarmingapplication.

2 Applicabledocuments2.1 Thecable

Thecableset,putonself-adhesiveflexiblefibreglassmeshandsecuredbyadhesivetape,shallcomply(certified)withthefollowingstandards:

• CAN/CSA-C22.2NO.130-03,Requirementsforelectricalresistanceheatingcablesandheatingdevicesets;designationGforgeneraluseanddesignationWforwetenvironmentinCanadaandinstallationtypeCintheUSA.

• IEEE515.1–StandardforTesting,Design,InstallationandMaintenanceofElectricalResistanceHeatTracingforCommercialApplications.

3 Specifications3.1 Dimensions

Dependingontherequiredelectricalpowerandinstallationapplication,thematshallbeavailableindifferentlengthstooptimisethefloorsurfacetoheat.Makesuretoproperlyplantheproductsrequiredsincetheycannotbemodified.Thecableonthesubstrateshallhaveanominaldiameterof7/32inch(5.6mm)inordertoassureagoodimpactresistanceduringembedding.

3.2 MatstructurePutonaself-adhesiveflexiblefiberglassmesh,theGreenCable™Concreteissecuredonbothsidesandinthemiddleofthemeshbyanadhesivetape.ForthestructureoftheGreenCable™ConcretepleaserefertothetechnicaldrawingoftheConcreteMatXpress.

3.3 CompatibilitywithinstallationsurfacesandfloorcoveringsForanapplicationrequiringaninstallationinconcrete,thematshallbecompatiblewithinstallationenvironmentandfloorcoveringsasindicatedinthefollowingtables.

3.4 ElectricalspecificationsForanapplicationrequiringaninstallationinaconcreteslab,thecableshallcomplywiththeelectricalcharacteristicsasdescribedinthefollowingtable.

3.5 ElectricalvoltageThecableshallbecompatiblewithelectricalinstallationsof240VACor208VAC.

3.6 Cablesecuringsystem

Thesecuringsystemofthematwillbeaself-adhesiveflexiblefiberglassmeshwithadditionalanchorsifneeded.

3.7 ControlsFLPseriesprogrammablethermostatorFLKseriesnon-programmablethermostatincorporatingaclassAcertifiedGFCI,electronic,withlowvoltagemodule,includingatleastonetemperatureprobethatneedstobefixedtotherigidinsulationorsubfloor,placedascloseaspossibletothefloorcovering.Ifembeddingintheconcreteslab,theprobemustbeinsertedinaplasticconduitprovidedforthispurpose(FLS1260T).Foraninstallationexceeding15A,usetheFLEseriesexpansionunit.

4 Installation

• SecuretheheatingmatinaccordancetoFLEXTHERMConcreteMatXpressinstallationguide;torigidconcreteinsulation,concreteorplywoodwithitsself-adhesivemesh.

• PlacethethermostatremotesensingprobeinaccordancetoFLEXTHERMConcreteMatXpressinstallationguide.

• Donotcrossexpansionjointswithcable.

• Donotalterheatingcablelength.

• Ensurecablesdonotbunchorcross.

• Donotturnyoursystemon,norproceedwithfloorcoveringinstallation,immediatelyaftertheconcreteispoured.Thesystemcanbeoperatedonlyaftertheconcretehascompletelycured.Refertotheinstructionsofyourconstructionprofessionaltoverifythecuringtime:thiscuringperiodisessentialsothattheconcretereachesitsfullhardness.

5 Application

6 Qualityassurance 6.1 Warranty

TheConcreteMatXpressshallbeara20yearlimitedwarrantyagainstanymanufacturingdefectwhenit’sinstalledinconformitywiththeinstallationguide.

6.2 GeneralEachproductisinspectedatthesource,duringmanufacturingandattheend,inordertoensurecompliancewiththepresentspecification.

6.3 Productmanufacturinghistory Everyproducthasauniqueserialnumberthattracestheproductmanufacturinghistory.

6.4 RepairsThecablecanberepairedifit’sdamagedduringoraftertheinstallationandis5inchesorlessfromthefloorcoveringsurface.ContactourcustomerserviceforadiagnosisandarecommendationforatechnicianwhoisqualifiedtorepairFLEXTHERMheatingcables.

7 PackagingTheproductisshippedinaboxclearlyidentifiedwithitscontents.Eachboxshallinclude• Onerollofheatingmatandanchors;• Installationinstructionsincludingtestingproceduresduringinstallation.
