Darren Gumbs, aged 19, is currently studying a sports therapy, massage and personal training course at Solihull College but is also the reigning International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness champ. The Edgbaston resident, who moved to Birmingham from the Caribbean in 2004, has been religously training for four hours a day since January 2002 and his hobby has taken him all around the world. Darren discovered his tal- ent for bodybuilding in 2001 whilst performing as part of a youth group's production of Samson and Delilah. Mter being spotted by a local bodybuilder he started by Andy Walker training and has never looked back. As well as regular competi- tions, the teenager has taken on by a bodybuilding supple- ment company, LA Muscle, to model for their new cata- logue and has also acted in the BBC drama Dalziel and Pascoe. "I'm pleased that my body- building has been so success- ful for me so far, my aim now is to become overall British Junior Champion and to take my love of acting a bit fur- ther," said Darren. "However, my education is very important to me. I've really enjoyed the course at Solihull College so far and if a career as a muscular movie star doesn't work out, I've got the skills and the fitness lev- els to become a personal trainer," he added.
