2. OVERVIEWThis chapter provides a brief overview of SCHLAGOMAT’S user Interface. This document is about setting you up for your first steps and dive into all the functionality offered by this Instrument.

2.1 The Sequencer

SCHLAGOMAT comes with a classic 16-Step-Sequencer. Activating a Step initialises a Trigger-Impuls of a sample - a LED will light up during process.Choose any track by using the Instrument Menu or by clicking on one of the following functions: Volume, Decay, Pitch, Sound or Panorama. The Instrument Curser will show you automatically which Sequencer you have activated.

Each of the eleven Sequencer Tracks can be defined independently in length and starting point (1-16 steps), allowing you to generate polyrythmic patterns.

2.2. Sequencer functions and modes:

STEP LED: The step LED flash when a step is selected.Running light sequencer: Typical 16 step sequencer. A step sequencer sequences steps in a beat. You can extend the length of a pattern by saving a sequence to a further store program (see LOAD/SAVE PATTERN).

TRIGGER MODE: Choose among 3 sequencer modes. (TRIG) enables the normal sequencer mode. (HOLD) will latch all played steps. (OFF) turns the sequencer off.

2.2.2 SEQUENCER MODES:

Also, you can assign a different sample to each step.

PAGE 5

Page 6: DOC FINAL SCHLAGO - Loot Audio

Choose betwenn TRANSPOSE MODE (RED)and SAMPLE SLICE MODE (TURQUOISE) to get to a sequencer mode.

"DIRECTION" offers the opportunity to run a sequence backwards.

TRANSPOSE MODE (Tsp):

Mode to produce melodies in a range from -36 to +36 semitones.

SAMPLE SLICE MODE (Samp):

Mode for slicing samples - 1 to 127 samples

The cube on the right side generates arbitrary results, whether you choose "Transpose" and/or(?) "Sample Slice"

The button PRG/SEQ determines how Sequencer Track 11 will function:PRG: Sequencer works with a default programSEQ: Assign different samples to each Step.

It is also possible to alter the length of a sample by clicking on the Decay controller - another 16-Step-Sequencer will appear. The height of the bar represents the length of the chosen sample.

2.2.3 Global Sequencer parameter

START: Adjusts the start point of a sequence. The function is selectable for each track (BD,SND,CLAP etc..) separately.

STOP: Adjusts the stop point of a sequence. The function is selectable for each track (BD,SND,CLAP etc..) separately.

TEMPO: Adjusts the tempo in rhythmical values, synced to the master clock.

There are 7 different tempi available. 0 = 1/128 1 = 1/642 = 1/323 = 1/164 = 1/85 = ¼6 = ½

SWING: Offsets every other step by the specific amount in percent in order to create a swing feel. Positive values delay every other step, negative values push every other step forward.

REMIX: By pressing this button Schlagomtat will play a random position of all stepsexempt the first instrument channel‚ BD (Kick). This function is great for introducing some random variations of a pattern.

REPEAT: A looped step will repeat endlessly without any gap between its end and start.

3. Modulation capabilities:

FALL: Adjusts the time it will take the pitch envelope to rise or fall from zero after it has reached the breakpoint.

RISE: Adjusts the time it will take the pitch envelope to rise or fall from zero to the breakpoint after it has been triggered.")

BREAK: The level of the breakpoint. If this value is negative, the pitch envelope will fall, then rise, and behave the other way around if it is positive.

CUTOFF: Sets the frequency above which signals are attenuated.ATTENTION!! BD (LF filter) / All other tracks are equipped with BP Filters).

RESONANCE: Sets the resonance (boost at the cutoff frequency).

FILTER ATTACK: Adjusts the initial time it will take the envelope to reach its maximum level after it has been triggered.

FILTER DECAY: Adjusts the time it will take the envelope to fall from its maximum level to level set by the Sustain control. ( in Schlagomat the Sustain Level is set tomaximum )

FILTER DRIVE: Determines the „blast factor“. Higher values increase the amount ofdistortion.

NOISE: Add hiss to the sample material.

S.Rate: (Sample rate) Setting this control to anything other than OFF (bypass when this control is set to the maximum), reduces high frequency response and overall sample quality.

LFO Rate: Adjusts the frequency of the LFO´s output signal in Hz.

LFO Depth: This knob controls how large the parameter changes caused by the modulation signal changes will be.

5. MASTER EFFECT SECTION

DELAY TIME: Determines the interval in milliseconds between hearing the straight signal and the first delay of the delayed signal. This Parameter is synchronized to an external Midi clock.

DELAY Damp: Reduces high frequencies in the delayed signal. With feedback applied, each successive echo has progressively lower high-frequency response.

DELAY FEEDBACK: Sends a portion of the output back info the input of the delay line, which creates repeating echoes. A value of = produces only one echo, higher values give multiple echoes.

DELAY PAN: Setting a value higher the 0 results in a panning effect where each consecutive echo alternates between the left and right channel. The higher the value, the greater the stereo spread.

REVERB PREDELAY: Introduces a short amount of delay before the reverb takes effect. Increase this parameter to simulate larger rooms, decrease it for smaller rooms.

REVERB SIZE: Determines the room size by setting the length of the effect. Highervalues simulate larger rooms, lower values smaller rooms.

REVERB DAMP: Sets the amount of absorption in the room. Higher values simulate more absorption.

REVERB PAN: Higher values increase the stereo effect. Use lower values to simulate closer to the stage, and higher values for sitting further back in the hall.

IR Predelay: Determines the room size by setting the length of the effect. Higher values simulate larger rooms, lower values smaller rooms.

PAGE 13

Page 14: DOC FINAL SCHLAGO - Loot Audio

IR Size: Changes the length of the impulse sample up to 150% and down to 50% of its original length.

IR Highpass:Attenuates frequencies below the chose cutoff frequency.

IR Lowpass: Attenuates frequencies above the chose cutoff frequency.

IR LEVEL: Use this knob to set the amount of the IR signal sent to the main output.

IR MENU: Loads the next impulse sample.

Reverb Send level: Taps off sound from an Instrument Channel and sends it to the reverb effect.

Delay Send level: Taps off sound from an Instrument Channel and sends it to the delay effect.

5.2 TAPE SATURATOR

Gain: Controls the input of the effect. This will increase the amount of tape distortion and compression.

Warmth: Controls the low frequency boost/cut of the effect.

Hf Rolloff: Controls the high frequency rolloff starting frequency. Frequencies above this point will be attenuated.

Output: Sets the Modul´s output level.
