Do YOU Really Trust GOD?By Martha Gilbert

Deuteronomy 1:32 (AMP) Yet in spite of this word you did not believe (trust, rely on, and remain steadfast to) the Lord your God, 2 Kings 17:14 (AMP) Yet they would not hear, but hardened their necks as did their fathers who did not believe (trust in, rely on, and remain steadfast to) the Lord their God. Job 35:13-14 (AMP) Surely God will refuse to answer [the cry which is] vanity (vain and empty--instead of abiding trust); neither will the Almighty regard it--How much less when [missing His righteous judgment on earth] you say that you do not see Him, that your cause is before Him, and you are waiting for Him! Luke 9:41(AMP) Jesus answered, O [faithless ones] unbelieving and without trust in God, a perverse (wayward, crooked and warped) generation! Until when and how long am I to be with you and bear with you? Bring your son here [to Me]. John 3:18 (AMP) He who believes in Him [who clings to, trusts in, relies on Him] is not judged [he who trusts in Him never comes up for judgment; for him there is no rejection, no condemnation--he incurs no damnation]; but he who does not believe (cleave to, rely on, trust in Him) is judged already [he has already been convicted and has already received his sentence] because he has not believed in and trusted in the name of the only begotten Son of God. [He is condemned for refusing to let his trust rest in Christ's name.] Above are several Bible verses about people (generations) not trusting God. Trust in is not easy for most of us and this includes trust in God. Trust is difficult due to a variety of reasons. We find trusting especially hard if we have been mistreated, abused, or faced injustice in our life. Our perception often is skewed by human emotion or physical variants. We have found our parents or other authority figures in our life to be untrustworthy. Perhaps they were the one who abused or caused our injustice. Maybe they did not help us when we were facing injustice or abuse from another. Perhaps other persons who say they are Christians have caused us pain, stress, frustration, hardship, or heartache. All these events can have a devastating impact on our ability to place trust in anything or anyone including our heavenly Father God who has nothing but love for us! Perhaps we spend too much time looking at, thinking about, or talking about all the injustice in our earthy world. The thousands of abused and neglected children, the homeless, the hungry, the many who are murdered, raped, tortured, molested and so forth and so on. Sometimes we have personally known or been the subject of these experiences, maybe mutable times in our life. All these things combine and cause us issues in the area of trust, yes even when it comes to trusting God. Yet without trust how can we say we have faith and without trust how can we fully depend and rely on God for our need? Let us go to God’s Word concerning trust and specifically trusting Him. In Proverbs 3:5 it says “Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding”. In Ruth 2:12 it says “The Lord recompense you for what you have done, and a full reward be given you by the Lord, the God of Israel, under Whose wings you have come to take refuge”! In 2Samuel 22:3 it reads “My God, my Rock, in Him will I take refuge; my Shield and the Horn of my salvation; my Stronghold and my Refuge, my Savior--You save me from violence”. These verses attest to God being reliable and trust worthy and that we need not lean on our limited understanding but to rely on and trust God who will give us a reward and refuge and protect us from violence. That God is there and willing to take care of us through any circumstance we face is wonderful news, yet many of us do not believe the scriptures. We allow the pain and negativity to overshadow the good, the blessings God has given us. Many times we put more stock in what others say around us or what we read or watch on television or the internet. We spend so much time saturated in these worldly matters that they take precedence over God’s very Word for us. God warns us about this over and over. Philippians 4:6-9 (AMP) Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance

and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God. And God's peace [shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. For the rest, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these things [fix your minds on them].Practice what you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and model your way of living on it, and the God of peace (of untroubled, undisturbed well-being) will be with you. Matthew 6:24 (AMP)No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will stand by and be devoted to the one and despise and be against the other. You cannot serve God and mammon (deceitful riches, money, possessions, or whatever is trusted in). Matthew 7:21(AMP) Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father Who is in heaven. Romans 12:2 (AMP) Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you]. 1Corinthians 2:14 But the natural, nonspiritual man does not accept or welcome or admit into his heart the gifts and teachings and revelations of the Spirit of God, for they are folly (meaningless nonsense) to him; and he is incapable of knowing them [of progressively recognizing, understanding, and becoming better acquainted with them] because they are spiritually discerned and estimated and appreciated. These verses explain not only what to think about but why we should dwell on God instead of the world. See Satan rules this realm right now so anything going on in the world that is evil is due to Satan’s influence on worldly things. This is why we as Christians are confronted often with difficulty because we are indeed at war with the world all things in it. As long as we Christians have flesh we will have to battle our flesh and the passions it produces which we know are not of God. That is why Paul spoke so much on crucifying our flesh and dying to our flesh daily. Paul knew that trusting God was hard and that we would all have a battle to believe because of our fleshly lusts and desires.Ephesians 6:12(AMP) For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the despotism, against the powers, against [the master spirits who are] the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) sphere. Galatians 5:24-25 (AMP) And those who belong to Christ Jesus (the Messiah) have crucified the flesh (the godless human nature) with its passions and appetites and desires. If we live by the [Holy] Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. [If by the Holy Spirit we have our life in God, let us go forward walking in line, our conduct controlled by the Spirit.] We need to trust God because God is not flesh so God does not have the desires of flesh or the influence of evil through flesh. God is Spirit and God cannot lie this is why we can fully rely on and trust God. This is why we can take God at His Word and believe all that God says. Titus 1:2 (AMP) [Resting] in the hope of eternal life, [life] which the ever truthful God Who cannot deceive promised before the world or the ages of time began. Numbers 23:19 (AMP) God is not a man, that He should tell or act a lie, neither the son of man, that He should feel repentance or compunction [for what He has promised]. Has He said and shall He not do it? Or has He spoken and shall He not make it good?Love, hugs n prayers;
