• The KKK member accused of committing the murder was set free.

• This angered many protesters and Americans.

• They planned a massive protest in Washington D.C.

March on Washington

• March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom- August 28, 1963 200,000 people of all races, backgrounds, and ages met on the National Mall.

• MLK Jr. gave his famous “I Have a Dream” speech from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.
