�Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the

LORD our God.� (Psalm 20:7)

Psalm 20:7 represents David�s song of trust despite difficult times. It is an expression of faith that God acts on behalf of His children. In building Christian character, we too must learn to trust God during difficult times. Gideon offers a great example of what this trust does NOT look like as he responded to God�s call for him to lead Israel. Gideon did not know God. Gideon lived during the time of the Judges, when the nation of Israel would frequently walk away from the God who had delivered them. As a result, God allowed the surrounding nations to be His method of punishment to Israel. This caused Gideon to doubt whether God was still with Israel, �If the LORD is with us, why has all this happened to us? Where are all His wonders that our fathers told us about when they said, 'Did not the LORD bring us up out of Egypt?' But now the LORD has abandoned us and put us into the hand of Midian (Israel�s enemy)� (Judges 6:13). A proper knowledge of God could have reminded Gideon of GOD�s trustworthiness in this difficult situation. Gideon did not know his own abilities. Sometimes we fail to trust God because we are unable to see ourselves as GOD does. Because God knows all things perfectly, He is able to see our potential. Gideon did not believe in himself and needed God to remind him of what HE saw! �The LORD turned to him and said, �Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian's hand. Am I not sending you?� �But Lord,� Gideon asked, �how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family.� The LORD answered, �I will be with you, and you will strike down all the Midianites together�" (Judges 6:14-16). Gideon did not believe God. Even after hearing God�s promise, Gideon still sought further proof. He asked God to perform miracles to help his unbelief, but God was not done demonstrating His trustworthiness to Gideon. �The LORD said to Gideon, �With the three hundred men that lapped I will save you and give the Midianites into your hands�� (Judges 7:7). 300 men defeated the Midianite army because God was with Gideon. Salmo 20:7 representa la canción de David en la que demuestra su confianza en Dios a pesar de las pruebas. Es una expresión de fe en la que Dios lucha a favor de los suyos. Para contar con un carácter cristiano, debemos aprender a confiar en Dios en tiempos de prueba. Gedeón nos da un gran ejemplo de lo que NO es esta confianza en Dios a como es llamado para liderar Israel. Gedeón no conocía a Dios. Gedeón vivió en el período de los Jueces, cuando la nación de Israel se desviaba a menudo de caminar con Dios que ya los había liberado. Como resultado Dios usó las naciones que los rodeaban para castigarlos. Esto hizo que Gedeón dudara si Dios todavía era el Dios de Israel. �¿si Jehová está con nosotros, por qué nos ha sobrevenido todo esto? ¿Y dónde están todas Sus maravillas, que nuestros padres nos han contado, diciendo? ¿No nos ha desamparado, y nos ha entregado en mano del os madianitas?" (Jueces 6:13). Cuando las dificultades surgen, un conocimiento propio de Dios nos recuerda que él es fiel en todo momento y situación. Gedeón no sabía de sus propias habilidades. Algunas veces fallamos al servir a Dios pues nos enfocamos en nuestras limitaciones en lugar de hacerlo en nuestras áreas fuertes. Dios conoce cada cosa perfectamente, él puede ver nuestro potencial. �Y mirándole Jehová, le dijo: Ve con esta tu fuerza, y salvarás a Israel de la mano de los madianitas ¿No te envío Yo? Entonces le respondió: Ah Señor mío, ¿con qué salvaré yo a Israel? He aquí mi familia es pobre en Manasés, y yo el menor en casa de mi padre� (Jueces 6:14-16). Gedeón no le creyó a Dios. Aún después de haber escuchado la promesa de Dios, Gedeón no le creyó a Dios --- él quería más pruebas. Le pidió a Dios que hiciera milagros para ayudarlo en su desconfianza. Dios no había terminado de mostrar todavía su poder y fidelidad a Gedeón. �Entonces Jehová dijo a Gedeón: 'Con estos trescientos que lamieron el agua os salvaré, y entregaré al os medianitas en tus manos, y váyase toda l además gente cada uno as u lugar'� (Jueces 7:7). 300 hombres derrotaron a los Medianitas porque Dios estaba con Gedeón.
